Summary: When Bad Omens' first headline tour is abruptly cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Noah Sebastian reluctantly turns to therapy to navigate a future he never saw coming. Fallon Villa has dedicated her life to helping others, never expecting one client to challenge everything she believes about herself and the career she's worked so hard to build. Over the course of years, the two form a connection neither of them intended. One that forces them to confront impossible choices, blurred boundaries, and the painful truth that sometimes timing matters just as much as love.
Content Warning: unethical/forbidden relationship, mentions of alcohol (drinking, intoxication), oral f receiving, unprotected p in v, mentions of birth control
The car came to a stop in front of the apartment building, Noah and Fallon stumbled out. Noahâs hand stayed low on Fallonâs back the whole walk to her front door, his thumb stroking small circles that promised more. Fallon fumbled with her keys, laughing breathlessly when Noah pressed up behind her and mouthed at the side of her neck. The door finally swung open and they staggered inside. She pulled away to slip off her jacket. Fallon caught Noah watching her as she placed it down, simply admiring, and her chest fluttered.Â
He reached for her again, slower this time, cupping her face between his hands. Every kiss grew deeper, lips parting, the occasional hitch of breath when a hand brushed somewhere sensitive.
Fallon pulled away and led him to her bedroom. They moved, breathless and desperate, through the hallway.
âDonât have a condom,â Noah muttered against her lips.
âSâokay Iâm on the pill.â
âSo responsible,â he quipped.
Fallon smiled into the kiss as she felt blindly for the lightswitch in her bedroom.Â
The bed met the backs of her legs. Noah eased her down, kneeling with one knee between her thighs. He kissed along her jaw, down the column of her throat, pausing to suck gently at the pulse point that made her arch. His hands traveled up her stomach over the lace fabric of her corset top. He toyed with the zipper in the center between his fingers.
âCan I take this off?â
âPlease,â Fallon sighed.Â
Noah pulled the zipper down her chest. She propped herself up on her elbows, allowing him to slip it from beneath her before tossing it to the floor. His hand found her breast, thumb circling the stiff peak before he lowered his mouth to draw it between his lips. Fallonâs fingers threaded through his hair, holding him there while her other hand roamed down his back, nails tracing light lines that made him shiver. She reached the hem of his shirt and tugged, prompting him to pull it over his head. Fallonâs eyes studied the ink that covered him from his jaw to where it disappeared beneath his belt.
Noah captured her lips in a kiss again, before they traveled lower to the soft skin beneath her breasts, the dip of her navel, the sensitive spot just above her hip. His fingers worked quickly, unbuttoning her jeans and tugging them over her hips. Fallonâs jeans got caught on her ankles and she kicked her feet. Their eyes met and she giggled, vulnerable and carefree at the same time. Noah laughed softly as he helped pull them off.
His hands traveled up the smooth skin of her legs, settling on her waist. He spread her legs, catching Fallonâs eyes as he pressed kisses to the soft skin of her thighs, inching closer to where she wanted to feel him most. Noah looked up at her through his lashes as he pressed a gentle kiss to her lace covered clit.
Fallon threw her head back in ecstasy at the sight alone. He rubbed soothing patterns on her thighs as he continued to nip and tease.Â
âNoahâŚâ she spoke, barely a whisper, as she tangled a hand in his soft brown hair.
He responded by hooking his fingers in the waistband of her panties, slipping them down her legs at a devastatingly slow pace. After removing them he rose to his knees, and leaned over her now bare body, placing a soft kiss to her lips.
âI want to take my time with you.â
He sat back on his heels once again, pulling Fallonâs hips closer to the edge of the mattress. He dragged his tongue up her center to her clit. Slowly. Tentatively. Her hips jutted forward in response, telling him everything he needed to know. She wanted this, desperately.Â
Noahâs lips closed around her clit, sucking and licking in a steady pattern, pulling sweet sighs from her lips. He savored the velvet feel of her on his tongue, the sharp tugs of his hair when he touched her just right. Fallon pulled her knees closer to her chest, opening up for him, desperate to feel more. He brought two fingers to her entrance, circling them gently through the wetness that had collected.Â
He pushed two fingers inside her, his tongue still working fervently at her clit, and she cried out in pleasure at the new fullness. Noah worked his fingers in and out of her slowly, curling them ever so slightly when his knuckles kept him from filling her more. Fallonâs heart raced, her breathing quick and shallow as the pleasure surged her towards release.
The sight of her squirming and whining under his touch had Noah palming himself through his jeans. Fallon came with a broken cry, biting the back of her hand to muffle the sound. All he wanted to do was swallow the pretty sounds as he was buried deep inside her. Fallon rose to her knees after catching her breath. Noah sat stunned, pupils blown and lips parted, taking in the picture before him.
âGet up here,â Fallon panted.
âHuh?â
âCome on,â she answered impatiently.
Noah stood and she reached for him immediately, wrapping her arms around his neck. She kissed him urgently, tasting herself on his tongue. Her hands traveled down his toned chest until they reached his belt, unfastening it without ever breaking the kiss. He helped her as she fumbled with the button of his jeans, unzipping them and tugging them down his hips. Fallon inched back on the bed. Noah followed til he leaned over her, weight braced on his forearms that framed her head where it laid on the pillows.
She pulled away just long enough to whisper against his lips. âI want you.â
âMore than anything,â he confessed.
Noah reached a hand between their bodies. Fallonâs breath hitched, feeling the tip nudge her entrance, sensitive and soaked from his previous ministrations. He pushed inside her slowly, stretching her inch by inch, giving her time to adjust to his size. Fallonâs jaw dropped, broken moans left her mouth as Noah filled her completely, his hips pressed to hers.
âFuck, you feel so good,â Noah groaned, gently rocking his hips into hers, âyouâre fucking perfect.â
Fallon gripped his shoulders, nails digging in as he began to thrust into her. Noah moved with long, rolling thrusts that rocked the bed in a steady rhythm. Each stroke dragged over every sensitive spot, pulling soft whimpers from her. He ran his hand gently up the side of her cheek, tangling his fingers in her hair as he met her emerald eyes. He pressed his forehead to hers as he increased his pace, a deep hum escaping at the feeling of her gripping him tighter.
Fallon called out his name like a desperate plea. He hooked an arm under one of her knees, allowing him to fill her deeper. She tugged on the hair at the nape of his neck, her tongue tracing patterns over the snake that coiled across his throat. Noah held her thigh with a bruising grip, his other hand fisting tightly where it rested beside her head. He left open mouth kisses on her collar bone, trailing up til he claimed her mouth. Slow. Deep. Full of everything he felt. Heat began to build low in her belly.Â
âFuck Iâm close, Fal,â he groaned agaisnt her lips.
Fallon wrapped her legs tightly around his waist, his hand releasing her leg to gently grasp her jaw, pulling her lips to his. She felt herself dissolve into pure sensation, the world narrowing to the pulse of her own heartbeat between her thighs. He never broke the kiss, devouring her moans as she came around his cock.
His rhythm faltered as she clenched around him. He groaned deep and raw with need as she locked her legs tighter, dragging him in as deep as he could go. One more thrust and he came with a ragged moan, spilling hot inside her.
They stayed locked together afterward, foreheads pressed, fingers threaded tight. Noah reached for Fallonâs hand, threading his fingers with hers and squeezing gently, neither of them willing to let go.Â

Fallon lay curled against Noah, her head resting against his chest as his fingers traced absentminded patterns over the tattoos scattered across her arm. His touch was gentle, almost curious, following the lines of a moth near her shoulder before moving toward the smaller pieces along her forearm.
"How many of these do you have?" he asked quietly.
"Honestly? I've lost count."
He grinned. "That many?"
She lifted her head slightly to look at him. "You have a lot too, a lot more than me."
"Yeah, but mine are mostly an excuse to avoid having empty skin."
Fallon chuckled softly and settled back against him.
His fingers paused over one of the smaller tattoos. "What's this one?"
"That one?" She glanced down. "Friday the 13th flash sale."
"That's it?"
"That's it."
He shook his head, smiling. "I thought there'd be some profound story."
The room fell quiet again. Eventually, Fallon shifted beneath the blankets. "I need water."
"Yeah. Me too."
They dressed quietly, neither quite knowing what to say as the reality of the night began creeping back in around the edges. Fallon led him down the short hallway toward the kitchen, flicking on the light as they entered.
Noah stopped in the doorway and looked around slowly.
The familiar bookshelf. The collection of vinyl records on the wall, the cat padding quietly through the room. The same apartment he'd spent countless Tuesdays seeing in pieces through a computer screen.
His lips curled ever so slightly.
"This is weird."
Fallon glanced over her shoulder. "What?"
"It feels like I've been here before."
She paused.
"I've seen this place so many times." He gestured around. "The vinyls, the purple curtains, your dead plant."
"Hey, it's in recovery," she laughed.
She handed him a glass of water, watching him take a drink. For a moment, neither of them said anything. The joke had brought some lightness back into the room, but beneath it was something neither of them could ignore anymore. Noah had finally stepped into the world he'd spent nearly two years seeing through a screen, and tonight, they'd crossed into something neither of them could pretend was part of therapy.
Fallon took a long drink of her water.Â
"So..." She glanced at him, setting her glass down. "I guess we'll need to talk about... you know." She gestured vaguely between the two of them.
Noah raised an eyebrow. "C'mon. Don't go all therapist on me already."
He opened his arms and she melted into him.
She laughed, shaking her head. "I'm serious."
"I know." His smile faded slightly as he leaned them back against the counter. "I know."
The silence returned for a moment.
Fallon nuzzled her head into his chest. "This is... complicated."
"Yeah."
"Really complicated."
"Extremely."
"But..." She glanced up at him, a smirk tugging at her lips, "I guess Iâm obligated to ask, how did that make you feel?"
Noah stared at her for a beat before breaking into a laugh. "Seriously?"
Fallon shrugged innocently, "It's a perfectly reasonable question."
"You're terrible." He shook his head and grinned, resting his chin on her head. "Letâs just say it made me feel really fuckinâ good."
The alcohol had settled into a slight buzz by the time they climbed back into bed. Fallon curled against Noah, her head resting comfortably against his chest as he wrapped an arm around her. The Plot in You played softly from her record player, a song they both knew well, filling the otherwise quiet room.
For a moment, Fallon simply let herself exist there. His warmth surrounded her, his fingers tracing absentminded patterns along her arm. It felt strangely natural, despite how impossible the night had been.
A soft weight landed against Noah's legs. Fallon lifted her head to find her cat settling comfortably into his lap, deciding he'd found a new favorite person.
Noah looked down at him, "Well, I guess I've been accepted."
Fallon smiled sleepily and tucked herself closer into his arms.

