Upcoming alternative rock band, The Swiines, sold out Rock City in Nottingham in June to their growing fan base and fortunately I was there to witness their incredible live set.

The last minute decision I made to accompany my friend to see this local band in their hometown was one I'll never regret. The group made the small basement club feel like an arena, the atmosphere was amazing with their echoing riffs filling the room with sound and their fans with energy, nodding heads and jumping around to their catchy vocals.

                  I first heard The Swiines in February earlier this year, when supporting frontman Scott Bugg's cousin, Jake Bugg at Capital FM Arena. I've stood through some of the worst support acts in the past few years, so I didn't have high hopes for this band, who didn't seem to have a huge fan base at the time. Having queued up for 5 hours earlier that day, I was surprised, and rather glad when these four local men, formerly two separate bands, The Bets and The Arcane, filled the 10,000 full arena with their impressive rock songs.

Therefore, when offered a ticket to see them again at a more intimate gig, I couldn't say no. It was the best £7 I've spent. I seem to have their songs on repeat at the moment, my favourites being Love Is Blind and Stonefaced. However, My Plasticine Bowl is also an amazing indie anthem which got the whole of Rock City singing and dancing along to Scott's elevated vocals.

To add to the thoroughly enjoyable night, The Swiines had chosen three incredible young bands to support them. My favourite being Field Studies who are also an upcoming rock band, with incredible vocals and an impressive set, I honestly look forward to what this band will do in the future.
