The experience in Barcelona is one that I will never forget and will cherish for life. I was able to meet people all around the world that I shared many things in common with me. I made friendships that will last me a lifetime and I could have only made these friendships in Barcelona. Also, during my time in Barcelona I was able to travel to countries near by where I was able to experience different cultures. Many times I experienced a culture shock because I realize that countries do things differently than the United States. This experience means so much to me because I never thought I could travel the world. I come from a Mexican family that hasn’t traveled at all so being able to do this means so much to me and also my family.  This experience will help me in my career because I’m a business major and I was able to experience different cultures. I learned how they do things and the reason they do them. Also, I was able to make friends with locals which shows a good adaptability trait. This experience changed my life and how I view things.

For this class, we watched several videos talking about someone’s calling. Many people don’t find their calling until they have already started their careers involving something that they don’t really enjoy. Some get lucky and find their calling early on. Finding your calling is really important because you know that it is something that you will enjoy doing for the rest of your life no matter what life throws your way. In the video above Oprah talks about her calling and it shows that you can realize your calling in the future.

For this class we read several articles and watched some Ted Talks. This was really helpful because I learned that no one teaches children to be entrepreneurs but we need entrepreneurs. Cameron Herold, the person speaking in one of the Ted Talks, mentioned how his dad made him be an entrepreneur since he was young. I found this Ted Talk so interesting and it made me realize that I might want to do that with my children in the future. Also, Social Innovation was talked about in this class which is really important because it is something that is rising in the world.

In class today, we watched a video that tells the story of a man. This video was shown to us because our professor wanted us to think about our self-bio. In thinking about our self-bio we have to figure out the voice, tone, story and theme of it. For the video we watched, the theme was love because everything revolved around the love the man had for the tree and then his wife. The tree was really important for him because that’s where is life “started.” This was where he met his wife, where he married her and from it he made a crib for his future child. This got me thinking about the story of my life and it helped me pick out was important from it.

For this class, we had to do several exercises that talked a lot about how employers should treat their customers. In general, it was about how employers can treat their employees and how the employees feel about them. The video above really shocked me because I never thought about how a job can lead into dying. Some jobs can be so stressful that some people don’t know that they are overworking themselves because they are just trying to stand out. This video almost made me want to cry.

For today’s class we had to do several exercises which were mostly about our futures jobs. One of the articles was about career resolutions it talked about the importance of networking, personal branding and skill excellence. The second article talked the jobs of the future. I really liked this article because one of my majors was part of the list. The video above was really interesting because it shows how the world is changing so much. One thing that I found really interesting from the video was that India has more honors kids than American has kids. This shows how big of a country India is in comparison to the United States.

Today in class, we had a special guest Francesc Granja, who had suffer from a terrible accident that left him paraplegic. I really liked hearing him talked about his accident because it seems like he has come a long way since it happened. He talked about his struggles but you can tell that he still likes his life. He went through a very difficult time but he was able to overcome it. Also, during class he did some coaching exercises which I thought were very interesting because I had never seen anything like them. We saw how a person’s problem changed through the questions that he asked.

Study Abroad Narrative: When I was studying abroad, my friends and I decide to take a weekend trip to Italy. During our trip in Italy my phone was stolen, this had a lot of consequences because I had so many important details on my phone. First, I had my boarding pass in there and I was leaving the following day. Also, I had to report my phone stolen back at home so that meant that my SIM card from the US wouldn’t work here. I needed my SIM card from the US for many reasons which are the following: authentication to login to my home university where I was currently working as a online TA and communicating with family members that don’t have Whats App. When this situation happened I cried a lot and was trying to figure what to do. After I calmed down I started to think about how I would be able solve each of my problems. I was determined not to give up even though there were so many situations that almost made me give up. I was having trouble getting my boarding pass because I didn’t have the reservation code but at last I was able to get it. I ended up getting a new iPhone but I was having issues being able to login into my icloud account. It took a lot of series of events but I was finally able get into my account where all of my information was saved. Another thing I had to do was, call my phone company in Spain to add minutes to call to the US so I could call my school to see how I would be able to login in to my account. There was a lot other things that I had to do and it took a lot of problem solving skills/determination but I’m glad that I was able to overcome it. This is an experience that taught me a lot on how to overcome different situations when something out of my control happens.

