Yun Qi taunting Yanzhi and then Yanzhi responding by pushing Yun Qi down all domineering like, was so hot.

I love that Yanzhi keeps his eyes open so he can watch his beloved prince.

Holy shit. Thrusting? This has to be the most explicit nc scene from a mainland cbl yet. Oh my poor innocent eyes. Props to the sound editing team for adding those creaky wood sounds. That neck/adam's apple stroking is perfect. So sensual! AHHHHH!

So, all of this to say that he still went in, at his own risk and against all reason, and no one can convince me that it wasn't because he was burning for a chance to see Yuan Xizai again. The real one, even if just in a memory. Perhaps even to get clarity on the events that lead to the explosion that killed him. But mostly just to see his brother again after 50 years. But then... Then the one in front of him isn't Xizai at all, cause Li Jie has been sucked into the star stone too and taken his place. So we get this devastating moment

The look of absolute defeat on his face while he's toying with the obsidian fragment his brother gifted him, thinking of the pointlessness of his life's journey, of all his wasted efforts.

Even in a illusionary do-over, Yuan Wuhuo still "achieves nothing". He doesn't get to see Xizai again, he doesn't get to save him this time either. He attempts to stab Tiandi to death but that fails when the illusion just patches itself back together; he then tries crushing the 6-eyed butterfly pupa that would make Tiandi lose control, but that too doesn't change anything. The explosion still happens, Xizai (now Li Jie) is still closest to it and gets hit by the biggest shockwave of it, and Wuhuo is powerless to stop it. Powerless to stop history from repeating itself.

First because this evil prince stays red.

Like the man needs therapy and a new mom.

But also because Yin Qi and Pei Yan Zhi were so well color coded in the past.

Yin Qi was the light and happy fifth son of the emperor, and Pei Yan Zhi was a dark kid being held hostage because of his family's dealings.

And even though there was clearly love between them, Pei Yan Zhi only wanted to make sure Yin Qi was safe.

The Blinding Light of Love was always there, but Pei Yan Zhi kept avoiding it.

And the fire between them was obvious, but Pei Yan Zhi never would flame it.

Because his sole desire was to protect the light, not to be one with the light.

But three years apart caused Yin Qi to turn dark.

So now that he is back from death, there are barriers between the two.

Since all Yin Qi wants is the truth and openness between them while Pei Yan Zhi is still holding secrets.

And it took Yin Qi almost getting hit in his heart for Pei Yan Zhi to realize what resides in his own heart.

He literally sucked the poison out of Yin Qi to keep his light.

And the poison has always been the evil prince who continues to come between them.

So now that they can both be honest with each other, the barriers are dissolving.

But they are still being watched by the evil prince.

However, if I were watching the series, this would raise my hopes that they will get a happy ending this time around since they are stronger together.

And as long as the light remains, they can find their way of the darkness.

But I'm not watching it, so I'm not obsessed with them, their colors, or this story about the importance of light.

Not even close.

Not even a little bit.
