Point B never fails to impress and his recent LP is no exception. This fresh track shows there's more fine steppin' beats yet to come, hopefully this year. Comfort Zones beats are boiled down to the essentials, whilst still providing the relentless driving momentum of a club banger throughout, occational cyncopated congas provide a hint of decadence. Punctuating stabs make up the bassline, which only helps carry the momentum. Washy astral pads and filtered and reverbed drums fill the voids and give a grounding for the flitters of delightfully squashed and over-processed vocal samples. If this is a work in progress, I very much look forward the hearing the final product.
Been waiting for some new stuff from Ambassadeurs ever since M.O.P.E dropped last year as well as this fine earlier bandcamp E.P. This free download from XLR8R gives us a taste of what's to come. Those skippy hi-hats are a delight.
After seeing Lucky Me's Jacques Greene smash things up at Bloc(!) last weekend, I couldn't resist putting up this vibin' promo mix he did in the run up. It's one of the few things that's helping to soothe those post Bloc blues...
**At the time of writing this had not yet hit the download limit!!**
Tasty little Future Garage mix from Tessela here, including several of his own tunes. Love the brutal 4x4 sub-bass industrial fest that is "Change (A Made Up Sound Remix)" originally by Commix and the jittering drums and on Tessela's own "In Motion (Dub)". Check out the interview for some insight.

Haunting vibes. Staggering drums. Deep bass. Along with thick, layered and grating synths, whose undulating phases and filters build the tension. All of which is perfectly balanced against simple, indecipherable vocals easily make this track an early favourite in 2011.
Don't understand the video, but the tune is up to Jon Hopkins usual standards of intricately intense sound design and layering. Love the way it builds up as those crazy filters open up. Pretty much the only thing left of the original is the minimalist drum programming and the light airy feeling you get at the end which is beautifully accentuated in this version by the contrast against the brutally building synths and imposing snippets of white noise.
Nosaj Thing "Us (Jon Hopkins Remix)" (by Alpha Pup)
Chirpy, jackin' House. Can't really fault this as it's something that I'd really enjoy bouncing to on a dancefloor. One of those tracks that you would listen to to get in the mood for a big night out, then want to hear again on a crowded dancefloor at the peak of the evening.
