Meeting Hayley Atwell \o/
Now that I finally finished moving and unpacking, I wanted to share my story of meeting the flawless, charming, and super sweet Hayley Atwell at SDCC.
The highlight of the con for me was without a doubt the Agent Carter signing. I was hoping to get a copy of the print I did of her signed but I knew booths at SDCC usually limit autograph sessions to official posters and merch so I didn't get my hopes up. To my surprise, the Marvel staff member manning the line saw the print and told me, "Dude, that's amazing. You HAVE to show that to her and get it signed." :D
Hayley Atwell was so, so lovely as well. Generally, signings at SDCC are rushed and a bit...cold, but Hayley took the time to actually converse with fans and take selfies/posed pictures even though photographs weren't allowed. When I handed her the print and told her how Agent Carter was my favorite character and inspired me both as a woman and a (very) new artist, she joked, "Oh no, now I'm feeling pressured. I have to live up to this! I hope the show is everything you hope for."
And then, "This is so gorgeous. I wish I had a copy for myself." Which I had for her! And she posted it on twitter!!!
A couple things I regret though. I got the prints done at the convention center FedEx so the quality isn't as good as the stuff printed at my local shop. Colors are more muted and the image not as sharp. I wanted only the best for her. :(
And my biggest regret is not taking a picture with her. She generously offered, but I felt like I'd be hogging too much of her time because I already took a picture of her with the print. Why? was I? so stupid??
But otherwise, this was the best experience I've ever had at SDCC. Thank you Hayley!
