anyways i was joking around about thancred's interaction with ultima thule bc he's unable to manipulate aether anymore vs its dynamis makeup and then they just fucking. started tearing apart my family STARTING WITH HIM. i was so fucking despair and then they took estinien right after. i think that thancred and estinien both actually shone a lot this expac so it hurt even more too sob sob sob

and then when we met with the ea and one of them said that one fucking crazy ass depressive line in "when we cast aside our flesh, so too did we cast aside all that defined us. nothing remains of who we once were. have no aspirations. no longer can i dream. the vital spark is lost." like hoooly fuck. hoooly fuck.

the way throughout when we lose companions theres unfamiliar paths forming but we take them without fear because our companions paved them and would never leave us astray. and i didnt think they would take the twins bc they are so close to us but they did and i felt my stomach drop.

and then the voices from the past coming in when i first heard ardbert's voice it felt like a punch to the face.. only to have haurchefant's voice chime in about allies as the second voice oh god ffxiv fans really let yoship get away with this grief. and now we all have to suffer. AND . and dont even talk to grug about emet fucking selch. IT JUST HURTS SO BAD THE WAY WE HAVE A BUCKET LIST. i didn't play post ew but i hope we get a chance to check off what he mentioned to us before.

i actually could not believe my eyes seeing fucking zenos come in to save us either like i dont know why my gay ass situationship is here and forced me to fistfight him to the actual fucking death but he is such a beautiful villain i dont know. he quite literally chased us to the end of the universe and died the happiest he's been twice. who has that kind of luxury?

i think one of my favorite things about the expansion is how we never really are given an explicit answer to hermes' question of what is the meaning of life and rather encourages us to all find out own meaning, that life provides its own meaning as we conquer the meaningless.

emet-selch is probably one of my favorite characters. like ever period. he refuses to stop, he can't stop but keeps coming back to you. he keeps inviting you, testing you because deep down he wants you to be worthy enough for him to finally set down his torch. he has a duty he can't set aside but wants a reason to and with the way he smiles at wol at the end for saving their star.. man.

there's so much full circle happening.. the way the scions prayed for wol's safety against endsinger mirroring the way they prayed in the arr trailer.. and even zenos being unable to find meaning in his life until wol stepped in and coming back to be our final enemy in ew discussing our purpose at the end. i'm going to need to stew on this. for a while

for some reason it took me very long until Elpis for me to realize what kind of theme endwalker was proposing and i think the question of life being worth living is always fun to explore esp w meteion representing like Total Nihilism

and its funny, i think that hermes is a huge hypocrite and we See it but i dont think its necessarily the flaw that lead the final days to happening. he seems to be generally a just person its just that the other ascians seemingly dont struggle with the value of life he feels unsure in his convictions

anyways i think i really appreciate shb emet-selch a lot more post elpis bc. he had OOMFS man.. oomfs that he talked to and helped. he liked helping people. and he fucking made AMAUROT SHADOWBRINGERS.

that one fucking part where we tell him hythlodaeus and venat about our entire journey and he so vehemently denies sullying his memory of the ppl in amaurot and the person he supposedly becomes... grug.

not to mention hythlodaeus being the one to walk around in the amaurot recreation with the most amt of consciousness and self awareness.. emet-selch says that a recreation of amaurot is insulting to their memory but hythlodaeus is so recognizeable; its not insulting to their memory it just shows how close you were.
