Could you imagine telling such a sweet little boy that he can’t go make friends with the other kids on such-and-such island? Could you imagine trying to explain to him why he couldn’t? Could you imagine doing that on island after island, watching this sweet little boy get quieter and quieter each time? Could you imagine the day when he stops asking altogether, because he already knows it’s going to be a no? Could you imagine seeing that spark die? Could you imagine watching the resentment start to take shape? Could you imagine that sweet little boy growing to hate you, running away from you, and getting captured or killed, knowing your inability to make the hard decision to let him go was the reason that it happened?

even though the twins' mom's only stipulation for who should raise her children was that it be someone "warm"/"kind-hearted" unlike garling, dragon still sometimes stresses over whether he's good enough to be the person fulfilling her wish

shanks & shamrock see dragon as their father because he started raising them before he became notorious enough for that connection to be dangerous, but as soon as he began to make a name for himself, he instructed them to keep their relationship to him under wraps. their lack of physical resemblance to him has helped with this facade.

unlike with luffy, by the time dragon became a major target of the world government the twins were old and strong enough to fend for themselves and make the choice to stay by his side despite the inherent danger (a choice that dragon couldn't give luffy because he was too young to make it)

the twins publicly go by nicknames/pseudonyms to protect them from being recognized by garling and co (but they probably are eventually anyway)

.... so my period was kicking my ass today and I wasn't in the mood to work on my comms. Laid around for a bit, just scrolling my phone, then felt okay and inspired enough to draw SaNami once evening hit. Not work. Just for the enjoyment of it. A way to de-stress since my uterus was being difficult.

I've committed over 22 yrs only conceptualizing the one piece treasure in my head while other subjective opinions are all over the place. I've also kinda stopped thinking too deeply about the plot anymore now but all discussions are welcome.

That also includes Luffy's mother, a topic I'm aware prevails over the large fandom's discussion board to this day. Personally though, I'm flippant about it unless it ties to the mythical lore.

To answer you, the theory of revolutionary leader Dragon and empress Tritoma starting a family together is humorous ok. However, I'm not discarding it either since there is some logical reasoning to it all.

I have some gripes but I do admire Oda's dedication in fleshing out Dragon with careful consistency. We're talking about an acutely self-aware man who's no-nonsense attitude intimidates everyone(!) Mr. Strict Discipline himself. He's more than one year into initiating the RA but has a freak accident? The woman wouldn't just be special but somebody capable to have a top secret affair with. Might be the powerful Pirate Captain in his generation who's already proven to be a sweet and benevolent Empress. (Sensitive Tritoma bringing less drama in Dragon's life is an added assumption)

They had a brief affair, were deeply in love, a one night stand, doesn't matter. Conceiving a chil- daughter with the Kuja Empress would be the least of his worries. I'm not even joking, this would be the less stressful route Dragon took because he'd have believed his little girl would be raised in an otherwise secluded, peaceful island under her mother's customs. But he's a Monkey D and has to father the Chosen One/Shonen MC/Nika Incarnation so he's blessed with a son shockingly. Both parents didn't see this coming but they obviously loved him! First Son of Kuja would also be Oda's next attempt to make Luffy more Unique™ than he already is.

This will also be the perfect opportunity to expand on the comically incoherent "Love Sickness" which seemed to have gotten subverted last year. Yes, Shakky got this "disease" for a few years until Rayleigh finally reciprocated at God's Valley. Then we have Gloriosa, who in her own words was a similar victim, but managed to survive despite Roger harshly rejecting her... Like? Some heartbreaking circumferences might've really triggered this sickness to fatally consume Tritoma till her unfortunate demise, which distinctly sets her as an anomaly now.

Tbh, I'm very intrigued with her myself. Forget about being Luffy's mother, I find it very suspicious how Tritoma's long rule came to an end the exact year the WG found the GGnM fruit. There's a gap in history we're still not being shown.

I recall Oda revealing he wishes to expand on the Monkey D. family history which he's been slowly doing so the past few years. If we go with this respective theory we get two birds with one stone: Dragon's vulnerability after starting the RA and the Kuja empire lore/culture can both be properly explored with the possible flashback of Luffy's birth.
