“That’s never going to stop being so cool,” Scott said as he watched the girl’s hand disappear into the wall, “are you just gonna fish around in there and see what you find?”

“Sneaking makes the journey that more exciting. Where’s your sense of adventure?” The tip of Pietro’s lips flickered in a smug grin, an action that made the young male feel like his former self. “I’d challenge we throw out using our abilities, but again, there’s no fun in that.” He pondered thoughtfully, “Getting past the warden, however, is arduous enough. We need our powers.”

Robert’s eyes roamed over the girl’s form, his lips falling into a frown he habitually wore. The anger that had slowly ebbed since being taken in by SHIELD and then the Avengers only grew again since the confrontation– he’d almost forgotten the red-hot feeling coursing through his veins until now. He was childish to believe in family, but as his gaze focused on Kitty, he knew he wasn’t childish for being with her– for following her. The only thing that kept him sane. “Everyone deals with things differently,” Robert said after a time unclenching his fists slowly, “I show it in anger– you know this. The instinct to fight and challenge those around me, but once you have the words for whatever you need to say– you can tell me. I’ll never be mad at you for speaking your mind. I want you to rely on me as much as I rely on you– I wouldn’t be able to stand and endure this farce of a happy home if it weren’t for you.”

“Cheers.” It wasn’t supposed to be like this. After over a decade traveling on his own with his sister, they had finally found a team that could act as the family unit. Well, he just didn’t understand how truly broken this family really is. “Asgardian mead? Find a way to sneak behind the bar and I promise it’s strong enough to make us forget anything you like.” He reached over and tapped the flask.

We haven’t talked about it. Them and what happened; we haven’t really even talked about what happened with John.

I know these things have been hard for you, yet I feel like you haven’t said a thing after they happened.

“No, I never pegged you for the goody two shoes, Kitty.” He plucked the flask from her hand, “Screw playing good little tin soldiers fighting their war.”

You know, for someone that can see through my bullshit and everyone else’s– you’re not so transparent yourself.

Ah, man– I don’t think I could creep around and try looking for a suit like some I Spy game.

I’ve always been terrible at that game.

You always could see right through me.

“Oh,” Pietro slowly cracked a wide grin at the atmosphere change, “Oh, everyone should watch out. I found my new partner in crime.”

Not unless you’re drunk enough, I don’t see harm. I wouldn’t be where I am without being irresponsible, kiddo.

Clint and I aren’t seeing eye to eye on my sister right now. He wants to mope about at this party and suck the fun from the air while I’m trying to have a good time. Of course I’m annoyed.

Well...

That’s why I’m glad guys don’t have to wear heels– no one needs that unnecessary torture.
