The unofficial translation of Gensou Narratograph is now available to download! (PDF only or .rar file with bonus assets)
I know no one ever actually looks at tumblr blogs, but I've made a basic page to hopefully collect information and links in the future.
An unofficial tabletop RPG published by Kadokawa. While the game as a whole is by no means "canon", it includes a full transcript of a game session with ZUN as one of the players, plus new character quotes and location descriptions written by ZUN, so it's worth checking out just for that alone.
Narratograph is largely boardgame-based, played with a selection of 30 characters gathering clues on a map of Gensokyo to progress through objectives and resolve the incident/kerfuffle of the week. However, it is still an RPG, with every scene being roleplayed and the incident also having a proper story to it. Narratively the game leans towards the light and feel-good end of Touhou fanworks, though I suppose it's up to you what you do with it. The book includes two prewritten adventures as examples, one of which I've run for a group to test it out.
It has pretty digestible mechanics, and a very unique danmaku combat system. To help with the number of sheets, figurines, tokens etc. needed, I've made public the Tabletop Simulator mod that I use to run the game myself, together with character figurines. You can use the assets included with the game to try and make it work in some other virtual tabletop of your choice. Or of course, you can also just print everything and play it live, if you can get a group together.
The rules have some quirks, and I'll try to figure out the best way to post my own notes and suggested houserules. As things stand, though, despite having nothing to do with the game officially, after putting a lot of work into it, I'm also curious to hear anyone's thoughts or experiences running it!

A rite of passage for all trans women.
This should go without saying as well but, womens issues is not fully encapsulated in this comic. Its a light hearted way to talk about it, but it is infinitely more nuanced, systemic, and difficult to discuss than a 10 panel mini comic will allow.
Women are more than these problems, and these problems are not all that women face.
Also i see all these wonderful asks your all so sweet, ill be getting to them soon.
I'm disabled and cannot work, I also should be able to live in a one bed apartment by myself and not starve myself to make rent and pay bills.
Additionally, the financial aid I get should not be dependant on me struggling alone. If I wish to live with a partner or marry, I should not be be financially punished so that I cannot afford basic costs.
We all, whether we are able to work or not, deserve to be able to afford to live. We all have worth that is not dependent on our productivity levels.
True equity is not possible as long as disability equity does not exist.
Everyone, regardless of productivity, deserves to live. Period. That's it. The end.
Everyone deserves a home. One that has electricity and heat and ac and running water. Full stop.
Everyone deserves access to clean water. Full stop.
Everyone deserves access to delicious food. Not just basic food, but *good* food. Full stop.
Doesn't matter if you work a job. Doesn't matter if you don't, or can't. All people deserves these things.
You laugh, but one time I was ringing up a bottle of coke for this really cute lesbian at work and since it’s the Mexican coke with an old-fashioned cap, I meant to ask if she wanted me to take it off w/ the bottle opener.
What actually came out of my mouth was “Um, do you want me to take that top off? Uhh your bottle. The bottle cap. Removed?”
Transcript : Oh and- and can i top you- can i- and would you- and- can i get your top- wa- could i top- *breathes in* can i- uh- *breathes in* and would you li- and can i give dr- k- drink- and- *about to cry* thirsty?
september is coming up so here’s your yearly reminder to leave billie joe armstrong the fuck alone
Well of course. We don’t wake him up until October 1st.
His dad is dead, just don’t.
In case anyone reading my blog is unaware, this is a reference to the Green Day song titled “Wake Me Up When September Ends” a song that Billie Joe Armstrong wrote following the death of his father in September of 1982 when Billie Joe was ten years old. The title of the song references his desire to sleep through September in an effort to get some emotional distance from the death of his father.
He’s since been open about the emotional difficulty of having written the song since many people now message him on October 1st to ‘wake him up’ despite the song being a memorial to his departed father.
It’s generally seen as respectful to not try to wake him up. Let him sleep and let him remember his father in peace.
reblogging again because the end of September is coming up. leave him alone.
Reblogging as a reminder to leave Billie Joe Armstrong the fuck alone on October 1st and any day after it if your message is going to contain anything to do with “waking” him up because September will be over.