**This is a HORROR FICTION. If you are not comfortable with horror themes such as murder, violence, or gore, I sincerely suggest skipping this one.
A Rash Decision
The morning passed slowly, most everyone sleeping in while you woke up before the sunrise. You took it upon yourself to fire up the coffee machine. Moving through the kitchen, you wiped the countertops of residual dirt and cobwebs that had formed over years of neglect.
When the sun began to bathe the walls in morning light, you poured yourself a cup, and stepped out onto the deck. The air was cool, and your thin sweater was plenty to keep you warm, even with your yoga shorts and tank top on. You learned late last night that the cell service was extremely unreliable at the cabin, so you elected to leave your device upstairs and lean back in the patio chair and breathed in the air around you.
As your eyes roamed over the dark wood of the deck, a large spot near the stairs stood out because it was just slightly darker than the rest. It looked wet, as if it had been soaked at some point. You couldnât remember if it had looked that way the night before, but it was entirely possible that it had rained. Or perhaps some sprinklers had gone off and dampened the mahogany.
You didnât burden yourself with wondering.
After a good twenty minutes of listening to the morning sparrows singing and the forest around you slowly coming to life for the day, a clicking sound behind you made you turn to look. Noahâs tall frame, hair still rumpled with sleep and eyes narrowed, stepped out with a calm smile on his lips and steaming mug in his hand.
âMorning, sunshine.â You grinned at him, amused by his tired face. âAnyone else up, yet?â
Shaking his head, he relaxed down into the chair next to you. âI didnât see anyone.â
âWhy not try and get some more sleep?â
He yawned, stretching an arm over his head âAnd leave you out here all alone? No chance.â
You fell into easy, comfortable conversation about how you slept. He mentioned his insomnia kept him up most the night, tossing and turning until he eventually fell into a fitful sleep.
âDid you bring your sleep meds, Noah?â You asked, staring at him expectantly. Noah was forgetful when it came to his own self-care.
He smirked sheepishly. âI did not.â
Shaking your head, you finished your coffee. âWell, when we head down to the creek, we can try to find a store that has over the counter stuff. I also brought my Melatonin.â
âEh,â He grunted. âMelatonin gives me weird dreams.â
âBut at least youâre sleeping.â You pointed out, and he reluctantly agreed.
After another half an hour of you both waking up more, conversation flowing, you stretched your limbs - arms above your head and legs outward. Eyes closed, you felt a hand land on the shin of your left leg, and you opened your eyes to see Noah, fingers gently holding your leg and inching it toward him. You snickered, knowing what he was doing, and lifted your leg to rest over his thighs. His hands came to rest on your calf, fingers kneading into the muscle.
It was a small bit of affection you and Noah were familiar with. He was a very hands-on individual, showing his emotion with physical touch. It was a loose arm hung over your shoulders while you walked through stores, his head in your lap during movie nights as you scratched your nails over his scalp. His fingers pressing into your shoulders as you spent hours in front of your laptop, working on a tour schedule to send to Matt for approval. A warm hug when you found yourself feeling angry and overwhelmed.
Noah was a physical being, and it was always so calm and unconditional, that you let yourself enjoy it whenever it came. It wasnât a secret that you and Noah were sweet on each other enough that if either of you would allow it, youâd likely see where your friendship could go. But, once again, your professional relationship was too important to risk. So you kept to comfortable touches and never let it go too far.
But today, alone in the forest, the cicadas matching the buzz in your chest, and new sparks that you havenât noticed before sizzling in your stomach, something about the way his fingers skimmed the skin of your leg had your eyes unfocusing. The way the sunlight was coming in behind his head, his face looking entirely content, you could feel your mouth watering.
Had his lips always been that pink? Had his hair always looked so perfectly haphazard? His tattooed fingers on your skin looked like they matched your body. Like they belonged there.
âY/N?â Your thoughts pulled back to where he was stared at you, eyebrows pulled up. âYou okay?â
Nodding, letting the thoughts fall out of your head enough to respond, you smiled. âYeah, sorry,â You sighed, pulling your leg out of his grasp. âJust tired still.â
The disappointment at the loss of connection was written on his face. âSame.â He still smiled back at you, as he always did.
The heat had made its grand entrance, making one single drop of sweat roll down the back of your neck to the string of your bikini top. Your feet swayed slowly in the rushing water of the large creek. Folio stood out in the water, fishing pole in hand, focused on trying to catch anything he could.
âSo,â Sidney started from where she sat next to you. âHowâre things with Noah?â
You narrowed your eyes, pursing your lips. This was nothing new from Sid, always trying to insinuate there was something going on between you and the frontman of the band. âWhat do you mean?â
Playing dumb was the easiest response.
âI saw you with your leg on him this morning.â You rolled your eyes. âAnd by the way you two were in the back of the truck giggling at each other the entire ride over, I just figured maybe a romantic cabin getaway was enough to finally get you guys to admit your feelings for each other.â
Her tone was so casual as she took a long pull from her hydroflask.
You were not amused. âChrist, Sid. What is with you and the fairytale romance fantasies? Noah and I are friends.â
She smiled. âSo were Nick and I. For six years.â
âOkay, well just because youâre willing to jeopardize your job, Iâm not.â It was harsh, but it was true.
âNot even for Noah?â Her voice was smaller now, looking directly at you. âDonât bullshit me, Y/N. I know you like him.â
You felt the blush crawling up your chest.
âAnd he clearly likes you. He only stares at you like a puppy dog. Heâs liked you for a while. He even told Nick.â She tossed the last statement out like it was a quick add-on, but your mouth fell open.
âNo he didnât.â You challenged her, but she just smirked.
She lifted her hand in defense. âHe mentioned it a few weeks ago, that he was excited for this trip because he felt like you two never got any time together anymore. When Nick called him out about being down bad, he didnât even try to deny it.â
Heart rate picking up, you felt your breathing shallow. You two never talked about it. It was an unspoken whisper between you two that you always just chalked up to being better off unsaid. But to hear that he had admitted to someone that he was into you? Had been excited to spend time with you?
Those butterflies you typically pressed down and locked away burst out of their confines and began a frenzy in your gut.
âI think you should go for it. I donât see that ending badly. You two are perfect for each other.â Sid continued, but you could barely think straight.
Something about this conversation was sending your anxiety into overdrive. âSidney, I canât just go for it. Thereâs too much at stake.â
She sighed in annoyance. âLike?â
âLike, heâs technically my employer - for one.â You pointed at her. âAlso, heâsâŚâ You struggled to find the right word. Your boss? No. He hated being considered in charge of anyone. Your friend? After today, that didnât really feel right either.
Sidney stared at you in expectation of you to finish your thought.
âHeâs just,â You growled in frustration. âHeâs Noah!â
âI mean, yeah,â A deep voice came from directly above where you two sat, and your blood ran cold. âBut I like to believe being called Mr. Davis is an option as well.â His tone was amused, and his eyes held a mischievous sparkle that you didnât recognize.
Noah was soft and safe. Sweet and silly. The epitome of comfort and considerate.
But now, as he was staring down at you, he looked almost, devilish? Like he was up to something. He was planning a prank or something. He had to be.
âHey,â You stammered, and Sid turned around, giggling to herself. âH-How long have you been standing there?â
Shit-eating grin in place, he moved to sit next to you, his freakishly long legs reaching the water with ease. âI had just walked up and heard my name.â
Something in his tone told you he was lying, but you had no way to know otherwise.
âWhereâs Jolly and Davis?â Sid asked, and he leaned forward to speak to her. âThey found a hiking trail. Bryan is still off somewhere taking pictures. He found a deer and decided to follow her.â He ended on a chuckle.
You nodded. âWhy didnât Matt want to come?â When he didnât join everyone in the truck this morning, you werenât exactly heartbroken.
Noah shrugged. âDavis said he went to go meditate or some shit?â
You and Sidney scoffed in unison.
âY/N?â You turned to look at Noah, your eyes catching on his bare shoulders exposed by his tank top. âI found something cool, can I show you?â
A tiny smile pulled the corner of your lips, and he stood, holding a hand out to help you off of the rock where you perched.
Following closely behind Noah, his hand grasped around yours to keep you within reach, you wove through low tree limbs and fallen logs. Deeper and deeper into the forest, you could feel a touch of unease as you began losing sense of direction or how to get back to your group.
âHow much further, Noah?â
He glanced back at you, that typical, relaxed expression on his face again. âAlmost there.â
Another five minutes of walking, and nearly stumbling, through the denser forest around you, Noah finally pulled you through a line of tightly packed trees. On the other side, a clearing opened, soft green grass underfoot and the sound of the forest quieting just slightly. Overtaking the chimes of the landscape was the sound of frogs, and your eyes bulged. A small pond nestled on the far right side of the clearing caught your attention, and you padded slowly over to it. Inside, an ecosystem lived with frogs, tadpoles, small shiner fish, and a few turtles scattered. The tiniest oasis amidst the fog of the trees around you.
It was mystical in its own regard, making a feeling of pure joy encapsulate you.
âNoah!â You squealed, kneeling down next to the water. âHow did you find this?â
He came to sit next to you, legs crossed in front of him. âI never hike the trails. I find cooler shit that way.â
You watched as a red-eared slider climbed onto a rock out of the water, a frog hopping just in front of it.
The entire scene was stunning. Nothing you imagined him showing you when he told you he had found something âcoolâ. You halfway expected him to show you an old campsite or a dead animal, like some horror movie set in a remote cabin in the woods
Instead, he showed you the gorgeous, secluded clearing that made your insides buzz with excitement.
âI thought youâd like it.â He murmured, his eyes cast on you when you turned your head to look at him.
âI love it. Itâs beautiful.â
Smiling, he played with a rock between his fingers. âBeautiful place for a beautiful girl.â
And there it was, that shift in the air you felt every so often when Noah would be gentle. When he would do something so considerate and surprising that your throat would dry. Your toes curled in your flip-flops, the temptation to reach out and touch his hand itching at you.
âNoah?â You asked him, instead. He lifted his head to give you his full attention. Round, chocolate eyes bearing down on you. You pressed forward before your nerve escaped. âDo you like me?â
His eyes softened, clearing choosing his next words carefully. âOf course I do. Youâre one of my best friends.â
Looking down at the grass, you chewed your lip. âBut do you like me, Noah?â
You couldnât meet his eyes, so you focused on uprooting individual strands of grass.
âWhat if I do?â
Your heart skittered to a stop, hearing him say it making all of those emotions youâd been swallowing burn hot inside your body.
Before you could stop yourself, you turned to him, where he waited for a response. Your fingers reached up to wrap in his tank top, pulling him toward you and connecting your lips.
Noah was everything you expected. Soft, warm, minty with an underlying coffee flavor. His mouth melted into yours, his hand lifting to grip the back of your neck to pull you closer.
After a moment of soft exploration, pulling back and letting your eyes search his. He looked borderline stunned and starving. You knew the feeling well, as it was gnawing at your insides.
Fuck it.
Bracing your hand on his shoulder, you pulled yourself up and latched your mouth back onto his. His hands reached to grip the skin of your hips, exposed as the long cardigan you wore over your bikini had fallen open. His arms guided you until you dropped down onto his lap, legs straddling his.
Mouths entangled and tongues dancing together, your hands feverishly gripped at his hair, needing to be closer. Noahâs hips pressed up to brush his growing erection against your core, which made a shudder shake your body. He pulled back, lips capturing the skin above your collarbone and nipping at it gently. Your head fell back as you ground yourself into him, feeling his cock and your core barely separated by the fabric of your bottoms and his swim trunks.
A low, guttural moan erupted from his throat, which only ignited the fire smoldering deep within your belly. With your fingers in his hair, you pulled his face back to you, stealing the breath right out of his mouth.
âY/N,â He gasped between kisses. âWe shouldnât.â
Logically, your brain agreed. You just acknowledged your feelings for Noah, and it was all happening so fast. You knew you should slow down. Give yourself time to digest the sensations bouncing in your head, but the way his hands kneaded your ass, his hips pressed against you, and his teeth pulled at your bottom lip had any want to stop far from your mind.
âI know.â You responded, letting your tongue taste the skin under his ear. âWe should.â
His hand slipped around your waist, index finger pulling at the strings on your hips. Your hands began pulling at the fabric on his back, and he pulled away from you long enough to slip the wife beater over his head. You took a second to stare at him, appreciating the hardened muscle of his chest and stomach. The skin covered in tattoos and heaving while he panted.
You had seen Noah shirtless so many times, but this time was different. You had him under your fingertips. He was yours in that moment. To touch. To taste. The fire blazed through you, fingertips running down his chest.
âGod damn it, Noah.â You whispered. He cocked a brow at you. âYouâre so fucking beautiful.â
He smiled lazily, his hand slipping under your bottoms, fingertips finding your core and brushing over your clit. Breath hitched, you leaned back to allow better access.
His eyes fixed on you, all appreciation, as he explored you. His fingers were gentle, sliding through your folds achingly slow.
âYouâve got it twisted,â His mouth hung open as he watched your breasts move as your breathing sped up. âYouâre so fucking pretty like this.â
When you met his eyes, they had nearly gone black.
âBeen thinking about this moment for so long. Getting to have you. Kiss you.â He punctuated his next words by slipping a finger inside of you. âFeel you.â
You almost fell off his lap, but an arm around your waist kept you steady as his fingers worked you. His middle finger slipped inside of you as well, the stretch making your head fall back, as his thumb pressed into your clit in rhythmic circles.
âYou ever thought about it, Y/N?â His voice was velvet against the heat your skin radiated. âEver pictured me touching you?â
You nodded, hips bucking into his hand. Your slick was coating his palm, and had you not been so unbearably desperate for release, you may have been embarrassed.
âGod, youâre fucking soaked.â He groaned, his lips reached to meet the skin between your breasts. âIâd kill to be inside you.â
Your brain short-circuited, unable to form coherent thoughts. His ministrations had your head spinning off its axis.
âRight now, I just want you to come. Right here, with me.â He adjusted his legs so you were sat even closer to him. âThink you can do that for me, pretty girl?â
Your hands braced on his shoulders, your eyes rolling back as the band inside your stomach began to tighten dangerously close to the breaking point.
âNoahâŚâ You moaned, begging for the orgasm building inside of you. âItâs so fucking good.â
He pulled you back, his lips crashing into yours and swallowing all the noises you couldnât suppress. His cock was pressing into your ass, his hips moving to gain some kind of friction. The vulgarity of it had you spiraling, and you wouldnât last.
âPlease, oh God,â You breathed into his mouth.
âNo God, baby. Just me and you.â
His words, his hands, his lips, his dick. It was all that existed as that wave crested over you, your walls clamping down around his fingers. You flooded the fabric of your bottoms, his hand covered before it slowed and eventually pulled out enough to lightly press your clit.
The overstimulation made you jump, and he smiled wickedly at you. You pushed a soft kiss into his lips, and he pulled his hand out of your bathing suit.
You both sat for a while, Noah letting you softly come down from your euphoria as he placed soft kisses on your shoulder.
âWhat about you?â You asked suddenly.
His cheeks turned a tinge of red, his grin timid.
âIâm okay.â He laughed half-heartedly. âI kind ofâŚalreadyâŚâ
Realization slapped you hard, and you couldnât help the giggle threatening to spill out. You slapped a hand over your mouth to prevent it.
He came in his shorts.
You hadnât even noticed with how enraptured you were while his hand worked you over.
âWell,â You mused, thumb brushing over his cheek. âNext time.â
You both walked back to the creek, after some cleanup and adjustments, just in time for the group to tell you they had been looking for you and wanted to head back to the cabin.
Sidney caught the way Noahâs hand held your low back, and smiled viciously. You ignored her.
The drive back was short, not even an entire ten minutes. âWhy did we drive down here anyway? We couldâve walked.â
Folio looked up at you in the rearview. âI was not walking all of my fishing gear down there.â
âFair enough.â You commented, and felt Noahâs hand grip your knee as his eyes looked out the window.
You bit back your smile.
Back at the cabin, Folio, Davis, Jolly, and Bryan all began unpacking the gear. Noah had rounded to the front of the truck to check one of the tires that Folio told him looked low before we left the creek.
You and Sidney stood, waiting for the guys to grab all of the chairs and coolers from the truck. Sid eventually became impatient, groaning. âIâll meet you guys inside. I have to pee.â
âThanks for the info.â Jolly grumbled, and you laughed.
âYou guys need help?â You asked, but Noah came to your side, grabbing one of the large coolers from Davis.
As Folio pushed the hatch closed, everyone turned for the cabin. Before you could begin for the stairs to the porch, a blood-curdling scream ripped through the mountain air, making all of you freeze in place.
âSidney!â You shouted, dropping your bag and sprinting for the open door.
Inside, you ran right into her back, stunned, and grabbed onto her. You stepped in front of her body, looking at her face. Her eyes were blown wide, and her skin was sheer white, mouth agape.
âSid?! Whatâs wrong?â Your hands grabbed her arms, but she didnât respond.
The guys all began piling in, but stopped short, faces matching Sidneyâs. You noticed her eyes staring behind you. Something in your head screamed not to turn around, not to look, but you didnât listen.
What you saw, your mind almost couldnât comprehend. A black, tactical rope was hung from the upper bannister of the staircase, pulled taught with the weight on it. On the floor was a puddle of red, thick, blood that was getting darker by the second. The air had a pungent, rotten smell that your throat closed around.
The worst part, by far, was the body, a sickly grayish green color, rope tied around the neck. Throat sliced, his shirt was soaked in the same red blood that had began changing to an ungodly brown against the white fabric.
Beneath the body, in the pool of blood, was a pile of what appeared to be entrails of various types. The longer you stared, the more you could make out. Intestines, a kidney, liverâŚ
Your eyes tracked up the body, the dirty blonde hair matted up with the blood that once lived in the carotid artery, eyes open to stare right down at you. Mattâs face was frozen in a dead scream.
As your brain processed what you were seeing, you felt the panic rise from your gut up into your throat until you, yourself, let out an ear-splitting scream.

