Hey there folks so I wrote for a bit about AMCās IwtV and lost half of it but now we are 10 pm, so first sorry for those getting it because they followed me the art hasnāt been arting this year much but have this rant instead. Now this isnāt a negative one, mostly because I doubt I could run a good critic and I mostly have good things to say about the show and how well thought it is and how Malloy might be my favorite protagonist of the year even if Harry Dubois hit me like a truck last January. I donāt have any plans to read the books and havenāt but the cast is great the costumes amazing and itās artfully made but thereās this slippery worm called Armand that I honestly thought I wouldnāt care about mostly because he didnāt appeal to me much more than the others but after a call with my partner that ended with a crack fic idea, here I am picturing him like a small bug were I inspect with a microscope because my guy confused me at first. Heās the oldest weāve seen so far at a whopping 500 a fourth of recorded history post BC, heās been through it and we donāt seem half of it unlike the others and this troubles me because the little we see is the trails of a complicated man and to write him within crack being treated seriously is to understand him and this sucks because no matter the conclusions I go to it will never be accurate enough. If I trace a line an example can show itself and tell me about how he can be caculating and we rarely get a confirmation of his rawest nature.
The guy was just there until I had to know him for a fic idea, fandom culture is crazy man.
For all the artist (this includes writers, photographers, ect.) who display him as only his more frequent attitudes, observing of a situation, silent and obsessive, meticulous even, simple even than I love you and the work you do never give up but when I see those who share his many face than TAKE MY LIFE AND TEACH ME YOUR WAYS because holy shit the face that had curiosity and a will to destroy Malloy as he was in the 70ās and the guy who interacted with them a few hours prior is DIFFERENT AND IāM CRAZY FOR IT. Guy will manipulate do all he can with what he has to come into his desired results and they can be wild. Iāve seen people take the trial as a way for him to eliminate Louisā relationships and knowing that vampire loneliness is extreme than yes his goal up to meeting Louis in Paris might have grown up into the deepest disire for a complete companion weāve seen (so far). No doubt that was interplayed with other goals and desires that shifted and changed but because of that fucking ending I canāt be sure of what exactly motivates that man, why did he keep the theatre after Lestat left? He mentioned a love for ritual and after the lost of the former and I assume a few of the prior orginisation what happened? He likes ritual and order (I assume the laws was brought up with him if not he kept them a staple unlike Les) and a coven keeps away the fact that he is alone but why organise theatre acts, many in fact! Because of a long lost love? Because it kept him busy? Whatever it is I fear I will never get to him because I refuse to see him with a single conclusion for he his purposeful and he will protect whatever he has, even if he kills his own kin who keep him company (though Claudia and Madelaine hardly were his, but I donāt doubt he could of with his own coven) yet like any creature damned or not he does not intend to bid with malice we only saw a fracture of his life, some even narrated by himself and the show made it clear that perspective matters even so with the new season! So even if what we see next is Lestats show I will go crazy and have been crazy seeing peeks of Armand. With the fic I posed the question, whatās next? Where does he go after his last shot because past Louis, we donāt know whatās his motivation and passion? Will we get bum modern Armand? I know part of this could be resolved with reading the books but I doubt thatāll happen. Anyways Iām planning to make a painting despite the topic of choice here itāll mostly be s1 related might share it here when itās done but due to my track record might not happen. Sorry for those who followed for a specific fandom, I swear I donāt jump around as much I just mostly stay off platforms for myself as I am not built for social media but Tumblr is the fandom space so for once I do not mind screaming, hopefully like my other post itāll stay in the digital void :)
Also Louis hallucination fic in the works because unsurprisingly I have other obsessions in occurences with season 2, Iām keeping it in the back burner but might be a short first fic with a concept I might be able to master once I achieve better skill.

Let me take you on a little trip back to Roman times. A beautiful summers day in the Mediterranean, lying lazily in the shade by the pool, savouring grapes, figs and wine while listening to the soft buzz of bees flying around the wisteria overhead
So, I've spent the last three weeks on this, my most ambitious and detailed painting so far. I had a lot of fun mapping out the composition and drawing every single grape, flower and tree in the background - my laptop not so much. Noted, 180 layers is about the maximum photoshop can take. But we need to find a way around that cause I've tasted blood now

A few months ago, fellow fandom dweller and fic writer @silvernightwalker decided to organize a fan book project with the hopes of giving it to DT at a local con, but due to certain circumstances, the panel and meetup got canceled. But that project was still such a blast to contribute in, heck I even got the chance to help make a simple portrait artwork for the cover!
(This is a rather long post so Iāll cut it here, but the full version contains quick rundown of my process and trials, as well as full credits for those who helped make this thing real!)
So what exactly did we do? Well a portrait is simple enough, seeing the tight deadline we had if we wanted the book to arrive in time for the con. Since the book itself contains so much wonderful art by so many artists, having something that shows many illustrated variations of the actor himself made sense, and again seeing as we were a couple of artists working on this assured we wouldnāt surpass the deadline. So after a bit of rummaging in the GO Reference Library we managed to Frankenstein an image that fitted our theme and then we could actually start making our portraits.
I started by thinking I should do a normal digital painting, but seeing how most of our team was doing that, I thought, "Why not do it traditionally instead? It's been a while since I've painted with acrylics."
I immediately regretted that, as I there was only a few days left and I hadn't even started my final submission. So plan C it was.
Finally seeing as everyone was drawing the reference picture in their unique style, I decide I would invoke my learnings from doing way too many Professor Layton crossover art and draw DT in a fun stylized way, with nice chunky lineart and include nods to some of his roles that really stuck with me (A.J. Crowley, the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctor and a seemingly well hidden Scrooge McDuck from Ducktails, since that's probably the first role of his I've got to see in action). And then I let the colours really take the show by at first limiting my palette to then painting it a little in greyscale.