Today in class we watched a short movie where an autistic man portrayed himself as the interviewer when he wasn’t. The boss was really made at him but the person being interviewed saw potential in him. That’s when the boss noticed that he was worth more than the job he was doing. I really liked this video because it showed good interview questions but there was also a lesson there. The lesson was that some people are not seen as good enough because of the way they look or a disability they have. Also, in class today we saw questions that a company can not ask you. I thought this was really useful because I now know what I can be asked and what I can’t be asked.

Today in class we watched a video about Francesc Granja because he will be a guest speaker in our class in the future. We learned through this video that Francesc didn’t let the accident that happen to him define his life. There was a point in his life where he felt really depressed but he was able to get through it. Also, in class we did a exercise where we chose one competence to share with the class. I liked this exercise because I was able to see if another person chose the same word as me.

Today in class we had a guest speaker who we were able to ask questions to. The guest speaker was Juan Carlos who has a degree in Industrial Engineering, an MBA in Finance and HR. Juan Carlos is a very knowledgeable person who has a lot of experience from working with many companies in different countries. All of this got me thinking about my future because he said a lot of things that related to us as people that will start working in that industry. I started thinking of ways that I will stand out compare to others that have the same skills as I do. Applying for jobs is something that I am doing right now so having this guest speaker was really helpful.

Today in class, we focused on the third P of the marketing mix which was Promotion. We first started with our video curriculum where we learned how to create one and the structure of it. Then we moved to our bio where we had to add a picture of ourselves and a short bio in third person. Also, we learned how to create a European resume because for our Marketing Plan project we have to add both our home country and European Resume. We will also need two cover letters for our Marketing Plan, one that is for a specific company and one that is not. I found all this really useful because I know it will help me later in life.

Today in class we worked on the first 2 P’s of the marketing mix which were product and placement. For product/ brand I was able to create a logo and slogan that represented me really well. I used a website to create it my logo and I think it represents me pretty well. For placement I was able to think about my job search channels which was something that I hadn’t really thought about. Another thing we did in class was the networking form which will be really helpful in the future because I will be able to have my networking information all in one place.

In today’s class, we did several exercises that made us learn about ourselves. The first exercise we did was the good shape questionnaire where we had to reflect on one of our objectives and this activity was really useful because it made me realize different things about my career. Another activity we did today was our timeline where we had to come up with specific dates that we want to have certain things accomplished. This helped me think about the things I want to accomplish and when I want to have them accomplished by. All these activities have been really helpful because they have helped me realize things about myself that I hadn’t before.

In class today, we did a lot of different exercises about ourselves. The first exercise was the Myers Briggs, where we were able to see what was our Humanmetrics Jung Typology type. This was really interesting because I had a combination of some things that I didn’t think I would have. Also, we did a exercise about our Alter egos, objectives, missionary panel, mind map and answered why we work. These exercises helped me see things about myself that I hadn’t thought about before. There was a lot of thinking that had to go into them and I really liked that. 

Today in class we talked about our lifeline and what events have made it special. Also, in class today we made a body mural that had the different events that went through our life that have made a big impact. These events had to be high and low events because in a life line there are highs and lows. I like how we made the body mural because we were to visually see them. Now we have a visual image of what made us who we are today. This activity made me realized some events that I hadn’t realized were important to me. Honestly, this was one of my favorite activities just because I got to learn a lot about myself.

Today in class we learned the importance of feedback because we played a game where four random volunteers had to shoot a ball into a basket with their eyes closed. The thing that they didn't know was that our professor had told us that for the first volunteer to always give positive feedback, for the second volunteer to always give negative feedback, for the third volunteer to give no feedback at all and for the last volunteer to give positive and negative feedback. After we had finished the game we asked each of the volunteers how they felt about each feedback and for the most part they all said that they were confused. This shows that feedback has a big impact on people because depending on the feedback it might push some to do better or it might weaken the result.