Notes: Happy Kinktober! I'm not going to be able to participate fully (thanks to my shitty full time job) but I wanted to get at least one idea out there. I took some artistic liberties with the inner working of vampiresâmostly so that vampire boners make some sort of sense. But overall, Noah is very toxic and very obsessive. Something about a scary, sex driven vampire really gets me going...
Please be aware that this oneshot has darker themes. Do not read or interact if any of the tags above make you uncomfortable.
Noahâs favorite part of the week is the time he gets to spend with you. Youâre his favorite person, his sun in which his version of the world revolves around. He truly looks forward to it, counting down the very seconds until heâs in your apartment, watching you breathe, exist.Â
Right now is one of those precious moments. Youâre doing your daily chores after a long day of work and Noah is simply observing. Youâve cleaned the kitchen and the living room, putting everything back in its perfect place. Your favorite blanketâwhich is pink and fluffyâis folded neatly and slung over the worn-out couch. Your shoes are all in place by the front door. The leftovers of the pasta you whipped up are in containers and stacked on a shelf in the fridge.Â
Noah knows just how much you like your apartment clean and organized and because of that, he wouldnât dare disrupt your routine. So heâs been patiently waiting in your bedroom.Â
You hum a soft, unrecognizable tune that swirls in Noahâs ears louder and louder as you get closer to the room. When you step through the threshold, his throat immediately burns with want. Youâre wearing pajama shorts that barely cover your ass and youâve tucked a tanktop into them which is pushing your breasts together, nipples poking through the thin fabric. An oversized hoodie is only zipped up to your belly button and it falls off your shoulder since you donât care to keep it on right. In your hands is a basket full of laundry and the smell of clean chemicals stings his nostrils, distracting him from your perfect scent.
He leans against the wall, masked by the shadows so that thereâs no way youâll see him until he wants you to. You plop the basket on your bed and begin folding idly, creating little piles in your own system of organization. When you reach in and retrieve a pair of pantiesâa black thong with intricate lace detailingâNoahâs composure goes out the window.Â
The feral, uncontrollable groan that escapes from his lips is a setback. He was supposed to stay hidden until he could catch you off guard but he never has been good at self-control.Â
You whip around, eyes wide and skin pale as you search for the source of the noise. He steps out of the darkness, hands tucked in his pockets leisurely with a lazy smile tugging at his lips, fangs on full display. His eyes are completely black as his pupils swallow them whole. He looks otherworldly, terrifying. He can hear the rapid increase in your heartbeat, the way it spikes with intrigue and pure fear. It excites him, makes this far more fun.Â
âHi, sweet thing,â he purrs.Â
A blood curdling scream rips from your throat as you jump, scrambling closer to the bed and as far away from him as possible. The commotion causes your laundry basket to topple onto the floor. Your scent has gone sour but itâs still so enticing to Noah.Â
âHow did you get in here?â You ask, eyes frantically searching the room. Your window is closed, blinds drawn tightly shut like always.Â
âThe same way I always do.â Itâs nonchalant and not a real answer at all.Â
The hair on your arms stands straight as goosebumps line them. You stumble backwards to create even more space. The sheets bundle and the clothes you just folded are now crumpled underneath you.Â
Heâs standing completely still, hasnât moved a muscle or an inch closer to you. His chest doesnât heave with breath and his eyes are unblinking. Heâs an intricate marble statue disguised as a man.Â
Heâs the deadliest predator and youâre the perfect prey.
âDo I know you?â Your voice wavers.Â
At this, heâs offended. He finally moves, putting a hand to his unbeating heart to show just how much youâve wounded him.Â
âThat hurts, sweet thing,â he pouts. âOf course you do.â
You squint, clearly racking your brain for why his face looks so familiar. When it finally dawns on you, realization makes your eyes widen and your mouth hang open as you make a noise of recognition. âThe bar. Bad Omens, right?â
Noah nods, sliding his hand back into his pocket. âThatâs right.â
His clan runs the place. Although, he doesnât bother himself with that part of it since he isnât interested in maintaining a façade for the enjoyment of humans.Â
He often finds his next victims there, spending hours watching them before going in for the kill. He learns their mannerisms, soaking in exactly how their bodies move when they speak, laugh, or even breatheâevery action sluggish and lazy from the alcohol in their veins. He imagines the way theyâll struggle or scream for help. And then he chooses, picking the most helpless of the bunch, the one that will cry the hardest.Â
He's a sadist in that way, inflicting the most pain in the shortest amount of time, just to give the poor human one last adrenaline rush, one last real moment of living before ripping it away from them. Itâs out of the kindness of his heart. He could be fast, sure, but whereâs the fun in that? He likes to play with his food and really savor the kill. Plus, their blood tastes better to him when theyâre scared.
âAre you a regular?â You ask. âI feel like Iâve seen you there a lot.â
He chuckles, a low continuous rumble where his body should move with the sound. âMy friend owns the place.â
âOh, Jolly?â Your eyebrows shoot up to your hairline. âI didnât know you were friends.â
The muscles in his jaw tickâa real, human-like movementâwhen that name rolls off your tongue.Â
Jolly is a product of Noahâs venomâjust like the rest of the clan. He made them all out of selflessness, claiming he wanted to give them purpose, save them from the monotony of human life. In the vampire world, he owns Jolly, owns all of them. Folio, Nicholas, Matt, Davis.Â
And this? You knowing his name, saying it so casually? Itâs a slap in the face, a betrayal.Â
Possessiveness is a bitch. And when it comes to you, heâs not willing to have any one of his men entertain even an inkling of a chance. Now that he knows thereâs some familiarity between you and Jolly, heâs going to be sure to put a stop to it.
âWeâre friends,â he grits out between clenched teeth.Â
âDid he send you here?â Youâre trying to seem calm and appreciative, but your heartbeat is betraying you. It hasnât slowed down at all. âI told him I wouldnât be there this week. Itâs really nice of you to check on me but you could have just knocked.âÂ
âDo you even know my name?â He asks, completely ignoring your words and cocking his head to the side in a challenge.Â
Youâre his girl. He has dedicated every moment to you. How could you not know something as simple as his name?Â
You blink. âHave you told it to me before?âÂ
This would make his blood boil if it was still pumped through his body. Instead, it only ignites the fuel in his chest, creating an inextinguishable fire and melting away any semblance of his mortal self. His lips curl higher into a mischievous grin. You shiver at the sight, unsettled, but it only makes him smile wider, showing off his fangs even more as they glisten in the low light.Â
âIâm sure I have.â
Adrenaline rushes through you and smells salty. He can practically guess the way itâll mix with your sweetness when he finally gets a taste.
âIâm sorry.â Your words tumble out quickly. âI must have forgotten. Can you remind me?âÂ
Noah clicks his tongue and takes another step forward. His strides are long, as if heâs merely floating over to you. Your eyes flick down to his boots, confusion taking over your face at his sheer speed. Youâre desperately trying to get away but the moment your back hits the headboard, you wince, knowing thereâs nowhere else to go. Curling inward, you wrap your arms around yourself as if they are a good enough shield.Â
Noah crawls onto the bed with feline-like movements. âOh sweet thing,â he purrs. âIâm going to make sure you never forget it again.âÂ
A terrified whimper escapes you and it sends a rush through Noah as if youâre a drug he canât quite get enough of. You use his stunned expression to your advantage and roll on your side, attempting to get off the bed and be closer to the door.Â
He knows what youâre going to do long before you do it, reaching out to grab your leg and pull you toward him effortlessly, like you weigh nothing at all. Scrambling for any sort of leverage, you kick wildly. Noah growls in frustration, digging his claw-like nails into your ankle. You yelp, kicking one last time with all your might. It lands, hitting Noah in the chest. It doesnât hurt him at all because his body feels as if itâs made of steel, not flesh and muscle, but he does let go of you for the smallest second to readjust.Â
Your thrashing is more of a harm to you than to Noah and the miscalculation causes you to drop to the floor and slam your head against the hardwood. This would have been the perfect moment to flee, to run out of the room and find anything to help defend yourself against him. Instead, youâre dazed, room spinning as you attempt to pick up your head and focus your vision forward.Â
Noah slowly steps off the bed and bends down to your level, cocking his head to the side. He moves so much like a big cat, all fluid and inhuman. He blinks curiously as he observes the state youâre in.Â
âWhy did you do that?â He questions in a monotone drawl.Â
âGet away from me!â You cry, words slurring and voice small, as you struggle to sit up. A shaky hand instinctively goes to the back of your head and you whine at the connection of skin to raw flesh.Â
The moment you realize youâre injured is the exact second Noah smells your blood. He hisses, reacting on nothing but instinct. The sound is visceral, echoing through the entire room.Â
Your blood is the best thing Noah has ever had the privilege of experiencing. He has your scent memorizedâfreshly picked strawberries and cashmere mixed with your natural musk that creates something sweet and cleanâfrom all the times youâve passed him in the club and from taking your clothes for his personal stash. But this is different. Itâs burning his nostrils, making his throat close with want. His teeth ache, gums throbbing. Heâs completely consumed by it, by you.Â
Blood is pouring down from the gash on your head and trailing down your neck, pooling in the dips of your collar bones. Pressing your fingers into the wound for any hope of stopping the flow is useless.Â
âPlease,â you whisper in a disoriented mumble. âWhat do you want?â
âIsnât it obvious?â He knows that to you, it isnât. But that's okay. You're still learning. âI want you, sweet thing.â
âMe?â You repeat. âWhy?â
Noah stands up straight, towering over you. You look up at him through your eyelashes, pupils blown wide and tears swimming in them. Itâs a beautiful sight, one he hopes to remember for centuries.Â
âWhen we first met at the bar, I thought it was an accident,â he muses. âI wasnât sure why a sweet thing like you would go to a dingy place like that. But you just kept showing up. And I knew there had to be a reason.â
âJolly's nice,â you explain innocently. âAnd all the other bars in town are much worse.â
Noah hums in agreement, pointing a long, boney finger at you. âExactly. You felt drawn to it. But why? Then it dawned on me. You liked me, wanted to see more of me.â
You bristle as if that simply canât be true. But Noah knows it is and he continues to explain himself.
âI knew you couldnât stay away, knew you felt the same connection I did. Who am I to deny you what you want?â
âI donât know what youâre talking about,â you cry.
âAh,â he exclaims, leaning back over to touch his pointed finger against your temple harshly, pressing it in. He bends unnaturally, dropping his hand to make room for his face until his cheek is pressed up against yours.Â
âYou're obsessed with me,â He purrs. âBut that's okay, sweet thing. The feeling is mutual.âÂ
Your eyes become the size of saucers and you rapidly shake your head, feet scrambling against the floor in yet another desperate attempt to create space between the two of you. Blood mattes your hair, splatters into the comforter beside you, and creates a puddle at your feet. You're losing it fast.Â
âWhat are you doing?â He asks, sitting up and grabbing you roughly by the neck, collaring you with a tattooed hand and a punishing grip.Â
Noah knows the answer. You're so overwhelmed by the interaction, by him, that youâre not thinking clearly. Surely, you aren't trying to get away? Not after he's pointed out that you both want the same things?Â
âPlease,â you whimper.Â
He's so close, nose bumping against yours. His is so pointed and perfect, mimicking the same sharpness as his jawâand his teeth.Â
âPlease what, sweet thing? What do you want? You can tell me. I'll listen.âÂ
âDon't hurt me.â A tiny plea that is so pathetic he almost coos at you as if youâre a baby heâs trying to soothe.Â
Instead, he leans back, offended once again.Â
âI'm here for quite the opposite,â he promises. âI want to make you feel good.â
âYouâŚyou do?â You sniffle. Noah can smell the way a modicum of your fear disappears, leaving a trail of strawberries in its wake.Â
He nods, forcing his expression to be softer, more believable, even though he's still holding onto your throat. Heâs doing a great job controlling himself but his eyes continue to dart down to stripes of blood that mare your skin.Â
Heâs been so patient but he doesnât want to wait anymore. You're weak, increasingly affected by the blood loss, and desperate to please him. He knows you want him and heâs so charitable that heâs willing to give in.
âI do,â he repeats. âDoes your head hurt?â
He knows it does and that fire in his chest licks against his skin when you nod.Â
âI can take away your pain, sweet thing. Will you let me?â
Thatâs not all heâs going to do but itâs the start of his plan, at least.
Being able to thrall someone is not something every vampire can do. Noah is a maker, gifted with more than just an insatiable hunger and immense physical power. Heâs a rare breed, one of only three in existence. Itâs yet another thing that fuels his ego.Â
The rest of his clan are all of special status tooâa product of being made from Noahâs venom. The most notable are Folioâs shadow manipulation and Mattâs mimicâor shapeshiftingâcapabilities.Â
Noahâs strong handle on his thrall is deadly. He has spent the majority of his vampire life honing it in and perfecting the way he tangles himself into his victimâs mind.Â
The hesitation on your face would be sobering to anyone else but to Noah? Itâs an added layer of fun you so graciously give him. After a single beat of silence, you finally nodâyour chin barely dipping down in agreement.Â
Itâs all the confirmation he needs. He removes his hand from your neck, earning a gasp of relief as you struggle for air, and instead, puts both of them on your cheeks to keep you steady. Heâs sure you havenât noticed but youâve started to sway lightlyâan inevitable result of the blood loss, adrenaline rush, and pure terror youâve experienced in such a short time. Humans are so fragile.Â
Noah looks directly into your eyesâendless black meets glassâand the moment you focus on him, he pushes. Not physically, no, this is something that goes beyond that. It feels as if his mind, his very essence, is stepping inside of you one limb at a time.Â
âJust let it happen,â he coos, voice as soft as silk, like the prettiest piano melody youâve ever heard. Itâs warming, inviting. âLet the pain wash away. Let yourself go.â
Thereâs a second where you struggle, where your body thrashes violently against his hold. But itâs over so quick, as if you never did it at all.Â
He feels the moment you give in, the moment your mind blanks. Itâs not necessarily a surprise to him but itâs still a satisfying rush when the only thing echoing in your mind is how much you want him.Â
He smiles wide and pulls back, admiring his work. Vampires usually need some sort of continuous contact to thrall but Noahâs power is beyond something that simple. He could walk away, leave you there for days, and youâd still be under his control until he finally gets bored and lets go of his hold on your mind. With you though? The chances of that are slim.
Your eyes turn completely milky white and your mouth hangs up, as if you need Noahâs permission to breathe.Â
âWhat a good girl,â he praises. âDo you feel any more pain?â
âNo.â Your body sits completely still on the floor. No more panic, no more struggling.Â
âAnd what do you say to me for helping you?â
âThank you.â Your words are automatic.
The thrall is mostly used to force the truth from someone but Noah makes his victims puppets on strings instead, putting on a marionette show for himself.Â
âNot good enough,â he growls. âThank you, what?â
âThank you, master.âÂ
âThatâs better,â he hums, looking down at his hands for a moment. Theyâre stained red, mixing with the colors of his tattoos and giving them a tint heâs used to. Without hesitation, he lifts one to his mouth and holds out his tongue, dragging a finger down it to get a taste before closing his lips around it and savoring every last drop.Â
His body shudders as it coats his throat.Â
You watch, unaffected by the scene simply because he doesnât care to control you when heâs busy tasting you. When heâs finally done, his eyes flick back up to meet yours.
âI want more, sweet thing,â he states. âWhat else can you do for me?â
The possibilities are absolutely endless but he has his mind set on particular things tonight. He effortlessly pushes the thoughts into your mind, just so no one has to work for them.Â
âLet me please you,â you offer. âUse me.â
He lets out a satisfied hum as if you thought of such things on your own, as if heâs proud of you for giving yourself to him.Â
âSince you sound so prettyâŚâÂ
At lightning speed, he wraps a hand around your hair and yanks, pulling you off your feet. They hover just inches off the ground. Blood immediately clings to the long digits curling around damp strands.Â
You donât fight him. You simply watch, mesmerized as he plops you onto the bed with so much force that the legs give out and the frame collides with the floor in an echoing boom. Heâs been so gentle with you, barely using a small percentage of his real strength, but thereâs no reason for that now. You belong to him and he can be as rough as he wants. Noah stalks over your body, covering you completely with his broad shoulders and wide, muscular frame. Heâs massive, strong, and youâre so frail. He canât wait to break you.
With a smirk and without lifting a finger, he releases the hold on your mind by a tiny fraction, just enough to make you aware of the rising desire in your chest. A whimper escapes you as you try to clench your thighs together, desperate for friction.
Noah tuts, reaching a hand down to push them apart roughly. Your knees bend and hit the bed, spreading your legs as wide as theyâll go. The sweetness of your blood mixes with the headiness of your slick and it drives Noah mad, causing him to dig his nails into your skin, puncturing it with ease.
While heâs made you slightly more lucid, heâs still keeping a firm grip on your pain receptors. You look down, watch as blood slowly drips down your leg, and smile lazily at him.
âDo you want another taste?â You ask innocently.Â
âHow sweet of you to ask,â he murmurs, already bending down and pressing his cheek against your inner thigh. âBut I donât need your permission.âÂ
His tongue darts out, catching the droplets that have begun to gather and licking all the way to the wound. Once thereâs nothing but a slight red tint on your skin, he presses a kiss to injury. His lips hover before he strikes. No hesitation, no moment to let the remnants of your brain catch up. He sinks his fangs in and they pierce through your skin so easily, like you were made to tear and rip apart for him. A desperate slurping sound and tiny whimpers are all that can be heard. You wrap your hands in his hair, tugging at the pieces that curl at the base of his neck by his earsânot because you want him to stop. No. Because it feels so good.
Your pleasure is amplified by the thrall but thereâs nothing as numbing and consuming as a makerâs venom. He isnât going to turn you into a vmpireâat least not yetâbut he has already shown that he has no problem toying with your mind.Â
When the taste of your blood weakens, signaling he could be seconds away from killing you, he reluctantly pulls off, catching your eyes. Dark red gathers on his plump and pink bottom lip before dribbling down his jaw and onto his neck. He looks otherworldly and you should be terrified. But youâre not.Â
Your smile widens and you sit up, gently using your grip on his hair to guide his face towards you. He gives in, knows what youâre attempting. Stained red lips crash into yours, fangs scraping, tongues searching. Saliva and blood mix into your mouth and you swallow hard, desperately trying to keep up with Noahâs movements. He has you distracted and itâs useful. Snaking a hand around your neck, he presses two fingers into the gash on the back of your head. It reopens, skin giving way, and blood coats his fingers.
He doesnât break the kiss as he removes his hand and drags it down your body. He starts at your neck, creating patternsârune like shapesâbefore stopping at the top of your shirt. He yanks it down, traces a finger around your hardened nipples, and leaves the sensitive buds coated red. Your shirt tears as he rips the tucked hem out of your pajama shorts. He wants you naked, bare to him in every way. The remaining pieces of fabric give way and fall in ribbons around you. Your hips lift as if you know whatâs coming next and he pulls your shorts, and your panties, down your thighs, off your ankles, and into some other part of the room.Â
Only then, when the warm air of the room contrasts with Noahâs cold frame against your body, does he pull away from your lips.Â
âIâm going to fuck you,â he states plainly. âAnd when Iâm done, youâre going to be ruined. No one else will ever fucking matter.âÂ
âPlease, master,â you breathe, wiggling impatiently.Â
Noahâs left hand goes to your stomach, palm pressing down firmly to keep you in place. The other trails down your inner thigh tantalizingly slowâthe very epitome of playing with his food.Â
You cry softly, bucking your hips and twisting your body to get closer to the release you crave. Noah growls, tightening his hold on you and pressing you down into the mattress. âStay still.âÂ
The words echo in your head, causing your entire body to freeze, muscles and joints locking into place.Â
He smiles triumphantly, deciding you need a reward for listening so well. A blood soaked fingers teases you, trailing up and down your folds to slowly coax them open. When they part, just how wet you are makes itself evident to him. Noah breathes a slow inhale, really savoring the smell. You are everywhere, so potent and mind numbing that the rest of his composure is gone in seconds.
He grunts, pushing the finger through and coating your insides with your own blood. Arousal mixes with it, painting your inner thighs in a light pink mixture. Itâs not enough for either of you so he pushes two more digits in without any more preparation.Â
Your muscles give way for him, stretching to ensure thereâs enough room for not only his fingers, but whatever else he so generously gives you.Â
The whine you let out is utterly patheticâa tiny little mewl of pleasure.Â
âThis is all it takes?â He asks, eyes flicking back up to trail over your faceâyour furrowed eyebrows, squeezed shut eyes, pouty lips. âThree fingers and youâre already this close?â
He begins moving his fingers, pumping them in and out of you with vigor. All you do is whine again.Â
âDid you know that I can tell exactly what youâre feeling?â Itâs a rhetorical question. He wants to explain it to you anyway. âI can smell that youâre still scared because itâs souring the sweetness of your blood. And I can smell how much you want me, how turned on this makes you. Is that right?â
âYes. And I want your cock,â you answer quickly, words tumbling out of your mouth as you open your eyes to look into his.
âOh I know you do,â he purrs. âBut have you earned it?â
âI have! Please!â
You donât have to beg him. Heâs already giving you what you want, pulling his fingers out of your dripping cunt. He leans up to press them into your mouth, pushing past your lips.
âSuck,â he orders.Â
You listen, wrapping your lips around them and sucking hard, tongue swirling to coat every inch. You can taste yourself in every wayâyour arousal, blood, and saliva all in one.Â
While youâre preoccupied, Noah peels off his clothes.Â
Youâre not completely lucid, still under his thrall as much as he wants you to be, but there are things about vampires that are far too complicated for the human mind to comprehend. What runs through his veins isnât blood. Itâs venom. He was a human man once, knew all about blood rushing to his dick. The simplest explanation for what causes such action now is magic. Itâs the same power that allows him to use the thrall or makes Matt able to shapeshift. He doesnât care to know the specifics. He just knows that this amount of arousal, of obsession, is enough for his cock to strain against his jeans.Â
He reaches behind and yanks his shirt off in one fluid motion. Your eyes drop down to his defined chest. Tattoos start on his neck and cover all the way down to his fingers. Large scars start just under his collarbones and trace all the way down his torso, stopping at his waist. They look like they were once angry but now theyâre faint, white, and rigid. A result of the incident that killed him. When he was turned, the scars and tattoos remained. He doesnât mind them. Next, he finally pulls his fingers out of your mouth to unbutton his jeans and discard them along with his underwear. While he was far less gentle with you, he certainly is not going to tear up his own clothes.Â
He stands over you, body just as bare as your own. Pale skin, darkened eyes, tousled brown hair. Heâs dropdead gorgeous, perfect in every way.Â
Your eyes move down until they land on his cock. Itâs just as ivory white as the rest of him, average in size but quite thick, girthier than any humanâs.Â
Noah tilts his head to the side, taking in how mesmerized you look.Â
âIâm going to give you what you want, sweet thing.âÂ
Itâs a statement, not something he wants you to react to, but you nod enthusiastically. Noah hovers over you again, gripping his length to line it up with your throbbing pussy. When he pushes in, everything clicks into place. You clench around him in reaction as your eyes widen and the rest of the world falls away.Â
This is what he has been waiting for, what every endless second has been counting towards.Â
Youâre the very reason he was turned into a vampire, the very reason he has chosen to stay in this shitty town. And now, with his cock buried to the hilt inside of you, youâre finally his. You have no other purpose. Itâs Noahâs pleasure or nothing else. Heâll kill you, drain you of every last drop in those pretty little veins, before ever letting you amount to something that doesnât pertain to him.Â
âNoah,â you cry out in pleasure, arching your back up to feel as full as possible.Â
His eyes flash with approval as you say his name.Â
âSo you do know my name,â he says in a grunt, thrusting inside of you with each word.Â
Itâs sloppy, not calculated the way every other action of his has been. He worked for it and now that itâs here, he doesnât care. Thereâs no need to pay attention to details when the world is bleeding into his mind, vision tunneling until thereâs nothing but you. You underneath him, covered in your own blood and juices, mind tangled in his grip.Â
âI think I always have,â you respond. âHave we done this before?âÂ
He stills, not realizing how much control he had given you back. Another miscalculation to add to the long list. He really does lose his composure around you.Â
He thinks for a moment, wracking his brain to decide what all to tell you. Hunching forward to deepen his thrust, he reaches for you, wrapping a hand around your throat again. You smile and give him a happy sigh that says I love this. He squeezes but not nearly as rough and angry as last night.Â
âWe have,â he admits. âBut you donât remember.â
Your brows furrow. Youâre in such bliss, body shaking and insides twitching with want. But it doesnât stop you from soaking in his words.Â
âDo you make me forget?â You ask softly.Â
Noah nods, swallows hard. âI do.â
âBut why?â
He lets go of your throat with a sigh, trailing his fingers up your bare neck. He grips your chin and tilts your head, forcing you to look into the room and away from him. Just below your ear, always hidden by your hair, is an old scar in the exact shape of Noahâs teeth, fang punctures obvious and exaggerated by the lingering angry red skin. He leans down to kiss it gently.Â
âBecause itâs much more fun to relive this over and over again.â
With that, your body tenses and Noah sinks his fangs into the scar just like every other time.Â
An: I love this chapter so much. What do you guys think? Any predictions of whatâs to come next? Thank you for all the love and Iâm so happy you guys are still reading this. Donât be shy I love interacting with you guys. đ
Theo stays glued to your side, her small hand swallowed in yours, your grip tighter than you meant it to be. You canât help it. The crowd is a living thing, itâs loud, shifting, unpredictable, and the last place you ever wanted to lose her was in the chaos of a concert. The thought alone makes your stomach drop. You picture Noah shouting her name into a panicked crowd, security scrambling, people screaming, and your pulse spikes hard enough to make you dizzy.
You look down at Theo. Sheâs already craning her neck, trying to see past the wall of bodies. Thatâs enough to send your anxiety over the edge. You scoop her up without a second thought, holding her tight against you.
âMommy, youâre squishing my sign!â she yells directly into your ear. Her voice is swallowed instantly by the music
You weave closer to the front of the line where people are asking for your tickets. Jolly never gave you tickets and what were you going to say? âIâm dating the lead singer?â Sure thatâs believable.
you canât catch your breath, each step vibrating through your legs as the stage lights flare with flames and smoke.
Bryan was supposed to be watching for you both. He didnât know your name, didnât know your face by heart but kept picturing the photo Jolly had showed him. Five year old and her mom⌠canât be too hardâŚhow many five year olds could possibly be at the show?
âMommy, itâs so loud!â Theo whines, burying her face in your shoulder.
You set her down for just a moment and move from the line to not block people from going in. You crouch down so youâre eye-level. âTheo, do not move from this spot.â You make your voice firm, louder than usual, hoping she can hear the seriousness even through the noise.
She nods quickly and clings to your leg. You dig through the bag with frantic fingers until you find her headphones. You fit them over her ears, adjusting them until they sit snugly. She gives you a thumbs-up, her universal sign for Iâm okay and reaches for you again. You tuck her against your side, her sign pressed awkwardly between you both.
Youâre panicking how were you supposed to get to where you needed to be. Just as that thought crosses your mind, a man steps directly into your path. âHey!â he shouts over the music, flashing a quick smile. âIâm Bryan. Here to get you there!â He points toward the stage like itâs the most obvious thing in the world.
Relief hits you so hard your knees nearly buckle. You let out the breath youâve been holding since you stepped into the venue and nod, following him as he cuts through the crowd with practiced ease. He flashes badges, waves off security, and leads you up a narrow set of stairs to the side platform.
Just like Jolly promised, thereâs a small setup waiting, there is two chairs, a tiny table, snacks lined up like a miniature buffet, and a rainbow of kid-friendly drinks. Theoâs eyes go huge. She rushes toward the table, her sign bouncing against her knees, and you swear she forgets the entire world exists for a moment.
You try to focus on the stage, on the band, on the the crowd, but your eyes keep drifting to the lead singer. The way he moves, the way he commands the room, the way his voice seems to reach straight through the noise and land right in your chest.
Theo squints at the stage, her whole face scrunching in concentration. Then she gasps, loud enough to startle you and jumps to her feet, smacking your leg with both hands.
âItâs Noah!â she screams, her voice bursting with pure, unfiltered joy.
And for the first time since you walked into the venue, your fear loosened its grip. Just a little.
You smile down at Theo, brushing your fingers through her hair as she proudly unfolds her sign, wrinkled from being squished against your hip, hoists it into the air like sheâs signaling a rescue helicopter.
The music cuts out for a beat, the sudden quiet almost startling. Noahâs voice rolls over the crowd. âRaise your lighters, phonesâŚwhatever youâve got, if this is your first time seeing Bad Omens!â
Theo immediately thrusts your phone upward like sheâs been waiting her whole life for this moment. In the process, she hits the flashlight button. The beam shoots straight up, wobbling wildly as she wiggles with excitement. Itâs not bright enough to blind anyone, but it is bright enough to catch Noahâs eye through the haze of smog and stage lights.
He squints, confused. You can practically see him thinking, what the hell was that?
âThis next song isââ he starts.
But Jolly has already spotted the rogue flashlight. Bryan gives him a quick signal, some kind of âyep, itâs happeningâ gesture and Jolly leans into his mic.
âHold on,â he says, turning toward Noah with a grin that screams Iâm about to cause problems on purpose. He laughs into the microphone. âWe have a surprise for this one.â
He points directly at Noah.
Noahâs brows knit together. âNo surprises. I donât like that.â He says it like a man who already knows heâs about to be betrayed.
But Jolly is already handing off his guitar and sprinting to the side of the stage where you and Theo are tucked away. Nicholas gives the lighting cue, and suddenly the side platform floods with light, revealing you both like contestants on a game show.
The crowd canât see you from their angle, but Noah can. Oh, he can. His whole face scrunches in this adorable, embarrassed smile he tries, and fails to hide. He covers his mouth with his hand, tilting his head down like heâs trying to disappear into his own shirt. You can practically hear his internal monologue, How did they sneak this past me? Who approved this? Why am I smiling like an idiot?
He laughs, sets the microphone back on the stand, and crouches down. Then he opens his arms wide and waves both hands toward himself, signaling for Theo like heâs calling a puppy. He knows you wonât step out there, but Theo? Theo would walk straight into a volcano if he asked.
She looks up at you, eyes huge, silently begging for permission. You nod.
She bolts toward the front of the stage with speed and determination. Noah barely has time to brace himself before she flings her entire body into his arms, nearly knocking him backward.
He catches her with a soft âoof,â laughing as she wraps her arms around his neck
Noah stands up slowly, still holding Theo like sheâs the most precious thing heâs ever been handed. She settles naturally on his hip, one arm looped around his neck, her little sneakers dangling as he grabs the microphone with his free hand.
âThis is a pleasant surprise,â he says, glancing from the crowd back to Theo like he canât quite believe sheâs real. Behind him, the rest of the band starts drifting back into their places, all of them wearing the same amused expressions.
âThis is my best friend, Theo,â Noah announces proudly. He gestures to her with the mic, and she gives the crowd a tiny wave like sheâs greeting her royal subjects. âHer mom and her came to see us today, and I feel so fucking honored.â
The crowd roars, and Theo beams like she personally caused it.
The lights dim again, shifting into the soft blue wash meant for the next song. You think heâs going to set her down, but he doesnât. He keeps her right there, tucked against him like she belongs.
âTheo,â he says, leaning the mic toward her, âdo you wanna help me sing this next song?â
She nods so hard her headphones wobble. âWhich one!?â she asks, tilting the mic toward her mouth like sheâs done this a thousand times.
âThe one that we sing about Mommy.â
Her eyes go huge , cartoon huge and she claps her hands together with a squeal that makes Noah laugh into the mic. The band starts the intro, and Theo immediately starts bobbing her head, completely off-beat but with full commitment.
Your heart? Itâs not just swelling, itâs doing somersaults, cartwheels, backflips. You swear you can feel it in your throat.
As the song builds, Noah finally sets Theo down, but he doesnât let go of her hand. She stands right beside him, bouncing on her toes.
When the instrumental hits, Noah grabs both her hands and starts jumping in circles with her, matching the rhythm as best he can while Theo just⌠jumps. No rhythm. No pattern. Just pure joy.
They spin in a wobbly little circle. Noah laughing, Theo shrieking with delight and the crowd loses their minds. Phones go up. People cheer.
Noah keeps her steady, guiding her jumps so she doesnât faceplant, and every few seconds he glances over at you with this soft, overwhelmed smile the kind that says I canât believe this is my life.
And honestly? You canât either.
The music cuts out, a sudden hush, and Noah glances at Theo like heâs been handed the worldâs cutest mission. He gives her this soft smile and they start walking back toward you, hand in hand, Theoâs tiny arm swinging.
When they reach you, Noahâs grin is so wide it looks medically concerning. âYou came.â His voice cracks with how hard heâs smiling.
You shrug, trying to play it cool even though your heart is doing cartwheels. âA little birdie told me you were sadâŚâ
He doesnât even let the words settle. In one quick, reckless swoop, he cups your face and kisses you, just long enough for Theo to absolutely lose her mind.
âMommy and Noah sitting in a tree!â she squeals, and instead of spelling it out like a normal child, she just hollers, âKISSING!â
Noah pulls back, forehead still touching yours, and looks down at her with a dramatic gasp. âWeâve been caught.â He wraps his arms around and you melt against him. Youâd been missing being wrapped against his body.
Theo immediately switches to sing-song mode, pointing at him like sheâs announcing breaking news. âNoah is mommyâs boyfriend, Noah is mommyâs boyfriend!â
You shake your head, laughing because thereâs no stopping her now. You rest your hand on Noahâs chest and give him a light push, more of a tap, really, because heâs still smiling like a golden retriever who just got praised for doing the trick.
âGo do your job, doofus.â
He backs away slowly, walking backward toward the stage, still grinning, still watching you like heâs afraid youâll disappear if he blinks. Theo waves both arms, and Noah gives her a little salute before turning back to the band.
And the music kicks back in like none of that just happened but it definitely happened.

