Husky Paws

Hi guys, I'm getting a husky puppy this weekend and I'd like to keep this blog as an archive to Jasper so I've made a new blog for her. If you'd like to watch her grow, give this new blog a follow!

Guys when I first shared this today I didn’t realize but this is actually a dogblr dog. Hug your babies and keep them safe in the car. 😢

I keep seeing things like this, and I need to ask, how do you safely restrain a 100lb dog? I can’t fit Tyson’s crate in anything but a large truck (which I cannot afford), but all the harnesses I’ve come across are not rated for anything more than ~80lb dogs in a 25-35mph crash. :/

Apparently this - http://sleepypod.com/clickit - is one of the safest harnesses out there . I haven’t looked much into them because my dogs fit in 30" crates in my cargo area .

Thanks for sharing this here @pantsthepuppy. I know I haven’t been on this blog in a very long time. Please secure your dogs. This is the worst thing I’ve ever gone through and no one deserves it. Jasper would’ve been 2 years old on March 13. He died on March 3.

I’m so sorry @siberpaws, I can’t even imagine ! 😔❤️ I’m glad you were so willing to tell your story, people need to hear this because so many here in the US don’t secure their dogs in the car. Of course I wish Jasper was still with you and you didn’t have to tell this story but just know that you are helping to save the lives of other dogs . Jasper’s memory will live on and he will always be with you .

I have to admit, when the reporter first asked me about it I didn't really want to do it, and seeing myself on television in that way is so weird. But I'm glad I did. Because like you said, so many people here in the US drive with their dogs unrestrained. It's something that I feel so strongly about now. And though I'd have loved to have learned this lesson without losing my boy, I know now, and I'll never make the same mistake. To be honest, I'm not even sure a crate would've saved Jasper. My car was pushed off of an interstate highway, went airborne and rolled down a hill about four times. I'll never know. But crating dogs will save lives and if Jasper and mine's story can do that, then that's the best thing to come out of this.
