Teehee, imagine going out drinking with friends or something and at the end of the night you text Homelander like, "Babe, can you come get me? There aren't any taxis free. 🥺" Because you know that however annoyed he might be, he won't say no - then he couldn't swoop in like a big hero to make sure you get home safe (and then subsequently lord it over you) now could he?
When you see Homelander descend from the night sky, backlit by the tall street lamps, his silhouette is heavenly. His expression, however, is wholly unamused.
You smile broadly at him, swaying slightly. “You came.”
He scoffs, landing in front of you not with one of those dramatic superhero drops, but a graceful step down onto each foot. “Of course I came. You’re drunk. I could tell from your text,” he says, and though to anyone else it might sound a sneer, you can hear the concern in his voice.
“You would’ve come anyways,” you counter, stepping forward to wrap your arms around his neck. “You always do. My big strong hero,” you say, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck, drawing him in so that you can kiss his cheek.
Homelander’s lips twitch subtly. He’s biting back an incredulous smile. “You’re very drunk,” he says, his nose wrinkling slightly at the smell of alcohol on your breath.
“Mmmhm. Even if I could get a cab, someone might have taken advantage of me,” you say, doing your best to sound sober and serious on the matter, despite your grin.
Homelander hums, flashing those sharp canines of his in a wicked little smirk. You watch his tongue move along his teeth. “Someone still might,” he purrs, voice low in your ear. You yelp as he scoops you up suddenly, and then break out into giggles. Your stomach gives a little flip when he lifts up into the air. You’re not sure you’ll ever get used to the feeling. “After all,” he continues, tucking you in tight against his chest. “You owe me.”
