I Love You
These three words sum up everything that I feel for you. Only now have I come to understand the perfectness of the sentence “I love you”, in all its entirety. Every time those three words pop up during a conversation, I still get butterflies in my stomach, like a ridiculous 7 year old that just learned how to ride a bike without the training wheels on. Heck, every time I see you on the first day of class of the week, I still get the butterflies.
It’s almost been a year since the day I asked you to be officially “mine”. It’s been a year and I feel like we’ve both grown so much since then. I remember you telling me that you were scared to get into another relationship after what happened before us, and that our friendship was something that you valued a lot, which could be compromised if ever we decided that a relationship between the both of wouldn’t work. I want you to know that even then, I never doubted that I would be able to love you well, honestly, wholly, and that I’d be able to take care of you, love. Simply because I was so sure that I loved you, every little piece of you - because you make me happier than anyone else in the world. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel lucky to have you. You get me on levels that no other person could ever hope to reach, and I would not trade the yummiest cake on this earth for that - and you know how much I love food. Hehe
That’s why when you tell me you’re worried, or scared of things repeating, I’m not afraid to tell you that it won’t happen, but I guess time will tell. As we both grow together, and pass all these hurdles of being in a high-pressured course in college, I want you to always remember that I ain’t movin’ an inch away from you because I promised you that I would always be there for you, and I also promised that I would keep all my promises. :))
The world needs more of that real kind of love, the kind that stays - the kind that knows and values what’s right in front instead of looking towards the side for those second-bests. I’m glad to say that my dad taught me that you can stay madly in love with her even after n years, and still have those googly eyes even at the age of 49. I can’t wait to wake up to you on the same bed in a house we both live in too.
And hey,
I love you
Never anything less.
