Kanna appreciation
I frequently see women is Bl pictured as stupid, annoying or shallow. They're only role is to intervene between the main couple. But Turning as always, develops each of their characters with such tender care. Women are not reduced to being weak or superficial, Ever, Kanna, Faria, Marin, Myra and many others have significant roles in the novel. Her capabilities are reinforced through out the plot and their backstory is as good as any other character. Today I want to focus on my beloved Kanna 💝
If Kanna existed, I wish to be best friends with her. She's so supportive, funny, kind, respectful, lovely. She has this Older sister energy I can't explain. Even though she grew up as an only child, she knows how to perceive people's needs and boundaries. I don't think her powers only manifested as a wish to know Count Gallon's disgusting plans, but as a way to connect with people. She was immersed in a great loneliness after her mom died, nobody treated her decently, and preferred to ignore her completely or make offensive comments about her if possible.
When she came to the Cavalry her circumstances where somehow similar to Yuder's, they wanted to get away from a place that no longer held or never held in Kanna's place any meaning, only that Kanna desperately needed to escape from the unbearable environment at Count Gallon's house.
During the first hundred chapters, we know Kanna's has befriended many other awakeners during the early months of the Cavalry's formation. She was later appointed as Jung Division Deputy Commander for this reason. But Kanna never forgot Yuder's help and tried to engage him in conversation, even if Yuder didn't answered showing many emotions on his face 🤣🤣
The Glove incident just got me to love her even more. She avoided Yuder out of fear he would hate her for reading into him, needless to say it wasn't fear but a huge surprise and slight? Embarrassment he felt the truth was revealed. I think Kanna unconsciously perceives Yuder as a brother, so when she finally got this huge secret out, I couldn't help but laugh soo hard, poor Kanna. She totally left him speechless saying:
"It... seemed like... you were... deeply... infatuated with the Commander."
"...Me?"
"Yes, you! You, Yuder!"
When they had to protect with Gakane and Nathan the Sun Palace from the Sage (gosh I hate him 🤮) and the other star of Nagran awakeners, she even bled through her nose but It didn't matter if she had a mission ahead. Mental powers seem exhausting.
Also when she helped Yuder to read Yuder's grandfather's belongings, she did it out of pure kindness. Even if she felt slight awkward about Kishiar's presence 🤣
Indeed, the Cavalry is the right place for our princess. She is an outstanding leader who doesn't hesitate to take the initiative and is always trying to improve her abilities in the sake of being of help for her colleagues. When I struggle studying for any subject I want to remember Kanna and keep going. The Spirit of the Cavalry lives in all of us.