—salvador allende’s final speech, 9/11/73
this week marks the 47th anniversary of the US-backed overthrow of salvador allende. allende was the first latin american marxist to be elected president in a liberal democracy. under allende, universal healthcare, tuition-free education, minimum wage, worker safety protections, free school lunches for children, and other socialist programs were implemented. according to the national bureau of economic research, blue collar wages rose 56% in 1971.
after allende moved to nationalize chile’s US owned industries and align with socialist cuba, nixon (who’d already been carefully monitoring allende’s rise) gave direct orders to the CIA and the US state department to “put pressure” on allende’s government. while the US publicly worked to sabotage chile’s economy with trade restrictions and aid denial, the CIA secretly collaborated with reactionary forces in the country to undermine allende’s credibility and ultimately overthrow him in a bloody coup.
in allende’s place, the US helped install military leader augusto pinochet who returned “freedom” to chile through re-privatization and the extra-judicial murder of an estimated 3,197 chileans. despite pinochet’s reputation as one of latin america’s most brutal fascists, the US supported his regime without issue. “i would say they are dictatorial,” nixon later conceded, “i would also have to, on the other side, indicate that they are non-communist and that they are not enemies of the united states.”
i wish there was a way to be like "research the TRUTH about 9/11" without sounding insane, but the older i get the more i realize i wasnt misremembering and the memory of that day has become completely sanitized as an example of american heroism in the face of terrorist aggression and not one of the most horrific systematic failures and explicit moments of sociopathy resulting in a mass maiming/cancer/unidentified remains event.
an unfathomable amount of firefighters died because, despite being given a 21 minute warning that the building would collapse from a helicopter above specifically bc the NYPD hates the fire department
after the first tower had been hit, workers in tower 2 tried to flee and were told to go back to work by security guards and port authority
1000 remains are still unidenitfied
i always kind of hold off on posting things that make it seem like im too patriotic or psycho about 9/11 but if people are interested in some little details that i've looked into and read about regarding the attacks that have stuck with me since i saw the towers fall in 6th grade. politically, i dont think ppl will be surprised where i land and its too depressing to think about how much of it was our own fault and was so entirely out of anyone's hands. but since watching the cnn cameras hastily cut away from what i, even as a kid, instantly recognized as bodies falling from the towers, it haunted me not knowing what happened to them and why no one talks about it.
no gruesome images here. you can look those up on your own if you're so inclined and clever enough lol (they are fairly difficult to find for, im assuming, propaganda reasons. they are horrid). i don't begrudge you for doing so because this is a horrifying and singular event that HAS truly been sanded down. when the human body lands from a great height what happens to you is that you become unrecognizable as human.
note: i grew up in nevada. it's 3k miles away from new york. i have the opposite of first hand experience. you need to go out of your way to learn about these things for yourself if you want literally any kind of understanding of the world around you.
this is a segment from dean e. murphy's collected oral histories of 9/11: the account of ernest armstead, an emergency medical specialist is a notoriously gruesome stories that just barely touches on what EMS and rescue had to look at that day.
the story of rick rescorla who saved nearly 2000 people at the expense of his own life.
literally one of the worst stories you can use to bring down the mood of a party instantly: firefighters had to hide under rubble and pretend to be trapped because the rescue dogs were getting too depressed at being unable to find any survivors
edna cintron waves for help from the hole where the plane crashed
the audio is gone now but a weird story: a wired FBI informant accidentally caught the only uninterrupted recording of the entire attack
the fark.com livethread and an archive of the something awful livethread. these are so stupid darkly funny now. the fark one is making me go nuts bc i forgot they used "fark" as an explative
this one really haunted me for years: a marriot hotel employee covers remains with tablecloths until cleanup can arrive (some...uh. chunks)
both planes severed the sprinkler systems, leading to this eerie image of water pouring down the stairwell. the photographer survived.
rather than link the video, which is graphic due to the fact that there are visible jumpers and sounds, one strange thing to note is there is at least one video of the towers burning and collapsing while billy joel's "she's always a woman" plays. the most horrible thing you've ever seen set to muzak is one of the most surreal experiences i think a human can be forced to endure.
steve buscemi, a former firefighter, was on the ground helping victims
finally: the new york times archive of transcribed oral histories
