I am starting a project centered around Open Season. It takes place after those events and is centered around the villainâs, Shawâs, personal life and a ship of him with my oc (because I just love the scruffy guy!)

The state of Oregon was a beautiful place, filled with diverse nature, mountainous areas, and lush evergreen forests. Within it was a small town known as Timberline. The population was very limited and made up of a logging-style community. It was surrounded by Timberlineâs National Forest, a vast woodland filled with waterfalls and mountains. Many animals lived in these lands, ranging from prey to predator. The townsfolk were also very familiar with one another, as word traveled quickly and community events were popular.
With the large number of animals and the amount of land and forestry, hunters and poachers were very common in the region. Whenever open season rolled around, many people would travel to the forests in search of game. It was always abundant, as each yearâs hunters returned to their homes with pleased faces and filled stomachs. One incident changed this and made the animals much harder to hunt.
Three years ago, a captive bear was caught robbing and causing a ruckus in a local store. The bear was returned to its owner, Ranger Beth. The two used to run a show known as the Timberline Wilderness Extravaganza, in which the bear, known as Boog, performed stage tricks. After the robbery,the show was cancelled after the bear was seen âmaulingâ a deer behind the curtains. Both animals were tranquilized and transported over the falls soon after.
Two days later, when hunting season opened, multiple poachers reported that the animals had gone feral and heavily attacked them using machinery and household items. Two of the animals reported were none other than Boog and the same deer that had caused the end of Bethâs show. People believed the men were insane, yet they couldnât ignore the amount of reports. Later, investigators found trailer scraps, underwear, and other items scattered throughout the forest. Over the next three years, the incident was heavily debated, looked into, and eventually swept under the rug. It also regarded the actions of a notorious hunter. His name was Shaw.
Shaw was a lanky man, with a skinny build, messy mullet, and a scruffy handlebar mustache. He was told to have an arrogant and ignorant personality, being very impulsive, immature, loud, and prideful. For a living, he was a hunter (whether he had a license or not was never found out) and sold pelts of the animals he killed. He was the laughingstock of the town, lived on a plot of land in the middle of the woods, and was strayed away from. In the incident, he had tried to hunt both the bear and the deer, shooting in town multiple times and aiding in animal cruelty. His attempts were failures and after the whole thing gone down, he was dealt the consequences from the county sheriffâ Gordy. This further tainted his reputation and he resigned back to his loneliness. Life in the town moved on, dull and boring as ever.
