Ever feel rage at Anthonio (sorry if misspelled name) in Genshin for dueling the dragon with those riddles?
First of all, I meant to answer you months ago, but I clicked on the notification and then my ADHD out of sight, out of mind nonsense kicked in. Sorry about that.
Second of all, I'm still mad about the riddle. A riddle as a duel is fine, and sure by definition his is a valid riddle... but it's a boring one.
And worse, it's technically more of a maths problem.
Durin didn't deserve to lose his hoard over such an insult to the inherent whimsy of riddles.
I kept yapping so the rest is under the cut.
And I know that the point of a riddle is to mislead, but I'm just mad the hypothetical house didn't matter in favour of a fact. It's like going if there were ten apples on a tree and a bird stole four, how many are left?
Six, right? Wrong, my orchard burnt down yesterday, so its actually none. Well okay, screw you too I guess.

Why is your riddle math related and full of nothing relevant? Like ok buddy, your house burnt down and it sucks, but if you'd given anyone who didn't know this fact your riddle, they'd get it wrong because they'd have no way of knowing that!
A riddle is meant to give you a fighting chance from the words alone! One of my favourite bad jokes is a riddle that does that:
What's brown and sticky? A stick.
It misleads you, and then makes you realise sticky should be seen as stick-y, making it so very bad and and an incredible joke for people who find Cyno funny like me. As well as an actual riddle.
The original sphinx riddle is another example of a good one.
Which creature has one voice and yet becomes four-footed and two-footed and three-footed?
One voice, means it likely has one body. The various amounts of feet refer to a baby crawling, an adult walking, and elderly person with a cane. Therefore, with the words alone, it can be answered.
Unlike Antonio's stupid math question that's only a riddle by sheer virtue of the answer coming out left field, and should not be counted.
Yes I'm unnecessarily annoyed by it, but Durin had a dragon hoard in his toyblock form, and that is adorable, and then he lost it because of a technicality.
That said at least this random kid is annoying to him about it.
