The ending we got is the best ending we could have gotten. It's all they ever wanted. From the very beginning. From season 1 episode 1. From the beginning of time itself.

They only ever wanted each other and the universe. They wanted humans to have a chance of free will without influence from heaven or hell.

And they actually got it. They actually got what they wished for!

BUT! I totally get the discussion about the lack of kiss or typical romantic gesture. I think we should actually talk about this more... Is a kiss necessary to show that the characters love each other romantically? In a queer media I see why is requested, so I'm on the side of yes, they should had a better kiss on screen after what happened in season 2. They had everything right, saying how much they love each other, how they made each other complete, being very blunt about the situation...

But now imagine the scene in the book shop, after making their decision, they hold hands, look at each other, and kiss. They continued to kiss, again and again, to make for the time they didn't. Aziraphale do the hand thing in between kisses, and they continue to kiss until they vanish

In the end, when Asa e Anthony look at the stars and Anthony says he has everything, Asa could kiss him softly like "oh my sweet sap husband" and do the hand thing just so we could be like oh so azicrow live on they
