In the past hour or so, bethesda released a teaser trailer for the new fallout. It is on their YouTube, Twitter, etc. I have gone in depth to analyze this trailer, and I will update it when I notice new things/a new trailer is posted. Please feel free to message me/reblog this post with your own ideas, and I might add them to this post. Remember, this is pure speculation. I have no clue what is really going to be in the game.

What we know so far:

The name of the game is Fallout 76, implying the game will take place in the year 2076 and inside vault 76. Vault 76 has been mentioned in fallout 3 and 4. It was one of the few vaults that kept its residents alive, and was said to be in Virginia. Here is the info we learn from fallout 3 about vault 76:

Construction begun: February 2065

Construction complete: October 2069

Occupants: 500

Duration: 240 months

Computer system: Brainpower 4

Primary power supply: LightLife Geo-Thermal

Secondary Power Supply: General Atomics Nuclear Power

Non-Standard Equipment: none

As usual, we start the trailer off with a song. The song is called Country Roads by John Denver (thanks to @raysunday for the name of the song). This song mentions West Virginia often, leading us to believe that the game will take place in West Virginia. This conflicts with what we learn from fallout 3 about the vault being in Virginia.

Also, we notice the pip boy. This is the Pip-Boy 2000 from fallout 1 and 2. Why would vault 76 have this instead of the newer pip boys? (Thanks to @tiredenclaveghoul for this info).

The red cup in the background continues this theme of a party or celebration that the stream established. Often, red plastic cups are found at parties.

Next, we see what appears to a bedroom. Perhaps this is bedroom of the main character.

This is the first place where we see one of the most interesting parts of the trailer. We models of both new and old things. In the bedroom, we see a familiar Jangles the Moon Monkey. But, there are plenty of things we have never seen before. There is a backpack on the bed, slippers on the floor, and the rotating “good morning/good night” thing.

The Jangles model was obviously taken from fallout 4, but the other things are brand new. This begs the question- will fallout 76 use the same engine as fallout 4, or will it just include more models, like the backpack? Personally, I am hoping fallout 76 is going to be made in a new engine. Fallout 4’s graphics aren’t the best, and they have only gotten worse as the years go on. A new engine for fallout 76 would really be a breath of fresh air. This trailer seems to have some pretty great graphics, but that could just be because it is a trailer and those always look better than the actual game. These new and old models can only mean one of two things. Either fallout 76 will run on a new engine that reuses models from fallout 4, or they are using the old engine for fallout 4 and are just creating new models for fallout 76.

In the next scene, we see many more new models. The game on the table says “Unstoppables xxx” (I cannot read the second word). We also see a new kind of alcohol on the table and an acoustic guitar in the corner.

In the same scene, we see old and new things. There is an iconic pumpkin trick or treat basket on the shelf. There is also a creepy rat mascot head or something. I have no idea. Next to it, we can see a bird cage. This implies that other pets besides cats and dogs could have survived the war.

On the wall, there is a poster exclusively for vault 76. It appears that vault 76 is “the official vault of the tricentennial”. A tricentennial is a celebration of a 300 year old event.

What happened 300 years ago that was so significant, they dedicated an entire vault to it?

….why, the founding of America, of course!

Virginia has many connections to the founding of America. Our first president came from Virginia, it was one of the 13 colonies, etc.

This celebration that everything revolves around could quite possibly be the anniversary of America’s foundation.

In the next scene, we see plenty of old refernces to fallout 4. The wooden soldier MacCready gives the sole survivor, bottle and Cappy from nuka world, and an eyebot model are all on this little table. We also see new models, like the truck and motorcycle.

The most important thing in this part is the TV. The person on the TV appears to be a vault Tec salesman, and he is in front of vault 76. He is explaining to the crowd how they must rebuild civilization after the “fallout has settled”.

The most intriguing thing about this part is that the TV is in COLOR. Even in the start of fallout 4, the TV was in black and white. I have NO IDEA what this means, but I feel like it has some serious significance.

Waiting on some cars to be retextured before I can start sending the world for testing, so in the meantime I figured I’d do some backend work, drop down some more rabbitholes and also retexture some of them to fit in better with the world.

(Not included: Quarter waters or bodega cats.)
