Those eyes were charged at the idea of a foolhardy hero paying a price! It made those chocolate spikes prop up in near comical effect, rapid snaps of his head peering directly at her form to the blazing outside.

a visible shiver goes through her body at the foreign chill of sora's hand in hers. considering the temperature outside, the sensation isn't all together unpleasant. but since she knows that he is quite aware of the fact that a handshake wasn't her intention with the gesture, she does fix him with a flat stare.

the young earthbender's reputation preceded her. it was practically well known folklore that toph had made mischief a habit as easily as she had her bending style. perhaps hotaru had no one to blame but herself for falling so neatly into the trap of terror that had been laid before her.

the roaring laughter that met her reaction was, frankly, unsurprising. though she knew it was useless, hotaru fixed the other girl with a glare, pressing her palm against the stony hand still wrapped around her bicep in an effort to dislodge it from her person. crafted by an ally or not, it was still a little unsettling.

 ⠀ ⠀arms cross over chest and tanjiro hums as he gazes up at the ceiling, allowing his eyes to trail over wooden panels. hotaru-san did have a point….

she isn't normally one to lean so heavily into the theatrics. but in this case, they hardly feel like hypotheticals or exaggerations.