Prologue Chapter 1
Fallon sat, Talia nodding along as she spoke through the Zoom call.
"I think a key part in Adam's work is going to be recognizing those cognitive distortions like you said," Fallon explained. "He catches them eventually, but only after they've completely snowballed."
"I agree." Talia jotted down a quick note before looking back up at the screen. "I'd keep reinforcing that. He's starting to challenge them on his own, which is a really good sign."
She clicked to the next page of her notes before pausing.
"I have to say..." A smile spread across her face. "The way you conceptualize cases has changed so much over the last year. You've shown a tremendous amount of growth."
Fallon looked down at her notebook, absentmindedly turning her pen between her fingers.
"...It doesn't really feel like it."
"No?" She laughed softly.
"I still leave sessions wondering if I asked the wrong question or missed something important."
Talia smiled knowingly. "That feeling never completely goes away."
Fallon looked up. "It doesn't?"
"Oh, absolutely not." Talia laughed. "I've been doing this for over twenty years and I still replay sessions in my head on the drive home."
"...Seriously?"
"Every therapist thinks they're secretly fooling everyone for a little while."
Fallon laughed. "I've been waiting for someone to realize they accidentally gave me a license."
"Oh, I've already submitted the paperwork to have it revoked."
Fallon fake groaned.
"I knew it."
Talia grinned before her expression softened.
"The difference is that a year ago, you came into supervision looking for answers." She gestured toward Fallon through the screen. "Now you come in with your own formulation. You're asking better questions. You're trusting your instincts. That's what growing looks like."
Fallon sat quietly for a moment. She hadn't thought about it that way. Maybe she had changed. Maybe it had happened so gradually she hadn't noticed.
"Okayyy..." Talia said, scrolling farther down Fallon's caseload. "Let's see..." Her eyes landed on another name.
"Ah. How's it been going with Noah?"
Fallon's face brightened almost immediately.
"Really well." She found herself smiling.
"He's been engaging in sessions so well. Really receptive to feedback. I can tell he's actually applying things between sessions. It's like... everything we've been working on is finally clicking."
She spent the next few minutes walking Talia through his recent progress, the cognitive restructuring they'd been working on, the way he'd started catching his own thought patterns before she even had to point them out.
"That's great to hear," Talia said, clearly pleased.
"He talked a lot about his music recently."
"Oh?"
"I listened to it."
Talia's eyebrows lifted.
"Since he specifically asked me to," Fallon added quickly.
Talia laughed. "I wasn't judging."
"I know." Fallon smiled sheepishly. "I just wanted to be sure I was making the right decision."
"And?"
Fallon leaned back in her chair.
"He opens up so much in his music. Not that he doesn't in session, but it's... different. More expressive. More poetic." She searched for the right words. "I think songwriting is one of his primary coping skills. It's where he processes everything before he can even put it into words."
Talia nodded.
"I also realized something."
"What?"
"He makes this kind of music for the same reason I listen to this kind of music."
A knowing smile spread across Talia's face.
"I wondered if that might happen."
Fallon's stomach dropped.
"...What?"
"Not the listening." Talia leaned forward slightly. "The connection."
She gestured toward Fallon's tattoos and black band hoodie.
"One of the reasons I gave you his referral is because I knew you spoke his language."
Fallon blinked.
"Music isn't just background noise to you. Most therapists would've politely nodded when he started talking about Motionless in White, anime, horror games, or screaming vocals." A grin tugged at the corner of Talia's mouth. "You knew exactly what he meant."
Fallon thought about that for a long moment. She had. Not because she'd studied it. Because she'd lived it.
"And..." Talia lowered her voice conspiratorially. "Off the record..."
Fallon already knew she wasn't going to like where this was headed.
"...I figured you might think it was kind of cool to work with someone in a famous emo band."
Fallon laughed despite herself.
"You're terrible."
"I know."
The conversation moved on, but Talia's words lingered long after the call ended.
Listening to Bad Omens had given Fallon another lens through which to understand Noah. Therapy had revealed the way he thought; his music revealed the way he felt. Some things simply couldn't be articulated in conversation alone.
She heard pieces of his history woven into songs like Glass Houses, Dethrone, and Enough, Enough Now- the grief, anger, and loneliness that still lingered beneath the surface. Others, like Limits and Burning Out, reflected the same intelligence, determination, and quiet resilience she had come to recognize in session. She'd spent hours working her way through their discography, sometimes sitting in thoughtful silence, other times stopping in genuine disbelief at a guttural scream or composition. Had she discovered Bad Omens under different circumstances, she knew she would've become a fan long before she ever knew the man behind the music.

Session 17
"So, management's trying to keep us visible," Noah explained. "We've been filming acoustic stuff, virtual sets... just trying to put something out there while we can't tour."
Fallon nodded. "How's that been?"
He let out a quiet laugh, though it lacked any real humor.
"I hated every second of it."
"What part?"
"The filming."
He moved a strand of hair behind his ear, eyes dropping away from the camera.
"I don't know... I just felt like I looked like shit the whole time."
Fallon tilted her head slightly but didn't interrupt.
"It's stupid," he continued quickly. "I know it is."
"What makes it feel stupid?"
"Because it's music." He shrugged. "People are supposed to care about the songs, not whether my hair looked weird or if I looked tired."
He paused before letting out another small laugh.
"But... they do."
"The comments?"
"The comments. The screenshots. Promo photos. Music videos." He sighed. "You're kind of the face of the band when you're the frontman. Whether I like it or not, people look at me first."
Silence settled between them.
"I know it's part of the job," he admitted. "I just hate how much headspace it takes up, how much time I spent that day thinking about how I looked like shit."
âWell first of all, Iâm sure you -â For the briefest moment, Fallon forgot herself.
You looked fine.
The thought came so naturally it startled her.
More than fine.
She swallowed the words and gathered herself quickly.
"Iâm sure you...experience a lot of pressure from your audience, and I want to acknowledge that, but also challenge you. What do you think a frontman looks like?" she asked gently.
Noah frowned, considering the question."I... don't know."
"You sounded pretty certain a minute ago." Fallon challenged.
A corner of his mouth lifted. "...Yeah."

