• aphrodite (Αφροδίτη) •
the greek goddess of beauty, love, desire and pleasure.
married hephaestus but bore him no children and instead had many lovers, most notably ares, the war god whom she bore many children. aphrodite is almost always accompanied by eros, the god of lust and sexual desire. greek lyric poets regarded the power of eros as dangerous, compulsive and impossible to resist. in traditional myth, zeus ordered aphrodite to create pandora, the first woman, physically beautiful and sexually attractive so that she may become “an evil men will love to embrace"
