SHILOH: Dude, you're amazing drunk!

          ❝ Shiloh !! ❞ Was the response he’d greet to the younger , smile stretching upon his face as he’d sit up straight from his position of leaning along the walls of Lambda Sig’s house. He’d always been a WALLFLOWER , yes - maybe he’d learn to come out of his shell with his time in Kappa Tau , but old habits die hard and he’d still be prone to sticking to the sidelines often.

            Allowing his younger brother to take his shoulders , long and lanky form would follow , gripping onto the cup in his hands. ❝ Oh , you know , just … hanging. Nothing much. ❞ He replied , nodding and taking a deep breath. ❝ Having fun. … Are you ?? ❞     

“Yeah, I guess! They’ve got beer, cupcakes, loud music...what more could you want?” He laughed, dropping his arm so he could grab a cupcake. Shiloh didn’t really know what he found fun anymore, he wasn’t sure he ever did. Other than his Cello and hanging around his brother, most of what he’d done growing up was to make other people - namely his mother - happy. It was something he didn’t want to think too hard on lest it killed his vibe, the beer was doing way too a damn good job jumpstarting his buzz. 

“Sammy!” Shiloh exclaimed, squeezing through the crowd to reach his brother. He’d been milling about the past hour enjoying the atmosphere of reckless chaos, but no party was ever complete without Sam. "Where were you? I’ve been looking all over.” 

Draping his arm around his brother’s shoulders - an action made awkward by their height difference - Shiloh led him in the direction of the kitchen, hoping to crack open another beer and get in on one of the delicious-looking cupcakes. He’d never had much of an appetite, but damn...they were tempting. 

emmett loved a good party - almost as much as he loved champagne. beer wasn’t his thing - it tasted awful, smelled like hay, it’s what they drank at car races…champagne, on the other hand, was the epitome of everything he wanted to be: classic, effervescent, rich. so of course, he always brought a bottle with him to parties. “ can i get you a glass? ” he offered to the person beside him. 

“You ever wonder what it’d be like if you weren’t the eldest?” Shiloh asked, looking uncharacteristically cozy in his raggedy sweatpants and a shirt he was pretty sure used to belong to Sam. His brain did this sometimes - asked questions he didn’t want the answers to, posed hypotheticals that could only end badly. Talking them out was the only way to keep them from lingering. “Because I do.” 

     “ whoops ! “ winnie said, moments after bumping into someone. her phone was glued in front of her face as she walked on the sidewalk. she’d been trying to catch a pokemon while attempting to get to class on time. but without paying close attention to where she was going and focusing on her phone, she had managed to run into someone the second the pokemon fled. winnie had been trying to do two things, except all she’d accomplished was doing two things poorly. this was why people didn’t multitask. “ i’m so sorry ! “

“It’s whatever,” Shiloh shrugged, more curious than angered by her obvious distraction. He’d have thought she’d have learned not to walk and text by now - didn’t they have a PSA or something - but hey, who was he to judge? He’d done more than his fair share of things they had PSAs for. “Do you usually go around texting and walking or is today just my lucky day?” 

kai sighed as she tapped her worn on converse against the library floor, staring expressionless at the equations on her laptop screen. she had promised herself that she was going to spend her weekend studying to get a jump on her classwork however, now that it was actually time to work she was completely over it. “nope… no absolutely not — there is no way i’m staying in and doing homework on a friday night.” she groaned out of the blue, already packing her things away. “Let’s do something, please i’m begging you. i cannot stay here another minute i think my head might explode.” 

“Fine, but only ‘cause I don’t feel like scrubbing brain matter off the library floor,” Shiloh replied, lips quirking upward in amusement. He was sure they could find something fun - it was Friday night, after all - questionable decisions were just begging to be made. Unceremoniously shutting his laptop and shoving it into his messenger bag, he pushed his chair back to stretch out his cramped legs.

 “What do you wanna do?” 

“I dunno why teachers all have a hard-on for this book...because it fucking sucks,” Shiloh said, flipping a few pages forward to see if things got more bearable. They didn’t. He’d read ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ as a teenager - he’d had to, his perfect grades had counted on it - but now that he was revisiting it, it was worse than he remembered. 

god, jo loved the sun. the only time they got to see it growing up was the limited back yard time that their grandparents allowed them to have for ‘playtime’ or as they also called it, a surrogate recess. america was really the land of free, at least it was to jo in that moment as they sat on the grass in front of chi and just stared up at the blue sky. “ isn’t it amazing ?! “ the blonde chirped, a large smile plastered on their face.

“What, the sky?” Shiloh asked, plunking himself down next to the smiley blond and tilting his head back to watch the sky. The sun’s rays felt nice against his cheeks and the nearly endless blue above them was nice, but amazing was never a word he’d have used to describe it. He didn’t use words with such emotional gravity often, not unless he was talking about music. Putting himself in other people’s shoes wasn’t the easiest thing for him to do, not when he didn’t fully understand his own perspective most of the time, but Smiley’s awe was surprisingly inspiring. 

“It’s okay. Very...blue.” 

“do you have fucking rabies?” it comes out bit harsher than intended. babs lowers the needle, a clearly unimpressed look painting her face. she’s pretty high, surprisingly concentrated and ready to get down to business. only if the other could stay still for a second. she reaches for her cup of green tea, takes a quick sip and puts the mug aside, eyes moving back to the person. “this is not gonna work if you don’t stop twitching.” 

“No, do you?” Shiloh sneered, taking the hint and making an effort to keep his knee from bouncing. He was a naturally antsy person and the fact that he wasn’t fond of needed only served to amplify that, but he was determined to say a big ‘fuck you’ to the unrelenting fear that lived in the back of his mind and get this damn tattoo. Thank God for all the drinking he’d done earlier that evening or he’d probably have been sick the moment the needle touched his skin. “Just fucking do it. No more twitching, I swear.”
