Yes, Lex did remember. The fact that his lover had just been divorced was part of the entire reason he had jumped on the opportunity—Roy was unattached now, and open to another romantic engagement, Whether he said as much or not.

“I’d say my sense of time is spot on, actually,” Lex responded, lips curling into an amused smile, and his eyes softened a little. He relaxed again, because here—he had caught Roy in his web again, and knew the younger man wouldn’t say no.

All he needed was a little push.

“Yes, I’d like to start a… relationship, if you wouldn’t be so opposed,” he affirmed, the unspoken as I know you wouldn’t be tacked on in how Lex looked at him. “It’s rather silly to be this physically intimate without acting on matters of the heart as well, isn’t it? Besides, I have an inkling you could use another element of stability in your life.”

"Tch." Of course Lex had been spot-on in that aspect -- Roy was single now, so why not just move in and try to snatch him up? But that was far from the point. After something as turbulent as what he'd had with Jade, he would have done well with a much-needed break from any intimate relationships. To just focus on himself and Lian and getting by for a while.

Then again, it wasn't like he and Lex weren't already intimate. A legitimate relationship wasn't exactly that far of a stretch from where they stood at that point.

Roy hadn't missed the look on Lex's face that told him the elder man apparently knew he wasn't going to say no. Which only succeeded in making the archer feel rather indignant. Regardless of how accurate it was. "It'd be nice to have a break between relationships -- not that I'd expect you to idly wait around for my sake. The divorce wasn't exactly easy." He groaned, rather softly, and regarded Lex for a moment. He couldn't deny that stability was a welcome thought. "Just... Give me time to think about it over dinner. I'm sure that even you can wait that long."

“I’d rather the tabloids catch wind of it on my terms, rather than by noticing your late night visits to the penthouse,” Lex said, sounding a little indifferent at the prospect all the same. “Much less of a scandal this way, if they’re under the impression that, because it is a date, there’s something else underlying it than simply good sex.”

He looked back to Roy, now, eye contact unwavering and an intent, almost tense air about him now.

“I must confess,” Lex started, voice soft but deliberate, “I also had my own reasons for inviting you to dinner with me tonight. I’ve come to realize, through your disappearance and reappearance in my life, that I have started to see you as something more than we’ve been, my dear. And if I’m not mistaken, you’ve developed… feelings, as well?”

Lex had a good point, to say the least. The tabloids catching the two of them on a dinner date sure as hell beat the taboids catching Roy sneaking out of Lex's penthouse at two in the morning. The 'simply good sex' comment may or may not have stung just a tad, though the archer certainly didn't let it show. That's pretty much what it was at that point, wasn't it?

Until the businessman opened his mouth again, anyway. And -- yeah, there it was. Roy had guessed that there was a catch somewhere. Confessions. Great. He watched Lex, probably a bit more warily and defensively than necessary without realizing, eyes widening slightly. There it was.

If Roy were to be completely honest with himself, he'd sort of... Developed a thing for Lex five years before, when they'd been 'enemies with benefits'. Not that he would have ever acknowledged or admitted it -- he'd been fresh off with the news that this was the man who had cloned him, not to mention his developing relationship with Jade at the time and his eventual drop from the radar. No way in hell he would have entertained the idea. Now, though... Ugh. The guy didn't wait around very long before he moved in, did he?

"Yeah, fine," The redhead paused for a moment to let out a sigh, "No point in denying anything, right?" Then his blue gaze hardened slightly. "So, what, you're proposing a relationship? I just got out of one of those -- I'm very recently divorced, remember? You've got one hell of a sense of timing." Did he want to 'start a relationship' with Lex Luthor? At this point, Roy couldn't deny that maybe he did. But he'd been so damn stretched thin lately, and he didn't want to jump blindly into anything he didn't have to. Things couldn't just be easy, could they?
