They say every photo has a story. This one is no exception! 🙏 You see, we woke up early to take a sunrise shot of Yellowstone's Lower Falls from "Artist Point" but weather had other plans. While we chatted with fellow photographers the question was asked, "where are you from?" Upon replying "Houston," eyes got big and we got asked, "you do know a big hurricane is coming your way?" Well, no...we didn't. That's the beauty of getting lost in the National Parks, disconnecting is easy! In the coming days, we learned of Harvey's devastation and wondered how our home and those of our friends fared. We didn't find out until earlier this week that our home was spared of Harvey's full wrath. To put things in perspective, if Yellowstone Falls opened up upon Houston, it would have to flow into the city for about 15 years and 51 days at its fullest flow to equate the amount of water dropped by Harvey! While we were lucky, many others were not...not only in Houston, but across southeast Texas. We have used our blessing to help those less fortunate by removing wet and soggy interiors and attempting to halt the growth of mold. Please consider helping those affected by Harvey however you can...by service, donations, or even just giving the encouragement to rebuild stronger than before. We may soon face similar devastation in Florida as Irma barrels down. When events like these take place, we must be reminded that we are not just Texans, Floridians, Southerners, or even Americans, but rather humans living together on a beautiful but occasionally tumultuous planet. We must work together to survive and improve lives for others. It's about time we get some new posts up! 😜 We've been mostly out of cell range and when we got back to connectivity, we had been busy with family and monitoring Tropical Storm Harvey which devastated our home town of Houston 😥.
