Gorgeous color work! Mmm, that subsurface scattering, that- uh what’s it called, environmental light? Just, the cool tones in the skin from the light bouncing off the blue tiles. Fantastic! Also, the zoomed in composition! Perfecto. I always struggle with that- what to show and what not to show. And getting the anatomy right without using the rest of the body for reference. Mad respect!

Iruka’s expression is so nuanced! It’s giving “I’m pissed off and you disgust me but also I’m confused because why do you also turn me on?” So much conveyed in the placement of those lines. Meanwhile Kakashi is downright placid by comparison. Just not bothered. Not even really cocky. Almost like he’s in a trance. It’s a great juxtaposition. Adds tension to the interplay between the two and hints at a deeper narrative. Makes the viewer wonder what’s going on- what’s the context? And inspires them to fill in the gaps with their imagination.

I’m always so impressed with stylized art. It’s like a language I can understand but not speak. When I look at it my brain sees characters but when I try to draw like that myself, the simplification and abstraction make it so all I see are unrecognizable lines. Particularly when it comes to faces and facial expressions. I wonder if it has to do with my autism or if I just trained my brain too hard in the direction of drawing realism.

Great example how different silhouettes make characters with similar features feel visually distinct! The shape language in their hair is really on point. They all have short black hair but since each shape is completely different, you can tell at a glance that they’re different people.

OMG. The whimsical painterly feel of the background, contrasted with the lovely sharp black linework of the characters!!and the characters are shown from so many different angles! You really know how to clearly depict a conversation in a visually stimulating manner! No talking heads for you! Do you have any filmmaking education? Things like starting wide for the “establishing shot” works so well to set the scene like you did. And I’m so jealous of your ability to get people to look consistent and recognizable without resorting to making exaggerated caricatures. It’s something I struggle with. And that’s not even getting started on the character design for the fae! The casual floating, the sparkles, the green and pink, the black sclera, and last but not least that chest and arm protrusions! Is it hair? fur? scales? feathers? spikes? leaves? Unclear, but damn do I love it.

I love this. SO much. The eye shapes and proportions of the faces has me screaming! I rarely see Asian features portrayed so well!!! I just. It feels so real but it’s still stylized enough that the faces fit with everything else! So expressive too!!! God. I find facial expressions so hard to do without over-exaggerating it. There’s so much subtlety needed to convey the correct meaning. A single line off the tiniest bit will make the emotion entirely different. I’m just in awe of this humble mastery of faces. You don’t need to make the eyes super big to get the point across because you just do it right. AND I DIDNT EVEN GET TO THE LINEWORK AND COLORING! Ugh I dream of the day I can get this good.

Simple. Stylish. Fantastic. A superb reminder of how much can be expressed through monochrome. A lesson in subtlety and that I don’t need to overthink things when it comes to panel layout. Let the moments rest. Let them breathe. Comic panels convey time and the vibe of the moment. There’s no need to scrunch everything up into one page. There’s a beauty and purpose to drawing things out. Again this is a fabulous reminder to not overdo it. The stark white background in most panels makes the subjects the clear focus both visually and emotionally. The line work is soft and sketchy. It doesn’t need to be perfect and in this case sharp lines would just ruin the vibe.

So beautiful. Love the colors, especially the skin tones! Color theory eats me for breakfast. That shit is hard!!! Is that a green undertone to Harry’s skin??? It goes really well with the green accents to his cloak and the gradient in the background. And Draco being pinkish works because it’s complimentary colors right? I’m dying for the purple shadows on his neck. Also love how Harry’s scar matches the white of Draco’s hair!
