“I wouldn’t consider any of those things you just listed a fair assessment, so I suppose mutant it is.” he said with a small smile. “Shouldn’t be turning in for bed now though, little one?”

Loki smirked in agreement. So fragile and helplesss they seemed and yet Thor was so determined that they were of worth. He cocked his head curiously as he thought he might have detected a faint hint of wistfulness in Vidar’s tone, but perhaps that was imagined. He supposed if you spent enough time in someone’s presence you were bound to develop some form of sentimentality. “One can only hope, but then I suppose he’ll come crawling back to Asgard to attempt to take my throne.” He sniffed and diverted his attention back to his quasi-brother and his grin returned. “Oh do hush. You’ll give me ideas.” He followed along behind Vidar, casting a final glance back into the eating establishment. He could learn to like certain parts of Midgard.

“Well with any luck she’ll squeeze out a few children and those will take up a few more decades of his time.” Vidar sighed. He hoped so anyway, Thor looming back around Asgard was something he knew neither he or Loki wanted. “Hmm? What, feeling game for some bloodshed now?” he chuckled as he looked back at Loki. He slowed his steps so the other god could catch up. “When was the last time you were able to just flat out slay someone, New York? It’s been far too long for me, I will tell you that much.” he chuckled.

She admitted she didn’t know much about Asgardians. Even less about prophecies. She took the glass and sipped. She watched him as he spoke. “Does Thor know any of this?” She wasn’t going to say anything of course, she’d probably forget it in the morning anyway.

“I’m sure he knows some of the story, how much of it he’s heard, I do not know.” he shrugged. “We don’t have a real relationship, never have. I assume he prefers it that way which is fine by me. He’s a loyal son to Odin, I don’t expect him to take my side.” he said, forcing a half-hearted smile. “I’m not hard to find, if he wished to speak to me or strike me down, he could easily do either. So far he hasn’t shown much of an interest in doing either.”

She smiled, nodding. “So polite. So, if you’re not against us, why are you here? Not that I don’t love your charming company..but..isn’t your home so much more?” She leaned her head in her hand on the table.

“It’s a long story.” he sighed, shifting in his chair a bit. Standing, he went to get a glass and filled it with water, adding a bit of ice and setting it on the table beside her. “Are you familiar with the prophecy? Ragnarok? Well it doesn’t matter either way really.” he said waving his hand dismissively. “It’s predicted the world of the gods will end, an apocalypse if you will. In this scenario, Odin dies, and based on differing accounts, Thor as well.” he said pausing, choosing his words carefully. “I am the one who is meant to avenge Odin and rebuild Asgard. So Odin fathered me in Joutenheim. The prophecy fell out of favor and Odin was committed to Frigga of course, never wanted her to know all of this. So I was banished and here I am.”
