Martin spent months sacrificing himself TO PROTECT JON! He resigned himself to being banished to The Lonely and this was his admission that yes he is a part of the lonely and now he does want this but all of this is because he loved Jon more than he loved himself.

Celia is doing this for love but it is FOR JACK. I’m not going to completely villainize her because she’s doing what she believes she has to do to stay with her baby. But with Sam she is ready to betray him. She is planning to sacrifice Sam to protect herself and her child. “I really did like you” is saying No I did not pretend to like you to get you here, those feelings were real, but they weren’t enough and we are still here and I am still going to do what I believe I have to do. She may not have wanted to but she followed through on the plan til the very last second. Yes she hesitated but Archivist interrupted her and now we will never know if she actually would have done it (I think she would have).

do you think in that moment when he realized the archivist was doing its thing, that he made a quick assessment? celia has a kid to look after, that's the whole point of this. this kid has a life ahead of him and sam's already lived a while. and it was so awful remembering everything from his childhood when the archivist picked his brain, and he didn't even do it in front of anyone else. he didn't want celia to go through all that. and well, she was going to throw him in anyway. if he falls in while attempting to stop that thing, it would've happened at some point that night regardless. might as well do something good before then.

so it's fine if he falls in. he said he'd help her any way he could with jack, didn't he? and he even saved her the experience of having a statement taken. it's fine.

And, well. Think of how it started for him. Not just the trauma of what he saw in the Magnus Institute, but the lingering knowledge that whatever horrific Thing the Institute was…it didn’t even want him in the end. A mercy granted by the fact that he simply wasn’t good enough for whatever standards it had. Not worth collecting, not worth devouring.

Even the Archivist only bothered with him as a stepping stone; a doorman, a map. That was all. Not even a snack to this monster, so much as gum to chew and spit out. Sam has only been lucky so far in being grazed by the Horrors because he’s just never been worth the bother. Even as a victim, as someone Pursuing the Truth, he’s a mere afterthought.

Until tonight. Until this moment when, once again, he’s there to be cast aside.

Until—as far as the cliffhanger hints—Sam took the Horror by the scruff and made sure it was cast down with him.

“You should get some sleep” - we don’t need sleep here and sleep is awful anyway

“You should eat something” - we don’t need food. Or water.

“How about a cup of tea” - You can’t trust the tea. You can’t trust comfort at all.

Today we took our little brother to the hospital because he suffers from an infection that affects his breathing and causes him pain. I hope that every living conscience will help us save our young son’s life and donate any amount you can.
