Summary:

Mickey and Ian didn't expect a night of trick-or-treating to end with a confrontation from their past. The encounter opens old wounds while simultaneously trying to close doors.

Together, Ian and Mickey navigate having a threenager and are faced with their biggest fear since becoming parents.

Ian’s always been used to the cold. He knows it like the back of his hand, which is why he finds himself at home on the ice skating rink. Figure skating means being surrounded by a kind of cold he doesn’t have to shut out or run away from — a kind of cold he can make his own. When he runs into Mickey on the way to work in Boystown, he doesn’t expect them to have much in common, even when he realises Mickey has been watching him skate from afar for years. But Mickey sees the rink as an escape and a second home just like he does, a way to cover up the bruises left behind by his family with ones left by clumsy teammates and aggressive opponents. They quickly find themselves intertwined, what was meant to be a fun hook-up snowballing into something warmer and safer.
