I'm 100% sure that he understands that Byakuya had a life before him, a wife that he loved to be precise.

I'm also 100% sure that most of the time he's fine with that, he's not crazy and doesn't make scene when Byakuya thinks about her (because of course he does, in some occasions).

I just feel like Renji knows that Byakuya will never stop lover her, in some ways, and sometimes he feels so insecure to avoid him. To avoid his touch, his presence. (or to try and act like her)

I imagine him, with Byakuya's scarf in his hand, crying and blaming himself for his stupidity because he knows that this doesn't make sense. He shouldn't compare himself to her, he shouldn't feel like this.

But he does and a little part of him hate himself for doing such a thing.

Now, I imagine Byakuya watching him silently because he's not stupid. He knows Renji, he can read through him.

And I also know that he's not one for sappy or cheesy things but for him, for Renji, he would kiss all his insecurities away.

The best part is that we have also the Chad part to compare it to, how Ichigo reacts after he sensed Chad reiatsu go down

He can’t do anything but to grit his teeth and just keep going. Then we have him sensing Rukia’s reiatsu go down

Ulquiorra comes as soon as he realizes and tells him that Rukia is dead but even then Ichigo still does this

Steps away from a enemy because he wants to go and save Rukia (whose resque arc is this? lol) even if he was just told she is dead. Ulquiorra is not having it tho and brings up that he is the reason why Ino/ue is there and basically why all his friends are dying. Ichigo attacks him and just lets us know he doubted his friend. When he settles that he has to fight Ulquiorra he says this

“It seems that no matter what I do this guy won’t let me pass” Ichigo still doesn’t want to fight him but Ulquiorra is not giving him a chance so he has to and what does he do? An another un-Ichigo like thing 

He is in a hurry (bc he wants so save Rukia) and goes for the first time all out Bankai and Hollow Mask at the same time. He wants to beat Ulquiorra fast, he is not interested in a fight with him he just needs him to let him pass

As soon as he launched his attack and he thinks he defeated Ulquiorra what does he say? “time to go” “I don’t have any more time to waste here” he is in a hurry bc he still wants to go to save Rukia.
