Hi there! And welcome in. If you are unfamiliar with "Pokemon IRL" as a blog type:
This account counts as a roleplay blog that posts as if from a pokemon universe. As such, Unreality will be heavily present. Please block (no hard feelings!) if you are uncomfortable with such activities.
Edit: Assume blog is 18+
Just in case of High Stakes (i think is the term this community started using?), any jokes that might be made, or discussions of Shark Week style information. [This is not an NSFW blog], but both mun and muse are 20+, so disclaimer on the front of that one.
Possible (current) Warnings:
- Unreality
- Swearing and other mature language
I'll update if anything changes. Have a great one!

Hello sweetie! Welcome to Rotomblr! Have fun and stay safe out there! ✨
So! What’s your favorite pokemon and what do you love about them? 💖
Hello there, and thanks for the ask! Safety and fun to you as well.
Favorites though, that's always a tough one. Sharpedo is up there of course. Their methods of locomotion being closer to an Octillary or Grappleoct (via siphon) underwater than even something like Alomomola who has a distantly similar body plan (reduced or no tail fin), the variety of subspecies (Sitrus Sharpedo, the multiple Reef Sharpedos, Abyssalforme Sharpedo, the Barbed Sharpedos, etc), the different hunting strategies I've touched on here briefly.
They're strange and powerful and it's very humbling to see a particularly large one on a dive. 10/10.
{[Phone quality video. A Wingull can be seen from behind, gazing at the water.
Someone off camera starts talking.]
"So this chaos egg likes to wait for Jaws to come up like a sad Regency Galarian wife. Look at him, awaiting a letter to know if his sea captain lover has returned from war."
[Camera moves so you can see the Wingull's expression, which is hard to glean but looks Very Focused.]
"He's not actually upset. It's just that Jaws spoils him if he sits and waits here after refusing to go in his ball. Big softy. You domesticated them yes?"
[The Wingull makes a distinctive sort of almost-honk almost-caw noise.]
"See? He is actor. He is very proud of himself. This is the thief who stole their heart and would steal everyone's cornnpups if given the slightest chance yes."
[Another caw-honk, looking very interested.]
*chuckle* "No, I have no snacks for villains right now, sorry."
[A stare. Then a hop closer.]
"...I have made a mistake. Remember me-"
[Video cuts off with the Wingull taking flight, possibly towards the camera.]}
{[Image posted directly underneath, pixelated but not unclear. It features a lean figure with long black hair and a face covered by a png of a Porygon. Nesting in his hair is the Wingull from before.]}
My sad Galarian Regency wife and his prisoner when I came up from a dive.
- "He's a dragon, Richard!" gets chatoted at random by the rest of us, but especially when one of us is overthinking or asks a question that is in the vein of "What color is the Pink Persian again?"
- Neither of them specialize in dragon-types or other dracoforme pokemon.
- They're actually really close friends. The kind you would imagine would bare-arm wrestle a Gyarados for the other.
- This is primarily a water-type research facility.
- They're both married, we suspect to eachother, but they're relatively work/home separate people so most aren't rude enough to ask.

(@wingsofachampion) Hiya! What's your favorite thing about humans? -Tropius
! That's an interesting one. Thank you for the ask.
I'm not as suited to give an in-depth answer, but I think the way many of us like to bond together is a favorite of mine. Not all of us are great at it sure- and exceptions exist of course- but I can think of nothing better than a "pack" of human and pokemon, sharing stories and eating good food, bound together by hope and comfort. And all that comes from that togetherness too.

With Apricorn season comes... Apricorns! They're a common fruit found in nearly any biome in the Japanese regions where trees grow, and are one of the first materials used to make Apricorn Balls. I got the supplies and made a few to demonstrate c^^
Materials you'll need: at least one Apricorn, something to cut it in half (i used a pull-saw), very tiny hinges, latches, and screws, a very small screwdriver, linseed oil, sandpaper, and a rag.
The full step by step is found below the cut!
Gather your supplies! I'm working outside on a folding table. Apologies for the angle.
The first step is to split the Apricorn in half neatly, with the step-side being centered on one of the halves. That will be your top shell!
There will be a fruit inside; many Pokemon enjoy eating it, like Niniku, who immediately hijacked my table to steal the halves and clean them out for me.
You'll want to thoroughly clean out every shell, wiping out any junk, fruit, or other biological material aside from the shell, which has the feel of a hard wood. Remove the stem entirely- there will be a small hole on the top where the stem once was.
Sand down the two halves- you need to make a 'dip' on one half and slightly widen the other, so the two can sit slightly within each other and form a complete seal.
Some people like to sand down the outer shell of the lower ball entirely to reveal the wood-grain pattern, but this is solely for aesthetics. I don't want to put all that work in.
This stage in the process is where the two haves start to function as a Pokeball, but you have to have a very tight grip- or the two halves will fall apart and forcibly eject the Pokemon inside.
Realize you forgot to get a rag and run to grab a rag to rub in the linseed oil. This will preserve the wood and make sure the apriball doesn't rot out. I like to do this prior to the metalwork to make sure the entire thing is coated. Make sure you give it time for the linseed to soak! With something small like an Apricorn, I only had to wait a half hour.
Realize you forgot your screwdriver and go get that. In older times, they would fashion these hinges and latches out of the unique material Tumblestone, but I don't have that and this serves the purpose of keeping the two halves together perfectly well. Many people also add a metal trimming around the edges of the ball, but I don't have that right now.
I once knew a guy who would waste his time carving the two halves to screw into each other...
And you've made yourself a basic Apriball! This one has no upgrades or increased catching power, but it has baseline function, takes more time and effort, is more expensive, and is much easier to fuck up. Happy crafting!
How do Wishiwashi work? I'm not Aholan so I've never seen one in person, but do you have to keep hundreds of Pokemon or just the one. And if it's the later, where do the rest of the Wishiwashi come from when it's ability activates. I just saw someone use Wishiwashi in a tournament and all I saw was them send out one little guy, and then suddenly there's hundreds of them fusing together.
if you want them to actually school, you need to keep a significant number of individual wishiwashi. they can't use their ability without other wishiwashi around. in competitive battles, trainers have to arrange for a pond stocked with wishiwashi in the court. there's a reason you don't see them very frequently in high-level battling. aside from the logistics of using one in battle, they tend to cause a lot of pushback. there are arguments about ethics, fairness, and logistics. probably the loudness arguments are about whether or not it's ethical to bring in a whole bunch of random wishiwashi and stress them out in a battle, and about whether or not the trainer should have to maintain an entire school to be allowed to use them in battle. keep in mind that a proper school of wishiwashi is over 200 individuals.
for most trainers, that's a lot more trouble than it's worth. wishiwashi in a school are tough, but it doesn't take much to scatter them.
What pokemon do you see as the most unexpectedly inconvenient species in terms of new behaviors?
For example, I work maintenance on underwater infrastructure and one of the most common issues i have to fix are Basculin and Sharpedo just outright eating concrete and rebar support structures.
oh those guys will absolutely wreck underwater infrastructure if given the chance. i think one of the craziest things i've ever seen with deep sea pokemon is an underwater research camera getting completely obliterated by none other than lugia. the footage is up on mewtube still i think?
honestly, as a ranger- hoppip are one of the most troublesome pokemon out there. when winds get strong (which they very much do out here in artazon), you get hoppip flying everywhere and smacking into everything. it's not their fault, because they can't always control where the wind takes them, but there's nothing quite like having to evacuate a building because several hoppip got blasted up against a fresh air intake vent and stun spored it up. it's pretty common in spring out here to have to spray hoppip marks off your car from them getting blown into it.