After the call Noah sat for a moment, thinking. He noticed the warmth in his chest. Noticed how it was a feeling that he frequently felt following his sessions.
He placed his headphones on his desk and left his room, walking down the stairs to his roommates. Noah dropped onto the cushion beside Jessie without a word and directed his attention to the TV screen.
Jessie looked over.
"...What's going on with you?"
Noah frowned. "What?"
"You're in a suspiciously good mood."
"I'm sitting here."
"Exactly. Voluntarily."
Noah laughed, shaking his head.
âIâm serious, youâve acted more human recently. Youâre less scary to be around.â
Noah punched him gently on the arm, mumbling a quiet âshut up.â
Jolly chimed in. âAlways holed up in his room talking to someone.â
Michael gasped dramatically from across the room. "Wait..." He pointed dramatically at Noah. "Is it a lady?"Â
The room erupted.
Within seconds Michael had decided Noah was secretly dating someone, Jessie wanted a name, and Jolly was already trying to figure out how long he'd been keeping it from them. Even Orie wandered out from the kitchen wearing the kind of smirk that suggested he found Noah's discomfort endlessly entertaining.Â
âYou guys know I stream a lot,â Noah attempted to vindicate his hours spent chatting in his room.
âIn the middle of the day on a Tuesday?â Jolly probed.
Noah parted his lips to answer but fell silent at the sudden stares in his direction.
The room erupted again.
"Oh, it's serious."
"Shut up."
Michael pointed accusingly across the room.
"I want everyone here to remember this moment. Noah Sebastian is voluntarily talking to a woman."
"Consistently," Jessie added.
Noah rolled his eyes, unable to suppress a smile. "I'm going upstairs."
Their protests followed him all the way to his bedroom. He closed the door behind him and leaned back against it, the muffled laughter fading into the background.
A girlfriend.
The thought almost made him laugh. They weren't entirely wrong. There was someone he'd begun looking forward to talking to every week. The realization should have bothered him more than it did. Before the pandemic, his calendar had been full. Flights. Tour buses. Recording sessions. Crowds of strangers every night. There had always been somewhere to be, someone to meet. Now his world had shrunk to the walls of the house. Days blurred together until Tuesday arrived. Tuesday meant therapy. Tuesday meant forty-five minutes where someone asked how he was doing and actually waited for the answer.
Tuesday meant Fallon.
He pushed himself away from the door with a quiet sigh.
He looked forward to therapy. That was all it was.
Nothing more.
It was just unfortunate that the two things were tied together.
________________________
Fallon finished the last of her Tuesday sessions and let out a long sigh, rubbing at her tired eyes before shutting her laptop. Every day had begun to blend into the next. Wake up. Sit in front of a screen. Talk to clients. Eat dinner alone. Repeat. Like most of the world, she missed people. Coffee shops. Concerts. Weekend trips. Anything that wasn't confined to the same four walls.
She carried her plate to the sink before settling onto the couch, pulling a blanket over her legs and opening TikTok.
Dance trend. Swipe. Another Tiger King joke. Swipe. A recipe she'd never make. Swipe.
Then a title caught her attention.
Top 5 Up-and-Coming Metal Bands You Need to Listen To
The title caught her attention.
The creator counted down through a handful of bands she'd already heard of. Code Orange. Trivium. Spiritbox.
Finally,Â
"Number one: Bad Omens."
Footage from one of their music videos filled the screen. Fallon sat forward. It was strange seeing Noah like this.
Hours ago, he'd been sitting in an oversized hoodie, quietly talking through insecurities over a grainy webcam.
Here, he commanded the screen.
His shoulders were squared, every movement deliberate, his voice carrying a confidence that almost felt like it belonged to someone else entirely. The harsh vocals she'd listened to the other night somehow seemed even more powerful paired with the visuals. He looked powerful.
She couldn't reconcile the two versions of him. One agonized over whether his hair looked bad during an acoustic performance. The other stood under blinding stage lights in front of thousands of people without seeming nervous for a second. Her therapist brain caught itself. Or maybe he did. She knew enough by now not to mistake confidence for comfort.
The video ended.
Without thinking, she continued to scroll., and what do you know?
The next clip wasn't another performance.
Noah being Noah for 45 seconds
It was a rapid-fire compilation. Clips jumped between formats; Noah answering questions with dry, deadpan humor in interviews, then cutting to a Twitch stream where he screamed at the top of his lungs as he lost the game. Another clip showed him midâInstagram story, someone from the band filming him backstage while he tilted his head back, having a 5 hour energy poured into his mouth before gagging. Him meowing with cat ear headphones on.
Fallon felt herself smiling.
"...Okay," she laughed quietly. "I didn't expect you to be this funny."
Or maybe she should have. He'd made her laugh nearly every Tuesday for months.
The algorithm worked quickly. Another clip appeared.
This time, he ran around and rolled on the floor, playing with a small tan dog he called Max.
The comments scrolled underneath.
"He's actually so attractive it's unfair."
"CUTIE PIE ANGEL BABY"
"The things I would let him do to me."
"I swear this dude is so ."
Fallon smiled to herself.
They're right.
Another swipe.
A live performance.
Another.
Fan-shot footage from the barricade.
The comments flew by almost too quickly to read.
"How are they not huge yet?"
"This band deserves so much more recognition."
"Noah's vocals are unreal."
"I've never connected to lyrics like this before."
That one made her pause.
She clicked into the comments.
Hundreds of people described how the music had carried them through breakups, depression, anxiety, grief. She found herself smiling.
Good.
He'd never spoken about wanting fame. Recognition, yes. Success, absolutely.
Underneath all of that, what he really wanted was for people to hear what he had to say. And they did. It was amazing, but it gave a lot more weight to his perspective, the things he had shared in session.
A constant stream of strangers feeling entitled to dissect everything about you.
No wonder filming an acoustic set had consumed his thoughts. No wonder he felt pressure every time a camera pointed his way. She locked her phone for a moment, letting it rest against her knee.
It was odd. She'd spent months getting to know Noah Sebastian. Yet tonight felt like she was meeting him for the first time. Not because she was learning something new, but because she was finally seeing all the different versions of him.
The frontman. The songwriter. The sarcastic friend who constantly messed with his bandmates. The quiet client who still questioned whether he was enough.
The phone buzzed softly in her hand.
Without thinking, she unlocked it again.
One more video.
Then another.
By the time she finally glanced at the clock, nearly forty minutes had disappeared.
"...shit," she muttered, locking her phone for good this time. "I guess the algorithm won."
She set it face down on the coffee table before reaching for her PlayStation controller.
As the console powered on, one thought lingered in the back of her mind. The person the internet thought they knew and the person who showed up every Tuesday weren't different people at all. They were simply different pieces of the same one. Much like the fans, she longed to know him more.

Session 19
Fallon and Noah had just barely begun the session when something brushed across the webcam, blocking Fallon out entirely.
"...Excuse me."
A fuzzy striped tail swished directly in front of the camera before disappearing.
Noah laughed. âHe hasnât made an appearance in awhile.â
âHe waits until I'm talking to someone before demanding immediate attention."
Right on cue, a quiet meow echoed through the room. Noah chuckled.
âFor the record, he is HIPAA certified,â Fallon said with a laugh.
Noah grinned. "Oh, good. I was worried about confidentiality."
Fallon shook her head, amused. "He takes his job very seriously."
Her cat gave one final, indignant meow before hopping off the desk.
Fallon watched him disappear before turning her attention back to the screen, the smile lingering on her face.
"Now that my coworker has finished supervising," she teased, "where were we?"
Noah chuckled, settling back into his chair.
They spent the next several minutes returning to the conversation they'd been having before the interruption, revisiting the frustration he'd been carrying over another canceled project and the familiar disappointment that seemed to follow every setback. Fallon listened carefully, occasionally reflecting his thoughts back to him, until the conversation slowed once more.
"When things donât go the way you hoped," she said gently, "what do you usually tell yourself about it?"Â
"Life sucksâŚand then you die."
Fallon froze for half a second, clearly trying to stay composed.
Then she broke.
A startled laugh burst out of her, quickly turning into full-on cackling as she covered her mouth.
"I'mâŚI'm sorry-" she managed between breaths, shaking her head. "I wasn't expecting that."
Noah grinned, clearly pleased with himself. She tried to regain control, but another laugh slipped out.
"That was... incredibly bleak."
"And accurate."
She exhaled, still smiling as she finally settled.
"I'll pretend that wasn't your official coping strategy."
"And I'll pretend you didn't just laugh that hard at it."
âYou really do make me laugh,â she admitted. She meant it. Not as a way to boost her clients confidence or feed his ego, but genuinely.
The admission lingered between them. Fallon wasn't in the habit of saying things like that to clients. Not because it wasn't true, but because most sessions never called for it. Yet with Noah, the words hadn't felt therapeutic or carefully chosen. They had simply... happened.
Fallon began to wrap up the session. She opened her planner to look at the date before she confirmed their next session.
âNext week isâŚOh! August 11th. My birthday,â she said casually, huffing a laugh.
âYouâre not taking the day off? No plans?â Noah asked casually.
âNo not really, not that thereâs much to do right now,â Fallon said, gesturing to the world around her.
He agreed, then left her with a âsee you next weekâ and she exited the call.

Session 20
âSo before we end-â Noah said, seeming a little hesitant. âEverything in these sessions is always...totally confidential, right?â
âYeah?â Fallonâs heart began to race a little.
âI was sent something, to give some feedback.â A slight smirk appeared on his face.
Fallonâs nerves relaxed and she smiled. âOh?â
âItâs a demoâŚfrom a friend. Landon? From The Plot in You.â
Her eyes widened. One of her favorite bands of all time.
âI know itâs your birthday. And I know I canât get you anything, but hypotheticallyâŚ.what if I played it?â
Fallon stuttered. Words did not exist to explain how bad she wanted to hear it, and she wracked her brain for any way to justify it clinically.
âWell I mean, I guess-â
âI am the client. Canât I share whatever I want?â He said with a teasing smirk.
âI guess youâre right.â She said, shaking her head and shrugging.Â
He took off his headphones and pulled out his phone, then began navigating through it, adjusting the volume before holding it up to the mic. Fallonâs lips parted in disbelief as she listened to the song, nodding her head as it came through the speakers. She got to hear the inner workings, the first ever version of it. She was listening to it before any other fan would even know it existed. The song ended and Noah fit his headphones back over his ears.
âFeedback? Any suggestions?â Noah asked, raising a brow and laughing at the stunned look on Fallonâs face.
âI have no words. I canât believe I just heard that,â she sat for a moment shaking her head, âI mean I wish the breakdown was a little longer?â
âI agree,â Noah said. He clicked through his phone and typed for a moment before hitting send. âNoted.â
Fallon was still speechless. Sheâd forever have a tiny grain of involvement in the song's making. In its history. Noah had given that to her.
âWow.â
âI knew youâd think it was cool,â Noah said, a softness to his voice, âHappy Birthday.â
âThank you. Really Noah, that meant a lot.â Fallon said, sincerely.
Fallon left the call and leaned back in her chair, staring at the ceiling. Somewhere across Los Angeles, Noah was probably already moving on with his evening.
Recording.
Ordering dinner.
Talking to the guys.
Completely unaware that a 2 minute song demo had somehow become the nicest birthday gift she'd received in years.
She sat at her laptop writing her progress note for Noahâs session, a soft smile still on her lips. She completed the content for the work they had done, and her mind drifted to the last few minutes of the call. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard as she thought about how to document it, how to make the exchange seem therapeutic. Nothing came to mind, so she left it out. That moment was just for her. For them.

