Lark has one full sister, and five paternal half siblings.
Lark and her sister were never close with their half siblings - as kids their half siblings seemed to harbor some resentment that their father was more present in Lark's (and her sister's) life than theirs. This resentment seemed to ebb as they got older, but the rift caused was never something any of them attempted to fix.
Lark moved to LA in her early twenties. Not only was she alone... but she was also lonely. She spent all her extra time working on her music, either in her apartment or the studio.
Lark's family and some of her friends kept in contact for a while, but her schedule and routine was something they couldn't always understand. They'd come out to visit her, but she'd be too busy to be as present as they expected. Or, they'd go see one of her shows and be disappointed when she was whisked away for the next city, before even getting a chance to properly say hi.
Eventually, the people closest to her started to tell her she changed. She doesn't feel like she has, but isn't entirely true either way. While it took a little while, she did make new friends in LA, who had similarly busy schedule and understood her lifestyle more than anyone back home did.
When Lark came out to LA, the only person she knew was her producer. A well-to-do woman named Margaret. Margaret would come into the studio daily with a cup of coffee from the coffee shop a few blocks away.
Lark later meets Lillard, who is Margaret's long term partner (who she gets the aforementioned coffee with before they part ways to their respective jobs in the morning).
Lillard, between projects at the time, hangs out at the studio often.
Lark's first official album was very successful, but has now released her second album. Her second album doesn't do nearly as well, and as a result Margaret informs her that it'll be a while before they greenlight her third album.
Lark continues writing anyway, this time taking more time to carefully craft each song (in comparison to her admittedly rushed second album). When Margaret still doesn't budge on even allowing her to release her next single, Lillard offers Lark a deal. If she goes on a date with him, he'll introduce her to some of his friends (a well known song writer that can offer some advice on her third album, someone that can help produce her next music video, etc.), and he'll put the unreleased single in his next film/tv series.
Lark agrees. The date goes extremely well, Lillard rents out a private room in a restaurant, then invites Lark back to his apartment to watch the early edit of the film that her song will be in.
Going forward, Lark continues seeing Lillard despite his continuing relationship with Margaret (by seeing, I mean she sneaks in through the back gate into his apartment).
Lark eventually tells Lillard she isn't happy, and wants him to amicably split with Margaret (both for Margaret's sake and her own). It takes some convincing, but Lark knows its true with Margaret comes into the studio without her morning cup of coffee and a significantly shorter temper.
With this, Lark thinks their relationship will be public and more... couple-y. But, Lillard reminds her that Margaret will still be upset if she knew Lark were dating her ex. So, the two continue sneaking around. Occasionally renting out a movie theater or a restaurant, but typically keeping their relationship behind the closed doors of one of their apartments for the sake of Lark's career.
Lark calls things off (some undecided time later... months? a year? idk yet) when Margaret comes into the studio carrying the signature coffee cup yet again, unknowingly telling Lark that she and Lillard have spent at least one night together again.
The way Lark's music career was put on pause made her feel uneasy, so she began considering some alternative projects on the side. Something she can step into should her music career ever be halted again. So, she decided to give acting a shot.
The role of Thorn felt like it was made for Lark. The perfect blend between music and acting. It could breathe a new life into her music career, while also proving that she's multifaceted and hopefully open up a new pathway into acting.
