Lorna didnβt know the rumours surrounding Wanda Maximoff. She knew the other was powerful, a mutant. But she knew next to nothing else. So it was odd that the electro-magnetic signature of the other seemed familiar. For now, however, she pushed that to the back of her mind. She wouldnβt think about it, couldnβt spare the energy right now.Β βMutants and tragedy. Seems inevitable.β
There was a promise in Wandaβs words, her claim that she wasnβt here as an Avenger. And it was a promise Lorna would hold her to with no hesitation. She nodded, accepting that as explanation.Β βNo. Itβs okay. Iβm just a little touchy right now.β She didnβt offer an apology with her own explanation, just a tight smile.Β βWhatβs the reaction been like in New York?β she asked. She hadnβt been back to the city except to see Rictor. Lorna certainly hadnβt stuck around to see what the collective feeling was from humans and other non-mutants.
β± πππ‘βπππ π βπππ‘ ππ π πππππππ,
She could see it clearly. The energy around the other practically sang to her... familiarity almost as if finger tips brushing across her cheeks. It was rare to see which only makes it harder to decide if sheβd like to admit the truth of why she came in the first place; or rather why she hadnβt come sooner.Β βYou speak the truth,β Wanda admitted, wondering if she needed that. To be reassured, to know she wasnβt alone, to know... her pain was felt? Itβs hard to grieve someoneβs loss if you donβt know them but when youβve been through similar things, itβs easier than youβd think. It seems most mutants all share some sense of pain. If only that could unite them rather than pull them apart.Β βbut also a shame.β
Wanda had a sort of trust to her. A naivety some hoped she grew out of and some wished they could exploit. She didnβt come here to fight, and in some way she hadnβt even come for answers, but rather see how everyone was living in this part of the world.Β βWhy do you care?β Because if Hydra had, had itβs way, this might be the world she called home. This version anyway. Wanda thought everyone deserved a chance, even herself.Β βWhen my brother died, I shut myself away for a while.β she admitted, rocking back and forth on her heels,Β βI think youβre a stronger woman than I am.β Snappy or touchy, Wanda could see the positive side of being out in the world right now even if itβs this part specifically. Wanda believed the residents needed to find a point not to start over but to continue.Β βSplit it seems.β she admitted quietly, eyes moving over the memorial for a moment.Β βI think theyβre relieved but still afraid... but most of them are human and have never known the fear mutants have. They always fear what they donβt understand.β And yet Wanda? Wanda appreciated Magnetoβs sentiment but perhaps not the way he went about it.
βIβm Wanda Maximoff,β she decided to add before looking back to the other. Since sheβs not here as an Avenger, she was here as herself. Some didnβt know this aspect of Scarlet Witch. She was just Wanda.Β βI know your name but Iβd rather meet you.β If that made any sense to the other? Perhaps in Wandaβs mind, she doesnβt know any better.Β βI like meeting people.β Of course you could say that shouldnβt extend to whom someone has called a villain but she had been on that side and she knew... she knew Lorna Dane was more than just Magnetoβs daughter or a member of The Brotherhood. Tonyβs really going to ground her this time, isnβt he?Β βCould I buy you lunch, maybe?β Never mind that the sun is setting. Sheβs never quite been one for normality. Wanda wraps her jacket tighter around herself as a chill rolls in.Β βOr coffee?β
