i think everyone who is worried about their skill doing content in ff14 should watch an ultimate world race. if you have ever felt like shit for not immediately understanding a mechanic you've never seen before, you will be Spiritually Healed watching the absolute best players in the world spend multiple hours and 20 pulls just to make it 25 milliseconds further into a fight. you will watch people just completely fuck mechanics that they have successfully done 30 pulls in a row for no other reason than they're tired and their brain shidded. no matter what your skill ceiling is, the trajectory of gaining competence follows pretty much the same arc. be soothed

...something something funny how mythological imagery dictates that to meet demonic Zodiark we had to ascend to the highest peak of the heavens and see his seal undone surrounded by the ghost of millions of ancient scholars, while to meet Hydaelyn, we had to descend to the deepest pits of hells harassed by the ghosts of those who opposed us but also aided by allies of eld before standing for the angelic goddess at the heart of the world beneath the ground.

adventurer squadron is the funniest thing in ffxiv. "oh we're the warrior of light's handpicked special crew of adventurers. what do we do? mostly we uh. mostly we run dungeons that they tell us to run. when they remember to come by. honestly most weeks they do not come by. I haven't seen them in months. but no one's willing to reassign us or send us on other duties because, again, WOL's handpicked squad, so...we just sorta chill."