âIâm not going. And you canât fucking make me.â I laid against the headboard of the bed, legs crossed over each other and arms folded over my chest.
After the concert, and Blairâs NC-17 rated incident with Nick Folio, she had spent some time talking with him in the green room while I impatiently waited outside to leave. There was no sum of money that would convince me to go near Noah, after I had sufficiently humiliated myself and offended him. I had no desire to come face-to-face with him ever again.
âThatâs crazy, get up and get your clothes on.â Blair nonchalantly tossed at me as she toweled off her hair, electing to take a quick shower before she headed to the bar where she was meeting Folio.
I sneered at her, baring my teeth. âNo.â
After we made it back to the room, I had promptly stripped, burned all shame off of me under a scalding shower, and put my black sweats and a gray tye-dyed crop top on. The only plan I had was to curl up in bed, doom-scroll on my phone, and pretend I didnât exist.
âTheo, he wants you to come.â She said around a chuckle as she reapplied her winged liner.
My glasses sat low on my nose, my face now completely bare of makeup. âSo he can fucking yell at me? That sounds like the opposite of a good time. No, thanks.â
âOr, he wants to give you a chance to explain yourself?â She chanced, and I cocked a brow at her suspiciously.
âHe told you that?â
She pursed her lips. âI meanâŚâ
Throwing my hands up, I shoved off the bed. âWhat did he say?â
Her teeth grit nervously. âHe didnât exactly ask if you were going,â She twirled her eyeliner in her fingers. âHe kind of demanded it.â
My eyes bulged, the events of the evening replaying in my mind.
His face was curled in a scowl as he shouted something to himself. I had guessed he was speaking into the microphone of the bud in his ear, and from where I stood, I could only hear that he was looking for Folio.
Uh-oh.
He leaned against the railing of the stairs, looking absolutely enraged. My feet slowly, cautiously, carried me over to where he stood. He didnât notice me until I was stood right in front of him.
âHi.â I squeaked out, and he just raised a brow at me. âAre you okay?â
Noahâs lips curled up in annoyance. âIâm fine.â
He snapped the words out with a harsh bite, and my stomach rolled. It was obvious he wasnât fine, and that really had nothing to do with me. So, why throw attitude at me?
Without the ability to stop myself, I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at him. âOh, are you?â
He scowled at me, standing at full height. The nerve I held was going to fall off, so I opened my mouth and what tumbled out startled meâŚ
âThen what the fuck is wrong with your face?â
As it came out, my face mirrored his; stunned and horrified.
Did I actually just fucking say that to Noah fucking Sebastian?!
Abort. Abort. Abort.
âThe fuck did you just say?â He took a slow step toward me, his cheeks now visibly turning red. I backed up, only making it several steps before I felt the wall behind me.
MAYDAY.
âI,â My voice cracked. âIâm so sorry. I donât know why-â
His arm shot up above me, palm slamming against the wall hard enough that I felt it vibrate my spine. âYou want to try that again?â
His words were so smooth, so deadly.
âI have no idea why I said that.â I stammered, shaking my head. âIâm really bad with this kind of thing.â
His head leaned down to hear my voice, small and weak. âAnd that makes it okay?â
My bottom lip trembled, all confidence I had fading. âN-No. Of course not. I just-â
âWaitinâ on you!â Folioâs voice, like a siren amongst a fog, tore our attention to where he had returned, bounding up to the stairs.
Noahâs eyes turned to land back on me, and thatâs when I caught sight of Blair staring at us from my peripheral.
âStay here. Weâll finish this after.â
âTheo, I think heâs probably over it. He was just pissed because Folio wasâŚoccupied,â She smiled to herself. âAnd now that the show finished strong, Iâm sure heâs fine!â
I chewed my lip. âYou really think so?â
âHundred percent. Iâd be willing to bet, if anything, he just wants to talk to you.â Blair smiled warm at me, and I could feel myself readying to cave.
âIâm already in my jammies. And I have no makeup on!â
Smirking, she looked me up and down. âJust go like that. I looked into the bar weâre going to and itâs super low key. Total hole in the wall. Iâm sure itâs no big deal at all.â
âLike this?! You want me to face Noah âWeâll Talk About This Afterâ Sebastian looking like a fucking troll?!â My mouth hung open in horror.
Rolling her eyes, she tossed my purse at me. âYou donât look like a fucking troll, so shut the fuck up.â
Pouting with wide, sad eyes, I marched toward the door.
âAnd like I said, Iâm sure heâs over it.â
-
Noah was, in fact, not fucking over it.
I sat on the barstool, the straw of my vodka Redbull squeezed between my lips and eyes cast down at the floor. Even from where I sat, minding my own damn business, I could feel his eyes on my face across the pool table. He was leaned against the wall, beer casually held between his fingers, and eyeing me.
He wore a ball cap now, Chiodos t-shirt, and plain blue jeans. He had clearly cleaned up after the show, as I could smell the cologne he was wearing from where I cowered.
Blair had scampered off with Folio shortly after we arrived, headed for the furthest corner of the bar. Glances over at her caught them talking, laughing, a lot of flirtatious arm touches and grinning faces.
Good for fucking her.
The voice in my head was mocking, doing nothing to quell the uneasiness in my gut.
âTheo?â Nicholas called my name, and my eyes shot up to where he was staring at me, pool cue in his hand as he waited for Jolly to take his shot.
I thanked whatever God existed that they had decided to come as well.
âHmm?â I responded, mouth still full of liquor.
He shook his head, chuckling. âI just asked if you wanted next game?â
Waving him off, I swallowed the corrosive drink. âNo, no thank you. Iâm cool.â I smiled at him, trying to convey anything but the anxiety vibrating my insides.
âSo, Blair said you guys are from Vegas?â Jolly looked to me, coming to stand closer to me.
His hair was pulled up halfway, and his tired eyes focused on me.
I nodded. âYeah. Weâre headed back home tomorrow.â
Nicholas spoke up from where he was bent over the table to shoot. âWhatâs that like? Living in Vegas?â
Momentarily, I was distracted by the guys, light conversation keeping my mind from the brooding giant on the other side of the table. We talked about living in Las Vegas versus Los Angeles, and how it wasnât that different. We talked a bit about their last few shows, and how excited they were.
That was when Noah finally spoke.
âYeah, well hopefully Folio wonât be so distracted next time.â His eyes darted to where Blair had Nickâs full, undivided attention. âMaybe the show will go smoothly.â
My throat went dry.
Nicholas scoffed. âPlease. How often does Nick actually meet someone he wants to talk to? Leave him alone.â He waved off Noah dismissively, which apparently pissed him off further.
âYou in on this, Noah?â Jolly asked, but he shook his head, eyes deadlocked on me.
He didnât grace his friend with a response, instead speaking directly to me.
âSo, you plan to apologize?â
Both Nicholas and Jollyâs faces lifted, eyes bouncing between the two of us before settling on each other.
âAnother beer?â Nicholas asked Jolly, who pursed his lips.
âYup.â He re-racked his cue, and they both padded over to the bar.
Great.
I sighed hard, accepting there was no way out of this now. âNoah,â I started, standing and setting my drink down. âI canât tell you how sorry I am. I really did not mean to insult you. Iâm just incapable of handling awkward meetings like that.â
He slowly rounded the table, coming to stand a few feet from me.
âYeah, you said that.â He took a slow pull from his beer, and I felt a chill run up my spine.
Clearing my throat, I tried to regain some semblance of composure. âOkay, well I meant it. I donât know what else to say.â
He nodded, sucking his teeth. âSo,â He smirked. âWhy are you like that?â He threw out casually.
I narrowed my eyes. âI donât really know. Just always have been.â
âSeems like itâd get you in a lot of trouble.â The expression on his face was smug. It was slowly irritating me.
âYeah, well,â I took another drink. âIâm a big girl, I can handle myself.â
At that, he leaned back and dramatically sized me up with his eyes. âYouâre, what, five feet tall? I donât see you âhandling yourselfâ very well.â
âExcuse me?â I deadpanned. He just shrugged. âIâm five-foot-one, and more than capable of taking care of myself.â
He laughed. He actually fucking laughed.
âBy the way youâve been hiding over here all night, Iâm just not convinced.â
My face burned, embarrassment and rage scorching my arteries. âWell, maybe I didnât want to deal with you trying to intimidate me the way you did at the concert.â I bit back.
âTry?â He snorted. âYou were cowering.â
My eyebrows shot up, and I took a step backwards. âYeah, well I guess I was caught off guard by how much of a creep you were being.â
âCreep?â His head jolted back.
Bypassing the straw, I downed the rest of my drink, setting the glass hard on the counter behind me. âYeah. A creep.â
âA lot of women would kill to have me back them against a wall, you know that?â Noahâs chest was puffed out, defensive, and I could tell I got under his skin with my comment.
Scrunching my nose in disgust, I let my eyes scan up and down his body. âYeah, and I thought I was one of them.â
Slipping my purse back over my shoulder, I gripped the strap hard and huffed.
âWell, as much fun as this was, I think Iâve had enough for one day.â Without another glance, I turned and tossed at him, âEnjoy your night.â
Padding to the end of the bar, I approached Blair, who was clearly enjoying herself. She was smiling so wide I could see all thirty-two of her perfect teeth.
âBabe?â I tapped her arm, and her face turned to me, the grin still lingering. Nickâs eyes caught me as well. âIâm going to get out of here.â
Her face fell, body now turning entirely toward me. âWhat? What do you mean?â
âYeah, Iâm going to grab an Uber and head back to the hotel. Iâll see you later.â
Her legs began moving to stand off of the stool. âWhat happened? Weâve only been here like half an hour?â
Nodding, I forced a smile. âAnd Iâm exhausted. I just want to get some sleep.â
I could see her expression fall, her hand gripping tighter where her fingers were laced with Folioâs.
âOkay, letâs go.â She released his hand to reach for her bag.
âNo.â I interrupted her, giving a half-smile. âYou stay. Iâll be okay. Weâre not far from the hotel.â
She shook her head. âNo way am I letting you go alone.â Her teeth gnawed her bottom lip. âYou sure you canât stay a little longer?â Her voice had dropped low so only I could hear it.
âMmm,â I pretended to consider it. âPass. If I spend one more minute with him, Iâm going to end up punching him in his stupidly perfect face.â
Blairâs face was stunned. âSeriously? That bad?â
âHeâs awful, Blair.â I shook my head to rid the thoughts. âThe worst kind.â
Shrugging, I could see the hope flickering in her eyes.
âIâll be fine. Iâll get a car and you can see my location.â
"You track each other's locations?" Nick asked, finishing his beer.
I smiled, giving him sufficient warning. "At all times."
After a quick goodbye to Blair and Nick, I stood outside under the covered sidewalk, waiting on a driver to accept my ride. The lightest rain was beginning to come down, so I stayed out of the mist, begging the app to tell me someone was on the way.
"What are you doing?"
My throat clenched when I heard the voice behind me. Spinning around, I had to crane my neck back to look him in the face. The rage flared behind my eyes.
"Leaving." I turned away from him, saying a silent prayer that a driver was taking my ride at this very moment.
I heard a snicker behind me. "You know that standing here isn't the same as leaving, right?"
My eyes rolled. "I'm aware."
"Then why aren't you leaving?"
"Because I'm not going to leave Blair stranded, so I'm waiting on an Uber." I glanced at him, now stood to my side, a cigarette between two of his fingers. "You can go back inside now."
"Oh, you're dismissing me?" He snorted, dropping the half-burnt smoke on the ground and stomping it. "Let me drive you."
I laughed at that. "I'm so good on that." My eyes stayed fixed on the screen.
"Why not?"
He's fucking joking, right?
"Because, I don't want you to."
He slid over in front of me until I had no choice but to look up at him. "Again, I ask, why not?"
"Be so fucking for real right now, Noah." I emphasized my words with another eye roll.
The corner of his mouth lifted, eyes fixed on me. "Get your feelings hurt, Theo?"
I willingly ignored the pulling sensation I felt in my stomach when my name rolled off of his tongue.
"I'd just rather not be picked on the entire way back to the hotel. Plus, you've been drinking."
"I had one beer." He spoke as if it were obvious. "I'm sober."
"Hmph." Was all I gave him.
He pursed his lips. "Don't you trust me?"
I gawked at him. "Not even a little."
"You think I'd kill you in a car crash just because you pissed me off?" There was a playfulness in his tone that was grating my nerves.
"I don't know, Noah. I don't even know you."
Nodding, he almost looked as if he was going to accept this. That is, until his fingers swiped my phone right out of my hands.
"Hey!" I reached for it, but, like a fucking child, he reached his arm straight up in the air, and out of my reach.
I nearly jumped for it before I realized that I was not a child. "Give it back, Noah." My tone was deadly.
"Come get it." He said as he walked backwards, pulling a set of keys from his pocket and hitting the fob.
A black SUV parked behind him chirped, and I booked for him. He slipped into the driver's seat and slammed the door before I could catch him, the locks clicking. I audibly growled, slapping the window.
"Noah!" Pounding my fist against the door, the window rolled down enough that I only saw his deep brown eyes. "Give me my fucking phone!"
"Get in and I will."
Fifteen minutes later, and I was sitting, arms crossed and glaring out the windshield, in the passenger's seat of the vehicle. Noah had the music up, blaring Sleep Token, and singing loudly. I wanted to hate it. I wanted his voice to be obnoxious and off-key. But he was Noah 'Get In And I Will' Sebastian. Of-fucking-course, it was a private concert that millions of people would kill to witness.
However, he didn't have to know that I was enjoying it.
A shred of relief flooded through me when I saw the sign for the Hilton come into view. Two minutes and this nightmare was over. I clutched my purse in my lap, primed for a quick getaway, until...
"Uh, Noah?" I hollered over Alkaline. When he didn't look, I cursed and reached to turn the music down. "You passed my hotel."
His eyes glanced at me from where he sat, a mischievous smile on his lips. "I know."
"You going to turn around or...?" My heart began to race, but not because I was angry. Being stuck in a car with a man I just met, no matter who he was, late at night in an unfamiliar city, was horrifying.
"What kind of a gentleman would I be if I didn't make sure you ate before I took you home?" He tried sounding sincere, but my jaw fell open.
"I'm not hungry." I argued.
He licked his lips. "Well, I am. We're going to Denny's."
"I hate Denny's."
"Who the fuck hates Denny's?"
The waiter sat us quickly, a two-person booth in the back as Noah had specifically requested. I groaned, flopping down into my seat.
"What can I get you guys to drink?" The short, middle-aged man asked with his pad and pen ready.
I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Coffee, please."
"Two." Noah added, opening his menu as if he hadn't just kidnapped me. "I'm thinking about a Grand Slam. How about you?"
My teeth were pressed together so hard, my jaw ached. "I'm thinking about breaking the syrup dispenser over your head."
This made him laugh, and for the first time since we met, it didn't sound laced with some form of malice. "Violence is never the answer, Theo."
I left my menu untouched, adding sugar and cream to my coffee as soon as it came.
"Ready to order?"
Noah put his menu down. "Grand slam with scrambled eggs, toast instead of pancakes, and an extra side of bacon, please." He handed the man his menu.
The waiter, whose nametag read 'Gerardo', turned his attention to me, but I just shook my head.
"Nothing for me, thank you." He lifted a brow.
"You sure? Need more time?"
"You should eat, Theo. You had a drink at the bar." Noah's voice was suggestive rather than demanding, and I felt my insides rumble.
Shrugging, I closed my eyes. I was hungry.
"A BLT on wheat, side of fries?" I handed him my menu as well.
"Not a problem." Gerardo left us, and I leaned back in my seat, checking my phone. I had missed Blair's texts, and I cringed.
Blair: Where the FUCK you going?!
Blair: Bitch you aren't at the hotel?! Raccoon if you're alive.
Blair: I swear for gawd if you don't respond in the next five minutes, Folio and I are on our way to beat someone's fucking ass.
The last one came in four minutes ago.
Theo: Don't! I'm fine! I'm at Denny's.
Blair: I see that. Why are you at Denny's alone?
My eyes glanced up at Noah, who was building a tower with the empty sugar packets.
Theo: Not alone.
Theo: Noah's with me.
I set my phone on the table, noticing her texts coming through of just mind-blown emojis, heart-eye emojis, and eggplant emojis.
I flipped my phone over.
"Checking in on you?" He asked, eyes still fixed on his project.
Pulling my fingers through my hair, I nodded. "Yeah. I made sure to let her know that you kidnapped me and to call the police."
He smiled. "Sick. Never been arrested in Arizona."
I groaned. "Why did you insist on kidnapping me, anyway?"
"Why not?" He knocked his small house down, looking back up at me. "Seemed like fun."
Pulling off my glasses, I pressed my fingers into my eyes. "For you, maybe. I'm so fucking tired."
"Same." He yawned, and when he shook his head to finish it out, I noticed the way his hair had grown so much longer than the last time I saw them live.
He pulled his hat off, ruffling his hair and stretched his arms over his head. I could see the way his arms flexed, making it difficult not to admire. He was an asshole, no contest, but he was still so fucking beautiful.
"Theo?" I was snapped from my thoughts, looking back to his eyes. "You're staring."
I shook my own head, casting my eyes down. "I'm sorry."
To my fortune, Gerardo returned with our plates, and we both began eating. We must have been equally as hungry, because we didn't speak for a solid ten minutes while I downed half of my sandwich, and he nearly finished his entire plate.
Once I had switched to the fries, I slowed down to watch him as he polished off his extra side of bacon. I took a small bite of the pickle spear on my plate.
"So," He said, swallowing his last bite and wiping a napkin over his lips. "What should we talk about?"
I groaned. "We should talk about getting the check, paying it, and getting me back to my hotel."
"Boring. What's your favorite color?" He asked nonchalantly, throwing an arm over the back of the booth.
"Jesus Christ." I snarled, pulling out my wallet and grabbing thirty dollars in cash and dropping it on the table. "This should cover mine."
I stood, sliding from the behind the table and moved to brush past him, but my wrist was caught in a harsh grip, halting me.
"Where are you going?" He didn't even sound gruff this time, but genuinely curious.
I stared down at where he looked at me. "I'm walking back to the hotel. I'm exhausted and really over being a kidnapping victim."
Pulling my arm, I managed to get out of his grasp, and continued toward the door. I heard a shuffling behind me, and footsteps rapidly approaching. I pushed the door open and stepped out into the cool night air, taking in a deep breath. Without a second thought, I began for the sidewalk.
Again, a hand caught me, this time on the shoulder. "Theo! You cannot walk back to your hotel. It's almost three in the morning."
Completely and entirely over this entire fucking night, I spun, slapping his arm off of me. "Oh my God, Noah! Just let me fucking go! What is your fucking problem?!"
My voice came out much higher than I intended, and in the silence of the evening around us, my voice carried around the parking lot.
"Hey, relax," He started, but had taken a defensive step backward.
"Don't tell me to relax! This has easily been the worst night of my life, and you insist that it continue! I want to sleep! I want to forget this ever happened!" I seethed at him.
"Why?" His head cocked to the side, and had I not gotten a taste of who he was throughout this horrific evening, I would've thought he was just curious.
Shaking my head in disbelief, I laughed sardonically. "Why?!" I stepped forward, a warning of the explosion he was toeing. "You can't figure one reason?"
He stayed silent.
"I just wanted to go to a God damn concert! Get some merch! See my favorite band! That's all I signed up for! And where did that get me?!"
Still nothing from Noah.
"Stranded outside a fucking diner at 3AM, face-to-face with my fucking idol, in my fucking pajamas, no makeup, hair fucked, arguing with a guy who I've dreamed of meeting for years!"
I exhaled a heavy breath. "That's why!" I felt the tears forming behind my eyes, the overwhelming emotions washing over me.
Defeated, I huffed down onto the curb, pulling my knees to my chest, and rested my chin on my arms. I felt him sit next to me, but I didn't look at him.
"Hey," An elbow bumped my arm, and I just lolled my head to the side to stare at him. What did it matter now? "Feel better?"
As sick as it sounds, I did. I had been holding onto a lot of emotion for a while, and tonight evidently was my breaking point. Noah took the brunt of it, but he deserved it, to be fair. I nodded.
A soft, sweet smile graced his lips, and I felt a buzz begin in my brain. He hadn't looked at me that way one time since I met him. All disdain or mockery vanished from his face.
"Good. I'm glad."
"Why are you so mean?" I asked, my voice small.
He chuckled, mimicking my posture. "I haven't been that mean. You're really wound up."
I shut my eyes, a frustrated sigh exhaling from my lips. He laughed again.
"What's up with the obsession with what you're wearing? Or the makeup thing?" He was still looking at me when I opened my eyes.
"I look like a troll." I mumbled against my arm.
His brow furrowed. "Why would you think that?"
"Because it's true? I look like a homeless person."
The laugh he gave off now was shaking his entire chest, his head falling back. "Jesus, Theo." He let it trail off. "Do you realize that I've been poking a stick at you all night for a reason?"
"Yeah, cause you're a dick."
Noah bumped me again. "Not a dick. Just a guy," His hand came up to tuck a stray piece of my dark hair behind my ear. "Who thinks you're really fucking cute when you're all flustered."
My eyes popped open. "What?"
"Yeah, your nose gets all scrunched up, your eyes sparkle when you're pissed off, and your neck flushes really red." His finger trailed from my hair down the side of my neck, and I worked to keep my heart rate steady.
"You've been fucking with me," I worked it through in my brain. "Because you like me?"
His grin now was all teeth. "I mean, I thought you'd have figured it out an hour or so ago."
My mouth fell open, a shocked breath falling out. "What the fuck, Noah?"
"See," He pointed a finger at me. "Like that!"
I let my face fall, realizing I was making the exact expression he referred to. "Oh my God."
Without anything else to do, every wave of feeling now rolling off of me like waves, I let out a hard, uncontrollable cackle. It took over, tears forming in my eyes as I leaned over, laughing so hard my ribs began to ache. Noah joined me, leaning a shoulder against me.
"See," He said once we managed to recover from our fit. "This is the part where you realize I'm actually pretty cute too."
I rolled my eyes, wiping the tears from my cheeks. "Oh yeah?"
"Mhm. And if you really want to show your appreciation," He moved closer, leaning in until his face was less than six inches from mine. My breathing halted, and my eyes traveled from his lips up to his eyes. "You would kiss me. Just as a thank you for giving you such a good night."
The conceit in his words snapped me from the moment I felt building, and I scoffed hard.
"Christ, Noah." I giggled again, rocking back away from him. "You're so dumb."
Tightening his lips, he gave me a smile and let his palm run up my back. "Come on, gorgeous." His hand trailed up to the back of my neck and gave it a light squeeze. "Let's get you to bed."
"You don't have to walk me inside." My feet were moving slow, fingers clutching the strap of my bag and feet kicking at the sidewalk.
"I'm at least going to make sure you get in the building okay. I am a gentleman, after all." Noah puffed his chest in fake bravado, and an easy, simple laugh came out of me.
The air between us had shifted since we left the diner. Jabs back and forth felt more like flirtations that I had missed earlier because of my predisposed notions of him. I mentally kicked myself for not picking it up sooner, and missing out on what could've been a potentially wonderful night with Noah 'I'm Actually Pretty Cute Too' Sebastian.
The slow pace we both kept was proof that he felt the same way. His elbow would brush against my arm here and there, and I felt the warmth growing in my chest with each touch.
"I'm sorry for being such a bitch all night, Noah." I finally conceded, huffing a breath.
He shook his head. "None of that. No more apologies. You were authentic. That's why I kept messing with you. I like that about you."
I couldn't hide the way my lips pulled up. "You do?"
He stopped, now only ten feet from the door I needed to swipe into. "Yeah. Probably more than I should." He palmed the back of his neck.
For the first time since I met him, I saw a shine of vulnerability, and my insides began melting at the sight.
"Well," I mused. "Despite all of your bullshit, I like you, too."
His brown eyes, equally as dark as my own, lit up in a way that had what was left of my resolve on the floor.
"I, uh," He glanced at the door, "Should let you get inside. Get some sleep."
Nodding, I fumbled with the plastic key card in my hand. "You should too. You leave in a few hours for Oakland, right?"
"Yup." He responded, popping the 'p'.
There it was again, that charge in the air. This time, he was quiet, eyes searching through mine, face leaning dangerously close to mine. Reaching up slowly on my toes to close the large gap between our height, I let my eyes fall closed. One of his hands slipped over the exposed skin on my waist, and I pushed into the touch.
"Unless, of course, you want to invite me in for a little more fun?"
My eyes snapped open, and his face held that smug, expectant expression. He waggled his eyebrows, biting his lower lip. He looked like a total fucking imbecile.
"Oh my God!" I shook my head, the frustration flooding in again at the second ruined moment. "Do you know how to not be a douche?! I was actually going to kiss you that time, for the record."
I turned, pulling out of his hand and took three steps toward the door. I could hear him laughing behind me.
A grip pulled me backward by the wrist, spinning me around, and before I could retort back at him, I was caught by strong hands on my hips, and soft lips against mine.
Instinctively, my eyes closed and I felt him breathe into me. The kiss wasn't eager or rushed. It was calm, comfortable, and relaxed. His fingers flexed against my ribs, and I inhaled the scent of him. His tongue pressed into my mouth carefully, gently exploring. My hands reached up to grip the sides of his neck, pulling him down further so I could put more effort into the kiss.
An arm wrapped around my back, pulling me into him as our mouths molded together. A satisfied hum came from his throat. Noah pulled back, eyes half-lidded and a large grin pulling on his now swollen lips.
"Sorry," He breathed. "I couldn't help myself. But I couldn't let you leave without doing that."
"Ah hell yeah!"
A loud voice that I immediately recognized as Blair's hollered from behind us. I turned around slowly, seeing her stood next to Nick, perched against the hood of her car.
Sheepishly, I turned back around and buried my face in Noah's chest.
"Worst night ever." I grumbled, and I felt him laugh, arms still locked around me.

