When you’re trying to take a direct flight to Charlotte and you get a delay. Oh okay. Another delay. Oh okay. I do hope we fly soon cause there’s a snow storm coming. Nope? Mechanical issues? Oh okay. Free hotel voucher, yay.
So they said snow but it is actually pissing it down. Luckily there is a shuddle to the hotel since you have no car and someone dropped you off because the airport is an hour and a half away! And luckily the shuddle is coming! So your dear father decides to wait outside, in the rain. Oh okay. And there are cars pulling up and splashing the freezing cold water at you! Well she shuddle should be here soon!
You wait 30 minutes. The “shuddle” is seemingly the kind hotel workers personal mini van. Apparently he has children, because the thing is full of toys and is a bit sticky. The drive is less than 5 minutes which makes you wonder why it took 30 minutes to get to the airport. Welp.
Awesomely, the lobby smells strongly of marajuana! Nothing wrong with this, I just don’t love the smell. You get a room. It doesn’t smell of marajuana! Yay! It is 2 in the afternoon at this point. There is nothing to do in this place. You color in your coloring book. Your father and sister nap.
It begins to snow. You order Wingstop. There are no napkins in the bag. You use the little towels in the bathroom and feel bad. You watch Nuremberg. It’s pretty good, not the best. The one guy is hot. You go to bed.
Next morning, rescheduled flight is at 12:30. You wake up at like 9 and eat breakfast in the lobby. Can’t go wrong with the waffle machine. It has snowed overnight and the wind is making it snow sideways! How on gods green earth, or white earth, are you supposed to get to the airport?
Shuddle guy has got you! The roads look terrible, but the drive is short, so you get to the airport at like 10:30. Your father, interestingly, decides to stop at the sketchy airport resultant and order “lunch”. You and your sister are not hungry. You overhear interesting work drama from the waitresses.
You get through security, again. You are sitting at the same gate. Delay. Oh okay. Delay. Oh okay.
It is about 4:30 when you get on the plane. Yay! It is the smallest plane you’ve ever been on! You sit on the plane for 2 hours on the ground. They spray it with orange and green stuff. Oh yay. St. Patricks day! Everyone is angry. The plane is hot. They have to refuel. Why? No one knows. You and your father and your sister make faces at each other and decide to exit the plane. So does about half of the plane. It is about 6:45 and you are stranded. Your mother cannot come get you because she’d been drinking with your neighbor since 4:30. You rent a car. You drive home. You stop at a truck stop, get Wendy’s. It is bad and there is not even any ice cream.
You get home. You sigh. You go to bed. You blame Donald Trump.
