A time he will never remember,
and we will never forget.
Some see flowers dying.
Some see blooms.
I see samurai warriors, shields out.
I see planets forming, galaxies of colors.
I see worlds inside of worlds.
Some see flowers dying.
I see life.
Sitting here drinking the second cup of coffee, outside on my patio, with music playing and my dogs laying around enjoying our morning.
And I am thinking I have got it pretty good.
I do.
I am taking a short break from the picture I am working on just to think. Reflect in a way, on the good things in my life.
We all should do that.
Bad can overwhelm us. The hustle and bustle. The deadlines and the what’s nexts can put us in a funk. It can feel like too much.
But, I have this morning. Anything that can try to take me down is not real right now. Not here. Not now.
I think we have to take the small victories, we all have them, and build on them. Positive energy is the key to happiness.
That might be the most obvious thing I have ever said, but it’s true. Create your own path by clearing the way with good vibes. Believe in the good, and make it so.
Sure negative things happen, but until they do, they don’t. So, as a famous philosopher once said, “what, me worry?” ( Alfred E. Newman )
I am gonna sit here, think about all the good things that have happened.
I am gonna drink this second cup.
And I am gonna sing this song, and I don’t even know the words.
My dogs think I do.
In a world that seems like “they” want you to believe is all bad, it’s not. You just have to seek out the good.
Be the good.
I believe that positive energy is the key. I believe we can project whatever we want, good or bad. So, why not good? Why not believe it?
Lately I have been going into my own backyard at about 7:30 in the evening. The sun is making it’s way down, but the glow coming from the west is magic. Yes magic. You just have to be thankful. Thank whatever power you know. Fill yourself with the sunshine. Be grateful for this day, and let yourself feel the power. And believe good is real.
This world wants you to.
Good is real.

I think love,
should kick me in the heart. Should smack me in my teeth.
Should squeeze the tears and drink them,
before they hit the ground.
I think love,
should grab me by the guts. Should tear the smile right from me.
Should punch me in my face and laugh,
before I turn around.
I think love,
should hurt the pleasant places.
Should pull the strings and break them.
Should look at me and wonder,
before I come unwound.
I think love,
should sing a song that haunts me.
Should say the same verse over.
Should repeat the lines that hurt me,
before I make a sound.
I think love,
should take a knife and cut me.
Should crack my ribs and crush me.
Should leave me to die slowly,
before I’m stitched and bound.
I think love,
should pick me up and hug me.
Should press the air right out me.
Should collapse the lungs that breathe me,
before I choke and cough and drown.
I went to see Toy Story, just like I have all the other ones.
But, this one was different.
This one taught me a few things.
Like, sometimes, you lose your friends.
Like, real friends don’t give up.
But mostly, you’re never good for nothing.
People grow up. They move away, or move on. They have their own things. Maybe it’s time we allow that and don’t make our whole life for their pleasure. And by that I mean, live with them, but not for them. You will lose friends. Some forever. You will. Just don’t lose yourself. Your meaning.
Real friends are there for you. Maybe not everyday. But a real friend will be there when you need them. Time has nothing to do with it. They will come thru for you. A real friend can be depended on, not dependent on. They will never give up on you, no matter how low you go, or how far you fall. Real friends don’t give up. On each other.
You are never, ever, good for nothing. At times it may feel like you have no meaning, no purpose, but you do. There’s always someone that looks at you and needs you to look back. Be there. At your lowest moments, there’s still someone that needs a friend, like you. Just like you.
They talked about lost toys, and what that meant to me was, lost souls. We all struggle at times. And believe me, the struggle is real.
But, you can lose people, and still have them.
You can lose yourself, and be found.
You are never really lost.....
You just have to look.
Be the one that says, “You’ve got a friend in me.”
#findyourself

A work in progress maybe. Could be a blessing or a curse.
You are 24karat in my 14karat world.
And just knowin’ that maybe, just maybe at one time…..maybe I could have.
That lights a fire.
Seein you, that stokes that fire.
But let’s be honest.
In my mind,
I’ve had you 100 times.
Sunday’s
Early Sunday morning. 7:30 am, and the first cup of coffee. So calm. Birds chirping, dogs chasing each other showing off, a woodpecker knocking on a tree above. Perfect. What is it about Sunday’s that make them so special? What is it?
Is it the cool of a Sunday morning? The freeness of knowing I have nowhere to be, and all day to get there? Is it the loudness of the quietness? Is it the knowing that I may not get to relax very often, but now is my time? My time.
I’ve learned in my life to not take things as serious as they appear. Deadlines can be met or passed, but either way will happen or not. A bill due can be paid or be late, and it won’t matter in the long run. Sweating should come from fun, or work. Not worry.
Sunday mornings remind me of that. Sunday mornings show me that a big world, too big to really imagine, can be scaled down to two dogs, a backyard, the second cup of coffee, and that damn woodpecker.
We all have our place. We all have Sunday morning.
Remember, the real people, the ones you know and love, are every day people.
We ain’t billionaires.
We ain’t millionaires.
We are your next door neighbors.
We are mechanics. We are bartenders. We are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters.
We are every day people.
I love every day people.

You know,
when you write with a tear in your eye, the words look smudgy.
They seem hard to read,
and even harder to come by.
How do you explain what someone means to you,
when they have meant so much for so long?
She knew. I’m sure of that.
She knew what she meant.
You want to hold on forever,
but you know that time runs out.
