I do think people can have their fun in fandom, obviously, this isn't me policing anything, but I also think there is something to be said about a character that was overwhelmingly seen as subtextually aroace by aro/ace people (Ryland Grace, Hail Mary) immediately getting shipped with another man from an entirely different movie (Simon, Iron Lung), and subsequently overtaking almost the entirety of the former's tags. And essentially (from what I've seen) pushing those aroace people to the sidelines (intentionally or not, that is not the point).

Like how textually aro characters, regardless of their canon feelings on the subject, are still shipped because "aro people can still date." Like how a character's asexuality is often not taken into account in sexual relationships and how it may add nuance or change how they participate by allos.

Like how in real life, aro/ace people are ignored and/or intentionally misunderstood.

Harmless fandom fun, sure yeah, but... You can see the observations, correlations, and point I am making, I'm sure.
