Anyone who knows me, knows that I always have a lot to say. Sometimes it might not be useful. Sometimes it’s something that would probably be better left unsaid. My friends call me Megaphone for a reason. The nickname came from an instance in which I was was yelling about nothing, and since it’s stuck. 

In July an infamous Snap video of me talking about just how much I had to say was created, and I think we’re all a little better because of it. “I’m just really cute, and I have a lot to say, and that’s just it.” But today, for the first time, I’ve got nothing. 

Last night, we learned that no matter how many times a competent and poised women shows us she is qualified to do a job, America will still believe the straight white men telling us she’s not. And here’s the thing, she did just that. She showed us time and time again just how qualified she is to complete any job set before her.  

Yet, next month our next POTUS will be on trial for rape allegations.

I don’t have anything new to add. There isn’t anything I could say here, that hasn’t been said yet. But I’ll write in order to share the things I can’t put into an intelligible verbal argument. 

I’m not scared of a Trump presidency, I’m afraid of the values and opinions his win has validated. I’m terrified of the hatful speech he inspires. The sexism, homophobia, racism, and xenophobia he’s made his platform.  

I’m not afraid of a Trump presidency, I’m afraid of the loss of the checks and balances in this country that we argue we hold so near and dear to us. It no longer exists. 

I’m not afraid of a Trump Presidency, I’m afraid for my LGTB+ friends and family who now have a VP who actively funds conversion therapy. And I’m hurting for them on the day their marriages become obsolete. 

I’m hurting for the women like myself who are survivors of sexual assault, who will now be living in a world dominated by rape culture and everything it allows.
