CLARA RODRIGUEZ is TWENTY TWO YEARS OLD and is a STUDENT at SHADOWVILLE STATE COLLEGE. They look just like LINDSEY MORGAN and are currently OPEN.
HISTORY
As a child in a small town in Georgia, Clara always thought that her father was an astronaut, and the reason that he wasnât at home was because he was exploring Mars. That was what her mother, Sara Rodriguez, told her to keep the truth from her. Her mother wanted her to have a good view of her father, and for the first several years of her life, she did. It wasnât until a teacher informed her that they had yet to put humans on mars that she confronted her mother, demanding the truth, and learned that hard fact that her father had abandoned her and her brother when they were only a few weeks old, leaving in the middle of the night without even leaving a note or anything.
When she was ten, she decided that she was going to prove to her father, wherever he was, that she was good enough, since he obviously didnât believe it. She sprung into action, working hard in school to get good grades and making as many friends as possible, despite the fact that her timid attitude made it rather difficult at times. She strove for excellence and was often let down when things werenât one hundred percent perfect. Despite her motherâs constant attempts to persuade her that she didnât need to be perfect, nothing seemed to work. All she could think about what making her father realize what he had missed.
At fifteen, she began to realize how her mother struggled to pay bills and immediately began babysitting their neighbors newborn to get some money. Every dime that she earned, she gave to her mother, despite the womanâs protests. Her mother, after all, did not want her children working. She wanted them being children, not trying to pay bills. Still, the woman couldnât turn the money away, as she struggled often with it. Once Clara turned sixteen, she got a real part-time job at a local fast food restaurant, bringing in even more money. It was difficult, of course, as she attempted to balance work with school, but she made it work by cutting out a few hours of sleep every night.
This all came crashing down when she was seventeen and had a breakdown in the middle of school after recieving an F on a test. Horrified and distraught, she had a panic attack and had to be escorted to the front office. For weeks after, students made fun of her and her mother forced her to quit her job and focus on school. With the loss of her job, money immediately became tight, but no matter how much she pleaded with her mother, the woman refused to budge, stating that her health and education came first. She wouldnât let Clara get a job until she was in college and, even then, often drops in to make sure that Clara isnât overworking herself, as she often does.
A few weeks after Claraâs twenty second birthday, she got a call from her mother saying that her cousin Daniel was not living with her. She got a quick run down of the events, learning of the abuse going on at her cousinâs home, and resolved to look after the boy no matter what. They had never been very close, due to the age difference and the fact that he had always lived in a different state, but now, she was going to make sure he fit in in Shadowville, even with a possible Serial Killer running around.
