finally. FINALLY. i have at least started everything on my planning (except nigewaka s2 and bleach but those i know i'll love so...... actually i know i'll enjoy the hell out of all the sequels/continuations this season so no need to even cover them here)

i'm still heinously behind but some quick first thoughts on everything new to me

world is dancing, jaadugar, goodbye lara: very clearly the top three contenders for anime of the season, they are simply in their own league. i don't even super want to rank them alongside the others because it's like comparing literary fiction to commercial fiction. both can be phenomenal but idk i would not personally put them on the same chart anyway gorgeous beginnings all around for these three, imo world is dancing and jaadugar are like maybe a step or two ahead of goodbye lara but truly. all three. very good

fighting games, kimishinu, goodbye lara again: these three also get lumped together because they're the ones i picked up for looking wonderful and specifically yuriful. all delightful in that regard so far and honestly like... i thought kimishinu would be the standout one to me here, and i do like it very much! but after the first ep of these, fighting games is actually the dynamic i'm vibing with the most lol like sure it's kind of just rock lady again but i'm certainly not complaining

grow up show: this is one of the first ones i picked up and i honestly thought it would be an anime of the season contenders before i started the heavy hitters up there lol like! it's still very good! it just had the misfortune of being released this season! so while i don't think it will be anime of the season for me i still really enjoyed the first episode and look forward to more

kyoani elecricity thing sorry i forgot the name: man the animation is just absurdly good. huge fan of how it's beautiful of course but also not afraid to be goofy as hell. love that whore oniisan who's haunting the narrative with his whole tits out

smoking behind the supermarket: weird ass release schedule. already binged the first six episodes and enjoyed them immensely. faintly annoyed that we have to wait so long for more

black torch: it's kinda ass but we knew that when we started (will continue watching with friend lol)

kaijuu girl, inept villainess, evil stepmother trope subversion one: enjoying all these! but nothing that i would call a must-watch, they're entertaining enough for me but seem unlikely to float up to the top of my rankings this season (to be fair it is a very stacked season)

neko to ryuu: ughhhhhh it's so cute but! episodic, which i like, but i know many do not. also brief but graphic depiction of animal cruelty in the first ep in case anyone has this on planning and needs a heads up for that. it was imo not gratuitous but upsetting for sure (as it was supposed to be, it was the tragic backstory after all)

mama cat is probably my favorite so far. i hope to see more of her interactions with her various children because the bit of her embarrassing the hell out of her demon lord son was hilarious

all works maid, hanaori-san, isekai roadtrip: i don't know when i picked up the bad habit of picking up so many random isekai every season but you know what i don't regret anything. well maybe i regret some things but anyway. all works maid and isekai roadtrip are both fun so far, hanaori-san...... i'll give it another two eps or so to see how i feel i think my issue is i was hoping for something like lv1 maou in terms of dynamic bc that was really fun to me, and this is more, idk, normie. i guess i'd kind of hoped they would still act like old people? like the charm of lv1 maou to me was the fact that even when one of them is taking the form of a big-boobed lady, their dynamic is still very much that of old man yaoi. hanaori-san is just doing heterosexual teacher/student nonsense with extra bullshit steps. yeah while typing i think i just convinced myself to drop it so. goodbye to this one lmao

insipid prince: straight up not very good and typically would be a drop for me HOWEVER. lol. lmao even

WHO CAST THIS SHOW i just wanna talk and maybe shake your hand because this is hilarious. i'm literally watching just in hopes of seeing yuuma (congratulations to him btw) bullied mercilessly in the coming weeks

kore kaite shine: REALLY CHARMING UGH having such a great time with this one. not quite must-watch territory but the characters are fun, the artstyle is fun, and i'm always a huge sucker for art that's about making art

testunabe no jan: idk... it's not Bad or anything but as far as like cooking shows that are centered around eccentric asshole genius chefs, i kinda liked fermat more. i feel like fermat was ridiculous in a fun way while tetsunabe is ridiculous in a... just ridiculous way. like idk it's trying too hard. or not trying hard enough. something's missing. but it's fine enough to continue watching with friend
