My poor mama is celebrating her extremely low key bday only a couple days after her surgery, so sorry mom, we’ll do it up properly next year. If everyone would send my mom well wishes in the form of prayers for her to heal and be pain free instead of the normal bday wishes, that would be so awesome. Love you lots mom 😘❤️ P.S. Normally I would something long with a collage of pictures but I don’t have many from the last year because we lost my Maa on April 12th of last year and we are missing her very much. It’s the day of your #wedding (part one) and I find myself in awe of you my dear friend, @sairhemy , and I just can’t believe that despite how much of a climb life has been, you’ve been able to overcome those mountains so gracefully, no matter what the “weather conditions” were (sorry I’m a sucker for a good metaphor). I know it wasn’t easy and I know there are still some not so great days but still... you are moving forward & living life... which is just beautiful to witness. It definitely gives me hope because you found a way to live your purpose and for those of us who fight chronic illnesses - that’s the dream... just finding a way to not just survive the day but thrive and conquer the day. Basically you’re fucking awesome... just saying. You are one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had and I am so blessed to be able to watch you enter this new chapter of life, with immense happiness and adoration for the inspiration you are. I’m sorry It’s taken me a while to put these pics up, it’s 100% because of my own issues, which just ends with me worrying about things that I shouldn’t worry about - it’s still difficult for me so thank you for helping me with all of that, whether it be with helping me find awesome clothes - to all the encouragement you’ve given me. I’m starting a new project where I will take a picture daily* & I’ll speak my truth & be authentic AF! Screenshot of twitter showing contrast between progress, beauty & love - then devastation, hate & ignorance. It doesn’t matter what your political beliefs are, moments where people get a leadership position for their hard word, and the “content of their character” w/o any hate, bias, prejudice or ignorance shows us how beautiful the world can be. (I’m so proud to be a #Canadian ❤️🇨🇦 ) And now we have devastating news, and it’s only a small snapshot of the worlds TRUMPED up issues, there is so much more that isn’t a giant news story b/c it’s “common” “nbd” - war torn countries, poverty, lack of resources for refugees & aid after Natural Disasters, inequality for women, POC’s, minorities, and the like & trust me there is so much more than that. It makes me upset to think we have become complacent & think it’s happening so far away so we can ONLY send positive vibes, love and prayers - which is okay to do - but we also need to take a closer look at what we CAN do & how we can help. Honestly it could be as small as donating $$ (look into where your donation is going and if it’s being used to help the way you want it to) - let’s be real... many people can’t afford to donate but you can spread the word so others who have the means to do so will see it & can help. I think about this stuff a lot, my career would have been directly rooted in being at the front lines of many of the issues in the world & it hurts that I’ve lost the opportunity to help the way I WANTED to b/c my health derailed my life, & it truly does bother me everyday. However, I do realize that I can still help and I’m working on something bigger than myself & I hope and pray that it works out so that I can accomplish all that I hope to, & finally help those people in a tangible way. In the mean time we can all take a small step to make this world a better place, w/o money. We have a voice & we should use it. Our biggest and best defence is love, empathy & compassion. It may sound crazy but we really can change lives w/ kindness. If 7billion+ ppl take a small step, it’s not a small step anymore. TBC (at Planet Earth)

I put this pic up is because there is now a Americanized version of this beautiful manga/anime #deathnotenetflix on Netflix. I really want to be positive but I already see from the trailer that so much is missing. I wonder why they couldn't use at least some Asian Americans in the movie, and I can't help but wonder why it is always Asians. Asians of all kinds still have very typical parts in Hollywood ie. Cab Drivers, Convenience store owners, Terrorists, Martial artists. I see the small changes in seeing more POC's in Hollywood but I think there is a lot more that needs to be done. I hope one day my nephew or my little cousins, or any kid can look at the screen & see themselves. I also worry that this will be another disaster like #avatarthelastairbender which sounded amazing but the casting was an issue because the story is so imbedded into Asian culture so much that it's like a character unto itself. They also tried to fix the issue by hiring South Asians, Indians &a that's cool but it's like doing a movie about South Africa & then hiring actors who are Egyptian or Moroccan b/c it's still Africa. I just really LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this particular Manga/Anime & I just wanted to share that. I hope that it turns out to be a great movie & that #Netflix "kills" It (pun intended) Some more info: #Deathnote is one of many fave #Manga #anime that I love.The manga series is written by #TsugumiOhba who is just a true genius, he's written an amazing story that is captivating and intense all the way through, and it's illustrated by #TakeshiObata who is also incredibly talented, the art is just beautiful and a perfect companion to the story. Neither one would work without the other. In June 2007 they developed the Anime composed of 37 episodes directed by #TetsurOaraki - soon after they made a few other mediums to tell the story but nothing has compared to the original Manga and Anime series. That poster is actual a fabric poster that rolls up and is so gorgeous but I still haven't found the perfect spot for it yet, the two black books are the black edition, separated by volume so it's easier to get a full set as there are so many!(still working on getting the full set 😉)