Prologue
It was 9am on a Monday, the typical time Fallon had her weekly supervision meetings with Talia. She had spent the last hour going through her recent session notes and formulating questions, noting to discuss the new referral she saw in her inbox. She unplugged her laptop, grabbed her process journal, and headed down the hall to her office. Talia greeted her with a smile, turning the sign on the door to In Session and clicking it shut behind them.
Talia plopped down on the couch across from Fallon.
âSo. Notable sessions this week?â
âIâm seeing a lot of progress with Melanie. Iâve been incorporating DBT skills to help her with managing the school avoidance and sheâs gone the full week for 3 weeks in a row now.â Fallon explained, her face lit with pride.
âDistress tolerance is powerful stuffâ Talia concurred.
The conversation continued in much the same way, moving from client to client as they reviewed treatment plans, celebrated small victories, and worked through the inevitable setbacks. Talia offered suggestions where needed, challenged Fallon to consider different approaches when she found herself feeling stuck, and reminded her, as she often did, to be mindful of the weight she carried home with her. By the time they reached the end of Fallon's caseload, the folder in front of Talia was nearly closed.Â
âOh! Yeah, one more thing. I saw in my email the new client that you referred to me?â Fallon remembered.
âYes! I think I know which one youâre talking about. Noah S. Davis?â
âYup thatâs him,â Fallon confirmed, checking the form on her laptop.
âI know you have a pretty full caseload right now, but when Dr. Brooks and I were thinking of who to assign him to, something about his case immediately brought you to mind. Plus I think itâs a good one for you to take on from a professional standpoint based on the form.â Talia explained.
Fallon nodded, contemplating. She knew Talia believed in her abilities, but she was already stretched pretty thin, and her caseload typically consisted of lower profile clients. Still, something about the referral caught her attention. Convincing herself she could manage it with the right support, she accepted the assignment and returned to her office to begin reviewing his intake paperwork.
Over the next several days, the office buzzed with conversations that had little to do with therapy. Schools began closing, appointments were canceled or rescheduled, and uncertainty seeped into nearly every session. What started as discussions about hand sanitizer and social distancing quickly became agency-wide meetings, contingency plans, and hastily learned telehealth platforms. Within a week, the hallways that had once been filled with clients and clinicians sat empty. Fallon continued her sessions at home, her chubby tabby cat keeping her company on her lap.

An email notification from his phone pulled Noahâs attention away from the game on the computer screen. His heart dropped. Maybe it was management saying they rescheduled the tour, maybe they were able to cut a deal with the merch company. He couldnât help but cling to that hope. He sipped a glass of wine as he typed the passcode in on his phone.
An email from West Grove Counseling Center.
Hi Noah,
My name is Fallon Villa, and I'm a therapist with West Grove Counseling Center. I was recently assigned your referral and wanted to reach out to introduce myself and schedule your initial appointment.
Due to recent changes related to COVID-19, our office has temporarily transitioned all sessions to a secure telehealth platform. While we had originally planned to conduct new client intakes in person, we'll be meeting virtually until it is safe to resume office visits.
If you're still interested in beginning counseling, I'd be happy to schedule a 60-minute intake session at a time that's convenient for you. I currently have availability on:
Tuesday, March 31 at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m.
If none of these times work for your schedule, please let me know what days and times generally work best for you, and I'll do my best to accommodate.
Once we confirm an appointment, I'll send you the secure video link along with a few forms to complete beforehand.
I look forward to meeting you!
Best,
Fallon Villa, MA
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
His heart dropped. He wasnât sure if it was from disappointment or nerves. He hadnât been to therapy in years, but he recognized that things were getting bad again. It was for the best. Noah closed out of his game of Fall Guys and opened the email on his monitor. He clicked the link to the website and spent a moment clicking around until he found a staff directory.
Fallon Villa. He clicked on her name.
Her professional headshot filled the screen beside a short bio. Jet black hair cascaded down her shoulders with streaks of purple and blue peeking through. Hints of tattoos peaked out of the black blouse she wore in the headshot. A ring sparkled on one side of her nose. Noah felt a certain warmth from her photo, she looked easy to talk to, like she would understand.
He let out a deep sigh and navigated back to the other tab, clicking reply on the email. Tuesday, March 31st heâd go back to therapy.

She reviewed all of the relevant information before clicking onto Zoom to start the session. She entered the room and took a calming breath, waiting for Noah to answer the call.
Session 1
Noah entered the call after a few moments. Fallon took in his appearance. He had long brown hair that rested just past his shoulders, and soft almond shaped eyes to match. Tattoos kissed his jawline and disappeared under the collar of his hoodie. He adjusted his headphones with ink covered hands. LED lights casted a blue glow around the room from behind a bedframe. Tour posters and tattoo flash sheets covered the wall behind him. Fallon took note. She often believed you could learn a lot about someone from their space.
She started the session with a brief introduction, giving her spiel of informed consent and confidentiality. Then, it was time for their work to begin.
She spent the next several minutes guiding Noah through the routine questions that accompanied every intake; clarifying pieces of his history, reviewing his support system, and filling in the gaps left on his paperwork. He answered politely, if somewhat reserved, speaking matter-of-factly about experiences that most people would struggle to summarize so casually. Losing both of his parents, navigating much of his adolescence on his own, moving across the country to pursue music before most people his age had figured out what they wanted to do with their lives. Fallon made a few notes, careful not to interrupt more than necessary.
When the last of the intake process was behind them, she closed the form on her screen and offered him a small smile.
"First of all," she began gently, "I just want to acknowledge that you've had to navigate a lot of difficult circumstances long before everything happened with the pandemic. Going through your history, it sounds like you've spent a long time adapting and figuring things out on your own."
Noah gave a small shrug.
"I guess."
"So, with all of that in mind," Fallon continued, "what was it about these last few weeks that made you decide now was the right time to reach out?"
Noah looked away from the camera for a moment, his fingers absently tugged on the strings of his hoodie.
"I've always kind of managed," he admitted quietly. "No matter what happened, I could usually throw myself into music and keep moving." He let out a humorless laugh, "And then all of a sudden... there wasn't anywhere to move."
Fallon nodded, allowing the silence to work for a moment.
âThere was always so much noise, traveling and playing shows, doing press, all of it. Now that Iâm home, now that itâs all gone, thereâs still a lot of noise. JustâŚnot the good kind.â
Fallon nodded thoughtfully. "One thing that stood out to me while weâve been talking is that every challenge you've described was immediately followed by what you did next. You lost your parents, so you learned to take care of yourself. You wanted to pursue music, so you moved across the country. Every obstacle seems to have been met with another goal."
He looked away from the camera for a moment.
"I never really thought about it like that."
"It sounds like you've spent a long time surviving by continuing to move forward, would that be accurate to say?"
There was a long pause before Noah spoke again.
"Yeah... I guess I have."
Fallon leaned back slightly in her chair. "So let's explore what changed. You've overcome a lot in your life. What was it about these last few weeks that made you decide that you need a different approach?"
Noah exhaled slowly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I've always had something to work toward," he admitted. "Even when things sucked, I could throw myself into writing or touring or whatever was next. There was always another city, another show, another goal."
His eyes drifted off-screen for a moment.
"And without it...there's not much else."
The room fell quiet.
"I keep waking up feeling like I'm supposed to be somewhere," he continued. "Like I've forgotten something important. But there's nowhere to go. Nothing to work on. I don't..." He let out a frustrated laugh. "I don't really know who I am when I'm not doing that."
Fallon let the silence settle before responding.
"It makes sense that everything feels so overwhelming right now," she said gently. "The pandemic didn't just interrupt your career, it took away your routine, your sense of purpose, and the structure you've relied on for years. That's a tremendous loss, even if it doesn't always feel like one you're allowed to grieve."
Noah looked back at the camera, the tension in his shoulders easing just slightly.
"I hadn't really thought of it that way."
"You don't have to figure it all out today," Fallon said with a small smile. "For now, maybe we can just start by understanding what this loss has meant for you and work forward from there."
For the first time since the session began, Noah returned a faint smile of his own.
"Yeah," he said quietly. "I'd like that."
The remainder of the session was spent discussing what therapy might look like moving forward. Fallon explained her approach, answered the few questions Noah had, and together they settled on meeting once a week for the time being. As the hour came to an end, she confirmed their next appointment before offering him one last reassuring smile.
"It was nice meeting you, Noah. I'll see you next week."
"You too."
The screen flickered, and his square disappeared from the monitor.
For a moment, Fallon remained where she was, hands resting quietly on her keyboard as the silence settled over her apartment. Then, with practiced familiarity, she opened his chart and began documenting the session.
Presenting concerns: Anxiety, difficulty adjusting to recent life changes, sleep disturbance.
Clinical impression: Engaged. Thoughtful. Guarded, though receptive. Insight appeared good. Rapport established.
She reread the note once, saved the chart, and closed the laptop. Another intake complete.

Session 6
"How many hours did you sleep last night?"
Noah dragged a hand down his face, already looking tired. "I went to bed at 4 am. Soo," he counted silently on his fingers, âfive, maybe?â
"Maybe?"
He shrugged. "Jolly wouldn't shut up. He kept knocking on my door at like two in the morning about some mix he hates now."
Fallon raised an eyebrow. "So Jolly kept you awake until four?"
Noah hesitated.
"...No."
"No?"
"I mean-he started it," Noah said, a little defensive. "But then I was already up, so I figured I might as well work."
Fallon's mouth curved slightly. "Of course you did."
He huffed out a quiet laugh. "What was I supposed to do, just lie there?"
"That was one option."
"That sounds miserable."
"It usually does when you're not used to it."
Noah leaned back in his chair, rubbing at his eyes.
"I got stuff done, at least."
"I'm sure you did," Fallon said lightly. "But you didn't really solve the sleep problem."
He exhaled through his nose.
"...Yeah."
"You just gave it a different excuse."
That earned her a look.
"Wow. Okay."
"I'm not saying Jolly didn't disturb you," she added, a hint of amusement in her voice. "I'm saying you didn't have to turn it into a four-hour writing session."
Noah shook his head, but there was a reluctant smile there.
"When you say it like that, it sounds bad."
"It sounds accurate."
He let out a quiet laugh, glancing away from the camera.
Fallon leaned forward slightly, her tone softening.
"I'm noticing a pattern," she said. "Whenever something disrupts your routine, or you feel anxious, you don't really stop. You just pivot. One thing turns into another, and suddenly you're busy again."
Noah stared at something off-screen for a moment.
"...Yeah."
"Touring became writing," she continued. "Writing becomes emails. Emails become cleaning. Somewhere in there, you're telling yourself you're resting."
He let out a breath.
"I never thought about it like that."
"I know." Fallon smiled gently. "That's why we're talking about it."
The silence that followed wasn't uncomfortable, just thoughtful.
"So," she said after a moment, "this week I don't want you to fix it."
Noah glanced back at the screen.
"That's new."
"I just want you to notice it," she clarified. "Every time you feel that urge to fill the space, whether it's because you're anxious, bored, or just uncomfortable, pause long enough to recognize it."
"...And then what?"
"Nothing," she said simply. "That's it."
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
"That feels like a trick."
She laughed softly. "It's not. Awareness comes first."
Noah leaned back again, considering.
"...Alright. I can do that."
Noah and Fallon continued discussing his work life, how lockdown impacted their work and the ways the music industry had adjusted to continue on.
âChris told me heâs still doing a set for download fest since it's happening virtually now.â
Fallon raised an eyebrow. âChris?â
âYeah, you know, Motionless in White?â he responded as if it would be obvious.
âHow do you know that's something I would know?â she interrogated jokingly.
âCâmon itâs pretty obvious you listen to our type of music. Youâre covered in tattoos, have dyed hair and piercings, and you literally have a Motionless vinyl on the wall behind you.â He said, his face lit with a smile.
Fallon turned around quickly, surveying the display behind her desk.
âGuilty,â she laughed.
âYeah weâre tight, he is my coworker after all. Him and all the other bands you listen toâ Noah gloated sarcastically, failing to stifle his laughter.
Fallon smiled at her lap and shook her head. âOkay, rockstar.â
By the end of the session, Noah seemed lighter than when he'd logged on. They reviewed his âhomeworkâ for the coming week, confirmed the same time next Tuesday, and exchanged their usual goodbyes before the screen faded to black. Fallon sat quietly for a moment, staring at the now-empty Zoom window. Before she realized it, she caught herself smiling.
He'd laughed more today.
She reached for her keyboard, shaking her head with a quiet, amused exhale as she opened his chart. Progress, she reminded herself. That's all this was. She documented the session, saved her note, and moved on to the rest of her afternoon.
________________________
Time seemed to pass by quicker than usual being stuck at home. Fallon spent most of her time in her desk chair in front of the computer in session or completing notes. What was happening in the world had a huge impact on her clients in so many ways. It was hard not to feel burned out.
Eventually, a much needed day off came around. Fallon lounged on the couch, dressed in a comfy matching set, and worked her way through a pint of ice cream. Reality TV sounded through the room and her friend spoke through the speaker of her phone on Facetime.
âI mean at least you get to talk to people all day, Iâm so lonely here.â Michelle sighed dramatically.
âWell itâs not really talking to people, theyâre my clients. Iâm giving them therapy. There's really nothing in it for me per se. Donât get me wrong, I love my job, it's just not the same as talking to likeâŚfriends.â Fallon explained.
âSo there's NOTHING entertaining about it? Nothing juicy? No hot guy clients? No nasty fights between couples? Câmon.â
Fallon's cheeks flushed, and she was suddenly glad the camera wasnât aimed at her face. Any hot guy clients? She instinctually wanted to scream NO, but a second later a face had popped into her head. She swallowed down the thoughts and internally panicked. They had always taught in grad school that attraction was okay, normal even, as long as the clinician worked through it and managed the case ethically.
âTheres...Even if there was, I couldn't tell you. Confidentiality.â Fallon replied defensively.Â
Michelle rolled her eyes on screen.
After the call, Fallon sat silently. Thinking. She turned on the TV and let her thoughts melt away.

Noah forced himself to close Logic and tear the headphones from his head. His ears were fatigued from listening to the tiniest of details in the mix he was working on, his throat scratchy from recording so many vocal takes. His stomach ached with hunger after neglecting all other signals from his body besides the creative parts of his brain. He was putting so much into this new album. Noah envisioned it; restrictions lifting, the new album releasing, a huge headline tour. He couldnât slow down, he had to keep working, keep doing something. Fallonâs words filled his head.
Fallon.
Noah looked forward to Tuesdays every week, now. He got to dump out all of the stress, all of the worries. Not only did she listen, she cared. She pushed against his stubbornness. After a few weeks she could already read him like a book. It was something he had never truly experienced before.
Noah stood up from the desk chair and stretched, then walked out of the studio into the kitchen. Jolly was singing to himself, piecing together a sandwich. He turned around, startled by Noahâs presence.
âHoly shit youâre alive.âÂ
Noah gave him a puzzled look.
âYouâve been in there for like 8 hours, I forgot you were even here.â
Noah wasnât sure what to say, he was too busy thinking about how he had pushed himself to the limit once again. Pause long enough to recognize it she had told him. He took a breath and continued on.
After eating for the first time in hours, he went upstairs to his room. His thoughts urged him to pick up a guitar, work out that one bridge, or finish the drum track he needed to send to Folio. He didnât let himself. Noah looked around the room. He searched for anything enticing, any possible purpose for him trapped within the confines of the house. His attention turned to the game controller on his desk, then he powered on his PC.
Opening the search engine, he typed in Twitch. Heâd keep himself busy, but this would be purely for fun.

Session 11
âI reached my sub goal like 2 weeks early this month.â
âIâm not gonna pretend that I know what that means, but you seem excited about that, so thatâs really greatâ Fallon responded with a laugh.
âYeah, I guess I didnât know if anyone would even watch, but itâs turned into a great way to connect with the fans and share band stuff without being able to tour or do a lot of press or anything.â
âInteracting with fans. That sounds like something really important, yeah? I mean the whole notion of having âfansâ that is. What's that experience like for you?â
Noah went on about how happy he was that anyone cared to listen to their music, let alone support them in other ways. He felt so lucky. Sure, it was overwhelming sometimes, but it came with being a musician.
âActually- a few weeks back, I streamed while I did the vocal takes for one song on the acoustic album I told you aboutâ he said excitedly.Â
âThatâs awesome, a little behind the scenes.â
âYeah⌠thinking about the lyrics the other day, it kind of made me think of therapy.â
âHow so?â Fallon asked, tilting her head inquisitively.
âIt talks a lot about having someone there for you in your darkest time, and thatâs what I feel yo-â he stopped himself, âwhat I feel therapy has been for me. I mean a lot of my music in general talks a lot about my feelings. It makes it a lot easier to work through them.â
Fallon nodded, letting him process the thought.
âYou should listen to it. Itâs called âIf I'm Thereâ.â He said plainly, looking down to avoid her gaze.Â
"...Actually,â he rubbed the back of his neck, "...Would that be weird?"
Fallon furrowed her brow. "What?"
"You. Listening to it.â
Fallon thought about it for a moment, deciding it might be beneficial material to explore during a session.
âNo⌠no not at all. Weâre about at our time for today but yeah, Iâd be open to it next session!â Fallon said sincerely. The call ended shortly after.
________________________
That night, Fallon paced back and forth in her lonely apartment, bored out of her mind. She walked into her bedroom and grabbed her earbuds from her nightstand, fitting them into her ears before plopping onto her bed. She laid staring up at the ceiling, letting the music fill her head. The next song shuffled on.
Another Life.Â
Motionless in White.
Noah.
A smile spread across her lips, recalling their earlier session; how he just knew she liked heavy music, the way he'd proudly talked about the acoustic album, and his parting words asking her to listen. Fallon wrestled with herself for a moment before picking up her phone from beside her and opening Spotify. She typed Bad Omens into the search bar.
She hesitated.
What exactly was she doing? Trying to understand her client better? Trying to analyze his lyrics? Trying to make herself a better therapist?
With a quiet sigh, she held down the backspace key until the name disappeared from the screen.
"No," she murmured to herself. Not everything had to be clinical.
She spent so much of her life being Fallon the therapist that she'd almost forgotten there was supposed to be a Fallon underneath it all. A woman who loved loud music, spent too much money on vinyl records, and occasionally disappeared down internet rabbit holes in various emo band fandoms.
She typed Bad Omens into the search bar again.
This time, she didn't offer herself an excuse.
She clicked on the artist profile and pressed play. Not as a clinician trying to understand a client, but as Fallon- a woman who happened to enjoy heavy music and had permission to simply listen.
Author's Note: Words cannot describe how hard I worked on this chapter. I think I wrote then deleted parts a thousand times, it was two chapters then turned to one, it challenged the SHIT out of me but i'm SO PROUD of it so I really hope this story lives up to your expectations. If you need me I will be writing and thinking about Noah holding a sword during Dethrone. -XOXOXO LILA <3
I just want you to know Iâm still thinking about this ⌠like it is sooo heavy on my mind. actually frothing at the mouth for this version of Noah you donât even know
What if I expanded on this?
What if we talked about not only the fun part of having Noah entirely obsessed with you (not Obsession level obsessed, please donât get me twisted like that), but maybe things get a little out of control?
What if he gets so obsessed that you see the way it affects him?
Heâs sick when he canât be with you.
He refuses to tour.
Heâs letting the band down.
Heâs letting the fans down.
Sure, heâs doting on you. He loves you. Canât stop reminding you.
But every reminder is also a reminder that it isnât real.
It was fun at first, but its stops being fun when you realize, youâre ruining him.
So what if you lift the spell? Let him go. Feel heroic doing it. Feel relieved. A part of you clings to hope that deep down, he grew to love you. Really love you.
ButâŚ
He doesnât.
In fact. What if he fucking hates you for it? And makes sure to remind you how you ruined him?
Summary:Â When Bad Omens' first headline tour is abruptly cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Noah Sebastian reluctantly turns to therapy to navigate a future he never saw coming.

