Is it possible to even think of our lives without technology today? No must be the universal answer. Yes, of course it is impossible to imagine our daily routines without technology in hand. Moreover, for many people like me who has to spend time alone all day, technology is the best friend. Knowledge, books, music, games, movies as well as friends are contribution of technology in our day-to-day living. Being out of my hometown, it is technology that makes it possible for me to connect to my family and friends without whom surviving in this concrete world becomes difficult. But, the flip side of the coin questions whether we more engrossed in technology than it is actually required. Are we losing some precious moments of life while prioritising technology? For many cases, yes indeed. So let me share some incidents with you..One fine day I was at a tea boutique with one of my friend for afternoon tea. In the meantime, a couple entered and were seated in a table just opposite us. After deciding on and ordering their respective tea preferences to the waiter, their social interactions began. I could see that they were just seated together but were not accompanying each other, rather they were happy to be busy with their individual mobile phones, taking pictures, texting and smiling. At that very moment, I had a feeling that, were they not sitting together now, they would have been sharing this tea time with each other through the virtual world. I observed a similar love for technology in a very close friend of mine which disturbs me deeply. It has been more than a few times when I have been out with him for a dinner or so, even before starting the meal, he starts taking picture of the dishes and shares with friends and family. With this, the people who receive the pictures begins to offer feedback gradually and he engages in a conversation with them. So, I am left with two options, either to fulfil my appetite or to wait till he finishes his social interactions. But till the time he finishes, either the food becomes cold or I am not in a mood to enjoy the meal, feeling ignored. So, don't you think it would be better for people going out for dinner with their friends of family to enjoy the time and get busy with technology and their virtual lives after the event is over? Utilising and exploiting technology must be our motto and not let technology exploit us. We are social animals and extracting the small pleasures of life really matters for us to be happy. So, why to miss the moments we are with our loved ones and keep the use of technology in shelf for the time they are away. Appreciate the beauty of nature, cherish the love of your dear ones and enjoy the peace of simple living!!
