i do like daddy kink situationally. homelander is definitely nawt a character i associate it with, but i do love writing him as a menace who's here to aggressively exploit every potential weakness. getting off on knowing he's gonna get a gold star in sex. a subby service top building up all the good boy sex points he needs in order to get his own freak on 😂

After I watch a horror movie (even tho love them to death) I avoid mirrors. How cliche is a mirror jumpscare. Image the reader is in the same situation. And Homelander is a whiny bitch about it because “I will not go pee with u just bc you’re scared of a mirror…I’m the most powerful man in the worl-“
And then he realizes his own mistake. He is also kinda afraid of mirrors. Well. He caves in. Cause mirrors is like…one of 3 things he can sympathize with someone about. At least honestly.

ahahaha awww! i'm ngl that's very cute. he's definitely the kind of jerk to laugh and tease about it, but the second he resonates with any kind of genuine fear, it's suddenly not so funny.
i also think he really does relish the opportunity to have his ego fluffed. to feel like the big, strong hero who can chase away the fright without actually having to put much effort in.

BC, ok basically— I’m a huge chainsaw man fan and one of my fav characters is Aki Hayakawa, IDK IF UR INTO THAT SHOW but in case if u dont know he’s basically one of the main characters who kinda has a tragic life (thats an understatement) and hes sort of a self-sacrificial, parental dude and has that kinda vibe of like “oh I could fix them” LMAO (i’ve seen ur post Homelander and his fixation about femininity BUT WALK WITH ME PLEASE HEAR ME OUT)
I just think that he, and homelander would have such an interesting dynamic, like idk its hard for me to explain bc thats said, talking about his fixation for feminity and his relationships with women has always been.. well, transactional? Yk with Stillwell, SF, etc. And I think meeting someone, or Aki himself would like, idk.. make his brain possibly short circuit in a way. Because despite Aki’s appearance and demeanor— hes a very domestic dude, he cooks, cleans, whatnot. Hes also an understanding and empathetic person to an extent, and I could see his heart getting pulled into strings when he finds out what Homelander went through his whole life lol, maybe. And his features also kinda blends in between the masc and fem.. IDK im not making any sense haha im sorry im js really bad at explaining 🥀 I dont have anyone else to talk about this so yk 🥹🥹 i just wanted to know what you personally think of this ship!! hey listen, my only point was that i personally am most interested in his dynamic with women. as far as i'm concerned, ALL homelander ships are good ships. if you wanna give that man an anime malewife, then by god, you DO IT.
unfortunately i'm not familiar enough with chainsaw man to give you my proper thoughts. but i loved reading your spin on it. if it brings you enjoyment, that's really all that matters in a ship!
matching homelander with an "i could fix him" type seems particularly cruel, but all my favorite ship dynamics are the most dysfunctional ones, so that's probably ideal. 🤭
i know antony starr just having natural little fangs is unrelated to homelander but. they still make insane.
predator homelander. guardian livestock dog homelander. bite the hand that feeds homelander. yet at the same time. he looks like an excitable labrador.
Homelander is like a guilty pleasure for me. I think he's hot and interesting. It's nice to find other people to talk about him with.
and you're so right for that. frankly i don't think there's anything here to feel guilty about. it doesn't hurt anyone. and he IS objectively a good looking dude. that's the whole point!! i love love love the premise of a dude who looks every bit the part of the upstanding all american hero, but is a damaged Creature underneath.
starr plays him with so much love and attention to detail. i think he really was the best actor for the job. the character could have gone soooo sideways. but whether folks love him or just love to hate him, i don't think anyone can deny that he's a phenomenal character.
I need to ask, because I recently came across your one post where someone asked about an isekai situation… would you ever write like a ficlet or a blurb about it? I just know your writing and your thought process (and quite frankly your version of Homelander) would go so hard! Would it be something you’re interested in is all I’m asking. I know some people don’t like writing isekai stuff because it kinda trope-y.

listen... i know isekai stories are tropey... but i also grew up on them lmao especially fushigi yuugi and inuyasha. i love them!
although an isekai of the boys is a straight up horror story. it's scary enough writing homelander against normal people who don't know the extent of his history/depravity. having to face him while being keenly aware of all that??? yIKES.
i think it would be a lot of fun. i've evolved beyond cringe tbh. i'm all about what's the most indulgent thing i can do to enjoy myself. so i can absolutely see myself writing an isekai story. 🤭