Fallon
Fallon crossed the street, coffee cup in hand, heading towards the doors of her office building. She looked down at her watch and sighed in relief, there was plenty of time before the clinical meeting began. She greeted the other clinicians mingling in the lobby with a soft smile before slipping into her office and plopping her bag down in her chair. Making her way around the room, Fallon flicked on the various lamps, filling the room with warm light. Much more comfortable than the fluorescent overheads.Â
Fallon straightened one of the throw pillows before setting her coffee beside the tissue box. The room was intentionally soft; neutral walls, warm lighting, shelves lined with psychology texts and the occasional self-help book she'd actually recommend. If someone walked through the door anxious, she wanted the room to feel like an exhale. Behind her desk, a large mahogany frame hung centered on the wall, reading San Diego State University, Fallon Villa, Masterâs of Arts Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Something she had worked tirelessly for over the last 5 years. Every now and then she still caught herself staring at it.
She settled into her desk and paused for a moment after her rushed morning before unpacking her things.
Fallonâs phone lit up on her desk as she clicked through her sessions scheduled for the day.
2 New Messages: Michelle
So? Howâd it go last night???
I want the TMI version
1 Unread Message: Mom
Was he nice? He sounded like he was gonna be a great guy
She locked her phone screen, ignoring the interrogations. She didnât feel like explaining herself, or reliving the previous night of fake-deep conversation. She glanced at the clock. She grabbed her coffee cup and folder before heading to the clinical meeting. Therapists filed into the conference room. Fallon took a seat next to her supervisor, Talia, who greeted her warmly.
âHappy Wednesday,â Talia said cheerfully.
"It certainly is one of the Wednesdays I've experienced"Â Fallon responded sarcastically.
Talia lowered her voice, âDate didnât go well?â
âIt went well, I justâŚI donât know it felt more like a client than a potential boyfriend.â She replied, sounding defeated.
âWell I hope you at least tried to shut off and enjoy yourselfâ Talia said, inclining her head towards Fallon, âYou need to spend more time as Fallon and not just Fallon The Therapist, it will be good for you AND your clients.â
Fallon smiled grimly, then turned her attention to the clinical director who began to address the group.
"Before we move into case consultation," Dr. Brooks began, looking around the conference room, "I'd like to spend a few minutes talking about the state of emergency that was declared recently."
He glanced down at his notes before looking back up.
"At this point, we still don't know what the next several weeks are going to look like. Things are changing almost daily, and there's a lot of uncertainty, for us and for our clients."
Several heads nodded around the room.
"I expect many of you will start seeing this come up in session, regardless of diagnosis. Clients with anxiety, OCD, health anxiety, depression... even those who have been relatively stable may find themselves feeling more distressed simply because of the unpredictability of what's happening."
He folded his hands on the table.
"Our job isn't to have all the answers. It's to help clients tolerate uncertainty, regulate their emotions, and maintain whatever sense of stability they can while things continue to unfold."
After a brief pause, he continued.
"As an agency, we're monitoring guidance from the state and the CDC closely. If anything changes regarding scheduling or how we're providing services, we'll communicate that as soon as we know more. For now, continue documenting any concerns that seem directly related to COVID-19, and don't hesitate to bring difficult cases to supervision or consultation. This is new territory for all of us, and we'll navigate it together."
The meeting went on, therapists discussing cases and ethical dilemmas for guidance as usual. Afterwards, Fallon gathered her folder and coffee and filed out with the crowd. Talia slowed outside the door and fell into step with her.
âI have back to back to back sessions practically all week but you know you can reach out any time if you need anything, I know thereâs a lot going on. Otherwise Iâll see you next week for our supervision meeting. Same time as usual?â
âYeah, same time!â Fallon nodded, then headed to her office to prepare for her first client.
Noah
Noah stood with the rest of the band in the green room, popping in his in-ears and adjusting the mic pack in his pocket. Their stage manager called out letting them know it was 2 minutes until showtime, and they followed him through the hall to the stage door. The smell of beer, sweat, and fog filled the air and Noahâs pulse quickened. The lights in the venue dimmed and screams erupted from the crowd.
This was it. This was all he ever wanted. So much sacrifice had gone into this, from dropping out of school to tour with Immoralist to moving across the country and cramming in a tiny LA apartment to build Bad Omens from the ground up. He had taken so many chances, had put his all into this, and it was finally paying off. Those screams? All for them. A Bad Omens headline tour. It was really happening. Things were moving in the right direction after all those years. The opening riff hit, and the strobes flashed as he ran to center stage. Heat from the lights washed over him as the crowd surged forward, voices rising loud enough to drown out the click track in his ears. For the next hour, nothing else existed.Â
The show came and went in a blur of blinding lights, sweat-soaked shirts, and voices screaming every lyric back at them. By the time they made it back to the green room, the adrenaline had barely begun to fade when the atmosphere shifted. Phones buzzed one after another. Their tour manager stepped into the room, his expression enough to quiet the conversation before he even spoke.Â
âWe need to talk guysâ Matt said, defeated, "I just got off the phone with Live Nation... and then the venue... and management. They're shutting everything down. Cleveland was... apparently our last show."Â
Noahâs heart beat so loud in his chest he could hear it echoing in his ears.
âWhat?â
âThe rest of the tour needs to be cancelled, or postponed, Iâm not sure.â Matt replied.
Questions filled the room faster than anyone could answer them. When would they be back? What happened to the crew they had paid? Could they finish out this run?
âWe..I..guys I donât know, but the venue for tomorrow already closed. Everything else is following. Nobody knows how long it's gonna last."Â
âWhat do we do?â a voice asked.
âWe pack up, we find flights, rides, whatever we can and we go home to wait it out I guess.â
Noah had gone silent.
Two weeks later, Noah sat in his room, where he had spent the majority of the last few weeks. He had caught a flight with Jolly from Ohio to LA, Folio and Ruffilo had rented a car and traveled back to the east coast. They had spent the next few days assessing the damages. All of the money lost on merch and equipment, contacting venues to see if there was any way they could reschedule, and dealing with the pure shock of it all ending so abruptly. Once the phone calls stopped and there was nothing left to figure out, reality finally settled in. Noah was left to deal with his thoughts and the shitty cards that had been dealt to him. It started to take a toll.Â
He sat at his desk, the glow of his 3 monitors lighting up the room. His fingers hovered over the keyboard, hesitating, before taking the jump and filling out the client information form on the screen in front of him.

It's Friday the 13th, and as I'm sitting here having a horror movie marathon, I had a thought - there aren't any BO slasher/horror movie inspired fics! (I'm probably the only unhinged person who would want it lol)
Imagine renting an Airbnb cabin in the woods for the weekend with the guys and all of your friends. The cabin is supposedly haunted and is on land that used to be a summer campground until something happened. Locals say there's a mask wearing maniac still roaming the woods. Is it true or just an urban legend to scare tourists?
Orrrrr plot twist maybe there's a mask wearing psycho, secretly obsessed with the camp legend, already hidden amongst your group of friends? đą

A Grave Mistake
"How much did we pay for this place, again?" You asked, waving a hand through the visible dust floating in the air.
Matt scoffed at your comment, pushing past you through the doorway of the cabin. "It was a good price, and it's historic. So, we're going to enjoy it."
His tone had you sneering at him. You never did get along with Matt, despite how close you were with all of the other guys. It was time for the band's annual recording retreat, where they rented an AirBnB for two weeks and buckled down on any pending or unproduced music. It always came just after the end of a tour circuit, and it doubled as a relaxing vacation and a productive recording session.
You, acting as one of their assistants with your best friend, Sidney, had agreed to come. Last year, when they went up to their usual cabin in Big Bear, you had a conflict with your family, and had to bail last minute. They never seemed to let you forget it. Sidney, who was in a new relationship with Nick, had been to each one since they started doing them four years ago, and told you that the boys had argued so much that you were fortunate to have missed it.
Because of that, you were skeptical of this trip already. When the regular AirBnB was booked for this month, and a new location had to be chosen, you had suggested everyone postpone the trip for another few weeks when the cabin opened.
Matthew, on the other hand, rambled and raved about tradition, and somehow convinced Noah and Jolly to go in on a new place in the much more secluded mountains of Forest Falls. It was still stunning out here, but civilization was scarce. The last storefront business you had passed was at least fifteen miles down the mountain, and there were no neighbors to speak of. Despite it being eerie for obvious reasons, you couldn't help but wonder - what happened if there was an emergency? Cell service was so scarce, and it would take at least thirty minutes to maneuver the dirt roads to any other living person who could help.
"I mean, it's definitely not the usual place. But it's huge!" Noah boasted, opening his arms out at his sides in the large living room the front entryway opened up to. The cabin was an open floor-plan with a sunken in living room. Large couches covered in a hazy dust would look inviting if they appeared to have been used any time in the last three years.
Nick dropped his bag on the coffee table, arm firmly around Sidney's waist. "It just needs a good wipe down. As little as we paid, I think it's worth running a washcloth over the furniture."
Good ol' Folio, always being the optimist.
Matt clapped his hands together as the rest of the group moved into the cabin. "See! Some of us can see the rustic charm! Now, let's get our stuff set up in our rooms, and I'll get the food unloaded into the kitchen." His eyes skimmed over to you, narrowing in expectation. "You plan to cook tonight, right?"
"I don't remember agreeing to that." You shot back, jaw clenching and fist tightening around the strap of your duffel.
He smirked, crossing his arms. "Well, it's certainly what we pay you for."
"I'm an assistant. Not a fucking cook." The sneer in your voice was getting nastier, and you were making no attempt to calm it.
It really would be a long two weeks.
"I can help." An elbow bumped your shoulder, and you glanced up to see Noah glancing down at you with his quirky grin firmly in place under the ball cap he wore. "Davis will tell you, I'm a great helper."
Davis snorted from where he was walking up the staircase. "Yeah. As long as you get him drunk enough."
The look in his eyes and the tone of his voice calmed you enough that you let your muscles relax, fingers aching from white knuckling the strap.
"Fine. But I'm getting drunk and you're working the barbecue." You smirked at him.
"Deal."
After everyone had eaten until they were too full to move, most of them had moved outside into the grass, just off the deck, where the bonfire was roaring. The steak settled heavy in your stomach, giving you a warm relief from the earlier dread you had felt. You took a long pull from your solo cup where the vodka cranberry was blurring the edges of your consciousness.
Across the bonfire, Sid was leaned back into Nick, a blanket wrapped around the both of them. Davis sat next to Matt, chatting idly to themselves. Nicholas and Nadia had already retired to their room for the evening, following closely behind Bryan. Noah sat to your right, taking slow pulls from his beer bottle.
"Hey, so anyone know any scary stories they want to tell?" Nick chimed in, taking a long drag from the blunt he was passing around. You had shook your head when it was nearly passed to you, and you noticed Noah had done the same. "It seems fitting. Cold night, dark forest, campfire."
Matt chuckled. "Dude, what are we, at summer camp?"
Sid sat up, passing the blunt to her left, where Noah passed it straight across to Davis. "That's funny, actually,"
You rolled your eyes. "Here we go."
"What?!" She laughed, eyeing you. "I have a story!"
Noah leaned back, resting an arm on his knee, glancing at you knowingly. Sid had an affinity for the horrifying, and spit it out at any opportunity.
"It's about this place, actually."
You lifted your eyebrows. "You're full of shit. You just want to scare us."
She downed the last of her drink and shook her head. "Nope! You can fact check me."
"What are the odds that the place we happen to rent is haunted?" Noah asked, skepticism lacing his words.
Sidney smiled devilishly. "I don't know that it's haunted, but it does have history."
"Do tell, Sid." Your arms were wrapped around your knees pulled up to your chest, now halfheartedly interested.
"Well," She began, sitting cross-legged in front of Nick, who was now sitting up behind her. "Back in 2005, there was this group of people, like twenty-something-year-olds? They were staying here on Spring Break, just on vacation right? It was like, owned by one of their rich families or some shit." She spoke with her arms gesturing, pulling everyone in enough that she had their full attention.
"Anyway, they didn't come back to school when they were supposed to. They were all UCLA students. Six of them. Their parents sent the local Sheriff to come check on them." Her voice dropped in pitch, now leaning in toward the fire.
"When they showed up, all six of them were here, but they were all dead."
Collective expressions from everyone mirrored each other. Brows raised, disbelief on their faces, but still interested in the story.
"Each one of them were found, eviscerated, completely drained of blood, hanging from the banister of the staircase. They had been dead for three days before they found them. Their organs were laying on the floor underneath them."
You could see Davis cover his mouth in a gag. It almost made you laugh if you hadn't been so engaged in the story.
"The Sheriff retired the next day. He said he had never seen anything so horrible in his entire career." She took another long hit from the blunt before butting it out in the grass. "The worst part, though," She continued. "They never figured out what happened."
"What?" Noah asked, now fully entwined in the tale. "What do you mean? They didn't figure out who did it?"
She shook her head, looking directly at him. "Not a single lead. No fingerprints, hairs, shoe prints, or tire treads. Their car battery had been removed so they couldn't leave, and the house was destroyed."
"Oh, come on. You have to be making this up." You finally snorted, finishing the last sip of your drink.
She raised a hand in solidarity. "I swear it. It's all public info. When Matt said we were staying in Forest Falls, I started researching the town to see what there was to do while we were here. It's a pretty big story. Biggest thing that's happened to the town in decades."
"Yeah, well I'll be reading into this tomorrow, thank you." You smiled, rising to your feet. "Anyway, I'm turning in. See you all tomorrow?"
Collective nods, with the exception of Matt, who ignored you, came from all around. Noah jumped up to his feet as well, grinning sweetly toward you.
"I'll head in with you."
Heading back into the house, you ascended the stairs quietly, trying to be mindful of the likely sleeping bodies in the rooms around. The room you chose was at the end of the hallway, Noah's, the room two doors down. You both walked slowly down the hall, quietly chatting about what you had just heard.
"Leave it to Sidney to fuck with us on the very first night, huh?" You asked, shaking your head.
Noah leaned a hip against the door frame of his chosen room. "Eh, I don't know. It sounded pretty legit."
You stared at him in bewilderment. "You don't actually believe that, do you? What are the odds the one place we rent happens to be the site of a horrific mass murder? Unsolved mass murder?"
He shrugged. "I mean, maybe that's why it was so cheap to rent?"
"Well, I think Sid has a wild imagination and a tendency to exaggerate." You smiled, leaning your own hip against the wall to match his body language. It was a comical effort, as he stood over a foot taller than you did.
"You going to come to the creek tomorrow? Davis said he's pretty sure he found a spot we can hike. Folio just wants to fish."
You rolled your eyes. "That's all he ever does."
His smile was tired, and you returned it. "True, but he promised if he catches anything good, he'll cook it for us."
"Man does know how to cook his fish." You nodded, noticing he was leaning forward just slightly. "See you tomorrow?"
Noah looked a little dejected, pulling back and standing up straight, but he affirmed you anyway. "Bright and early."
You retreated back into your room, smiling to yourself. Noah had been dropping subtle hints for months now that he was interested in being more than friends. You'd be lying if you said you weren't interested as well, but you had to maintain a professional relationship with him, and were nervous to allow something more to happen. You already didn't get along with their Tour Manager, last thing you needed was to make things awkward with the front man of the band. You would do everything you could to keep your relationship with Noah platonic, but you did have to admit that it was getting more and more difficult.
He was such a sweetheart, doing and saying all the right things. Being helpful whenever he could. Running interference between you and Matt. Always lending an ear when you needed to vent or listening when you wanted to gush. You had your own aspirations of eventually becoming a Tour Manager, doing stage productions and event management. Your biggest supporter, outside of Sidney who had been admittedly distracted lately, was Noah.
When you laid in bed that night, listening to the crickets lulling you into a sleep, you let your mind wander to the idea of you and Noah. What that relationship looked like. His large brown eyes only ever looking at you. His big hands wrapping around your much smaller ones. His lips on yours. His body curled around yours at night. It sent you off into the sweetest dreams.
You were so encased in your fantasy, the excitement of possibility breathing life into your mind, that you didn't hear the silent scream from the yard. The sound of blade cutting into bone, or flesh ripping open. Blood pouring out onto the deck, seeping into the grass and being washed away silently by the evening rain that came.
