Lights (Michael Langdon x Reader)

When you bring up the idea of celebrating Christmas, Michael wrinkles his nose at you. It’s an endearing expression, you think, as he peers up at you from the floor, a few golden curls hanging in front of his eyes, his fingers dragging absently through your cat’s inky black fur. It’d be downright adorable if he wasn’t indignant and half-disgusted by the mere thought. You wonder if it’s a little ridiculous to even suggest it.
You’re well aware of who and what Michael is.
Two days after you’d found him wandering around Los Angeles starving and exhausted—broken, you thought at first, beyond repair—the truth had come tumbling out. The truth should’ve changed your thoughts about him, should’ve made you toss him back out into the streets for fear of your life. But here you are, months later, the two of you coexisting in your tiny apartment because you couldn’t see past that sad, lost look in those bright blue eyes.
It’s still there, sometimes, and you wish you could do more to make it go away. You don’t know how to help him; you wonder if a stable roof over Michael’s head and food and companionship is enough to keep that dark spot on his soul from taking over. You can only hope that it is.
“What?” you ask, a hand on your hip.
Your cat flops over on his back in Michael’s lap, paws kneading the air, eyes closing as Michael scratches under his chin. The cat loves Michael—more than you, most of the time, and you’re not exactly sure who you’re most jealous of at this point. It’s hard to admit that you might even be jealous at all.

I’ve got a girlfriend but she’s half-way across the country, so I feel this in a way
confession.
So I have a confession to make. More like making something very clear to some people.
First off, before I start ranting, you should know I’m an equestrian and I take my passion pretty seriously. Of course, I’m not a serious serious person, in fact I’m a fucking crackhead once you get to know me. But nothing frustrates me and pisses me off more than people (specifically gen z’s (yes, I too am a gen z, and I hate my generation at times)) making fun of equestrians or calling us all horse-girls.
There’s a difference, for starters. Yeah, there’s such thing as a horse girl, which are the weird ass horse-girls (Not all horse-obsessed girls are like that, though.) you meet in elementary school. Some grow out of their horse-loving phase, and others don’t, and they move onto being an actual equestrian. Which is I guess how I did it. I didn’t really take riding very seriously in elementary school (Especially after my riding lesson teacher passed away), but once I started taking lessons again in 2018, I started to genuinely want to do things with horses, not just own a horse and ride occasionally. I’ve been riding since I was 9. Been riding English since November of 2018 when I turned 15. Now I’m jumping, started jumping in August of this year. Well, I have plans of showing in the future once I get past some bad habits when I finish a combination, but anyways.
As someone who takes horse-riding seriously, I find it super annoying and disrespectful when people automatically assume equestrians are weird and annoying, and so they stick the label on us: Horse-girls.
It may just be me being sensitive, but I don’t care, because I love my passion.
But the thing is, if I confront my close friends that call me horse-girl, they’re going to say I’m sensitive or just can’t take a joke. It pisses me off and makes me feel pretty upset, but I don’t say anything.
This is mainly just me ranting, but it’s also me reaching out to other equestrians on tumblr. Do you guys get annoyed or frustrated by the horse-girl memes and shit?? Because I do, and I have got to find someone who agrees before I lose my mind lmao
