The last guy I was with tried to break me, but your love taught me that there’s always hope for us to be loved for exactly who we are,

imperfections and all. As long as we do our best to stay good people of course.

We just need someone else who will put on their best effort too, someone who will stand up against the injustice, no matter how big or small. You made me think i’m good enough without anyone telling me i need to be perfect. Without someone saying I’m not good enough for being my raw, imperfect self.

With you by my side, I can be whatever I want to be because I know there’ll never be any doubt about your love.

I love listening to you talk, listening to you plan and backtrack and update and grow.

I love watching your mind work. I know you don’t think it works well, but I think it’s a beautiful place.

I love watching you move, the way you pump your fists in the air in excitement every time you finish working some problem out in your head, the way you stand up when you get passionate about something, the way you duck your head and look up from beneath your eyebrows when you’re unsure of yourself.

I love coffee with you, and getting the mail, and your smirk when you crack a joke.

I want to be closer to you. When we’re sitting on a couch a foot apart, it takes all of my focus not to lean into your chest, not to caress your cheek, not to pull you into me.

I want to, God I want to so badly. I want to buy your coffee, and lay my head on your shoulder, and walk with your hand in my pocket. I want to be seen with you.

I want to meet your roommate. I want to see where you live. I want you to see where we live. I want you to come over for dinner, or movies.

I want you to kiss me. I’ve never kissed anyone before but I want you to kiss me, in the snow. I want your hands on my waist and my arms around your neck and I want to be as close to you as possible.

This letter is about a story. A great love story. But, how would I write that story?.....

If I wrote the greatest love story ever, would I start out by saying you are the only one? Or, would I hope that I am the only one?

In my letter, would I tell you I’d give you the stars? The moon, the sky? Things I can’t. Would I promise you treasures? Things I can’t really give? Or, would I promise real treasures? Like my heart, my soul, my life itself.

Would I tell you how beautiful you are? Or, how much I enjoy the beauty inside too, the real beauty. The beauty that matters. The beauty I can’t see. But that I know is there.

Yes.

Yes, it would say all of that.

The greatest love letter should include promises. Things like now and forever. More today than yesterday. But mine would be short with words written. Only saying......”I’ll breathe till I don’t. But love you till I die.”

And, that’s enough. That’s great.

You deserve love, support and affection especially when you’re feeling depressed and alone and I, I wish to be that someone for you. No, I Promise you that I’m loyal to you and will eternally stand by your side, not just through the good times, but the dark times as well.

We will never go wrong in life again as long as I have breath left in my body. Your beauty, your heart, the very core of you, is everything to me. Everything.

I love you more than my own life itself… I love you so much my love. But you don’t need to feel like this. And what hurts the most is how much it pains me to see you like this. How pained and helpless you look… how scared and broken you sound.

To the Over-Achiever,

           Driven and accomplish-laden, your ambition to rise to the top is unparalleled, but do not forget that your body deserves breaks, too. Afraid of failure and feedback resistant, you wade through the waters of professionalism until you arrive safely to the other side. You carry whatever stragglers you find with you along the way.

           You are not worthless. You can never be worthless—not only because of your distinctive intrinsic worth, but also, because I see that you are working so hard not to be. I see how you would never let yourself fall into that subdivision. I see you.

           Dedicated to your goals and task-oriented, you want so much to continually improve, and my darling, do you continually improve. I know because I’ve watched you grow—shape—change forms and metamorphosis in to the you that you are today.

           But I know that you struggle. I know you focus too much on success and not enough on accepting your failures, but my god, you are human.

           And you are going to fail.

           I know you don’t want to hear that, but I’ve advice, still. Next time, fail more spectacularly. Fail better. I challenge you to fail again. Can you manage that accomplishment, sweet love? And if you can, I’ll be so proud. But if you can’t—just give it time. For, I know, when given time, you will eventually achieve all the chores that have been laid out before you.

           Because you are self-aware, I believe that you understand that your value does not lie in what and how much you can accomplish in any given timeframe, but I know, too, that you so very often refuse to let your soul rest. But you have to let yourself rest; the child within you deserves to finally be able to rest.

           Remember that you are one person, and that you do not have to accomplish the to-do list of an entire office every single time you bring yourself to work. You are not required to run every errand and do every chore—not on your own, and especially not within the mere moments you are holding yourself so rigidly to.

           Stop trying to impress other people. Focus on yourself and who you are. Let your accolades fall away from you, and allow yourself to feel worthy without them—without the self-imposed allegation that others will expect more from you than you can give to them. You are enough.