Would he try to Americanize a non-American partner? He can get my Brazilianness out of my cold dead hands. It's weird, I don't feel bad or ashamed about being a woman and loving HL, but then I remember he's racist/xenophobic and try to hide I love him behind lock and key. Half of my brain is like: "I can excuse sexism but I draw the line at racism", and the half: "You can excuse sexism?".
If I'm not misremembering you're white, but since you're the *Official Homelander Oracle I'd love to know your opinion on this.
SO LIKE... i'm of two minds about this. and you're correct, i'm very white, so take my words with a grain of salt.
the thing about homelander's racism is that he doesn't actually care. it's a byproduct of the people he was raised by. he is a socially intelligent man in that he knows how best to hurt people. he uses microaggressions. he uses racial stereotypes to get his way. he does this for every person, though. he'll rip off ashley's wig, he'll fatshame, he's ableist, he'll force deep to eat fish, there really just isn't anything he won't go after in order to put someone down. in his mind, everyone is beneath him. non-supes the most.
but at the same time he's deeply put off by stormfront's rhetoric. obviously i'm not denying that he is a bigot, but he's also a major hypocrite. he'll create double standards in order to justify himself. he'll excuse things or rework them in his head. i don't really think he'd care about americanizing a partner because he doesn't actually give a shit about america. he only cares about his own desires and what will make him happy. if he met someone who made him happy, he would adjust. like, he's all about the beauty standard and able-bodied americans, but he couldn't let go of kentucky fried stormfront. as an amputee i have a lot of very weird feelings about that whole plotline lol
whether or not the fact his racism is half-hearted learned behavior affects those feelings for you is entirely up to you. as a lesbian i get the same ick whenever i think about him forcibly outing maeve on live television, mocking her identity, her fear he would hurt her girlfriend, etcetc.
ultimately i can brush it off because he's just my little dolly, and i like to play with him my own way. i totally respect folks who get hung up on those aspects of his personality tho. they really do fucking suck.
for what it's worth, i do think he'd pronounce your name right. like i said in the post you linked, he's a stickler for it! i can't think of a time he's (intentionally or not) mispronounced someone's name. even if he really disliked them. (looking at you, maureen, with your EBITDA numbers)
Hi Amy! Love your Homelander metas and fics! I’ve been seeing lots of HL edits on tiktok lately and is it me or more people are starting to admit they like him/are attracted to him now? Idk I feel like he is kinda underrated in the boys fandom, most people like Soldier boy or other characters but then again HL has the most fics on ao3 so idk. Do you think people are mostly ashamed to admit they like him or find him attractive?

it's hard to say, honestly. i've been running my blog since mid 2022, and in the 4ish years since, i've gotten a lot of messages from anons with very conflicted feelings. a lot of shame. i get a loooot more likes than i do reblogs, and while i know that's sort of the norm for tumblr these days, i do think part of that is people not wanting to "out" themselves as homelander fans. that said, there are definitely a lot more openly homelander centric blogs than there used to be!
a common mentality i see is aggressive contextualizing of people's love of him. they want to Other themselves from those "inferior, delusional fans" who "excuse and romanticize" him. so many people with disclaimers like "i hate him, he's awful! i want him beaten to death! i don't agree with anything he does! i'm one of the Good homelander fans! anyways, here's a whole bunch of fanart/fic/edits/etc"
which is funny because... i don't think any of us actually do that? i genuinely can't think of a time when i've interacted with another fan who denied any of his canonical attributes. very rarely i'll get pushback from someone who will say his rape was ooc, but i've addressed that before. and i've never seen anyone outright claim it didn't happen, or try to excuse it away. there's this strawman caricature of us that scares people into treating their enjoyment of his character as ironic, or pure schadenfreude.
so while i think his popularity is increasing, i don't think the shame associated with being a fan has really gone away much, if at all. but i do think there's more of us now who are willing to be the shameless faces of the homelander fandom, at least! and i'm always happy to encourage people to unironically embrace their love of morally reprehensible characters. because at the end of the day, homelander has never hurt anyone. he's not real. so enjoy!
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
