It takes away the point of the beautiful way the character is written. We can clearly see from the beginning Aziraphale is still bound to heaven in some ways. Or at least not specifically to heaven but to the thought of what it might and should be. And here it is, his chance to make it better, and to do it with Crowley. To make things better for Crowley. For the both of them.

Do you really want to erase all of this because of a miracle theory? I mean yes, Metatron manipulated Aziraphale, but not with a miracle. Just with words.

And Aziraphale fell for it because he still had hope.

#im sorry but anyone who thinks this decision was out of character for azi hasn’t been watching the show #he was still holding on to heaven #and still maintaining distance between himself and crowley #crowley was living in his car #as much as he loves him he wasn’t letting him in completely #he was still carrying the guilt of fraternizing with the other side #so of course in him mind the ultimate best solution would be crowley becoming an angel again #that way he can be with crowley and crowley would now have the official stamp of ‘good’#azi still has a lot of unlearning to do of the flawed principles instilled in him during his time in heaven #good omens #spoilers
