Geoffrey McCullum is so funny like with most characters Jonathan has to pry out their deepest secrets with a ton of manipulation and mesmerism and Geoffrey meanwhile will tell Jonathan about his most formulative traumatic experiences totally unprompted. Geoffrey we never asked about your evil vampire dad and dead mom or your evil vampire brother.
Vampyr community of tumblr, I need your help deciding something. As I am currently running a Vampyr inspired Call of Cthulhu campaign/have incorporated the game's plot into one, the context shall be given below the cut, so as to not spoil a story element for my two players.
Help me decide on a name
Sword of Blood and Darkness
Oath of Darkness
Knight's Blade
Arthur's Blade
Hunter's Aid
Other Suggestions (please leave a comment or reblog)

Okay, context: (Warning, Story Spoilers for Vampyr Chapter 5 and onwards)
As many of you know, during the mission "And by the sword you die" you have to fight McCullum in a boss battle at the end of which you can choose to spare or turn him. Before the battle begins however, he drinks a few drops of King Arthur's blood, who is later revealed to also be a vampire. This in game seems to have no consequences for McCullum whatsoever.
As I belive that he should definitely have turned into a vampire from drinking that however, I will make him one in the campaign after this event. The cue? I have decided he won't be an Ekon, but a Nemrod/Nimrod (I'm uncertain of the spelling) instead. This is partially because I think it would be cool, partially because it would fit him and partially also because I want to explore and make up more lore.
In the process of making up lore and deciding which abilities to give a Nemrod McCullum, I thought it would be cool if he gets to have a unique ability. Like Mary had in her boss fight. Now I need a name for it.
The ability itself:
The ability I want him to have, is to basically call upon shadows and blood simultaneously to form a sword that extends outwards several meters/feet with each swing (if you have also played Elden Ring think Carrian Slicer or Azula's Moon Blade). Alternatively if he is already welding a sword, the blood and shadow instead of forming a sword, covers the blade of the one he is holding and extends outwards watch swing, flinging small blood projectiles with each swing.
Alright personal story time! This is for no particular reason other than a friend of mine saying I should share this at some point.
Tldr: I have a name that doesn't traditionally fit my gender so I get misgendered a lot and then confused for trans.
So, I have an unusual name for my gender. To preface this, I am (as far as I care to look into this concerning my own identity, which is...admittedly almost zero, I do not care) cis and this is not a self given name, this is the name I was given by my parents at birth.
Anyway, my name is at least where I live usually only used as a name for the opposite gender to mine (like imagine I'm a woman and my name being like Peter or I'm a man and my name is like Annabelle). My parents were aware of this from the beginning, this is not a cultural thing or language barrier thing, it has a bit of a ling story that I don't want to get into right now. Anyway, that i have this unusual for my gender name is usually not a problem with anyone that knows me and I personally have no issue with that, I like my name, I feel like it fits me. When I meet people who don't know me however, that's when the thing happens.
The thing can go three ways, usually depending on whether (1) the person I meet has seen my name before they see me in person or (2) if they have seen me in person before they learn my name or (3) they see me first before they learn my name and I don't correct them.
(1) If this happens, I am always first referred to as Mr./Miss (opposite of my gender) LastName. Depending on whether I wanna bother, I correct them and then, then it happens. They apologise. But instead of assuming that I just have an odd name for my gender, they usually in 9 out 10 cases, just assume that I'm trans and I get hut with "Oh my God, I'm so sorry. You look wonderful, I swear you can't tell at all!"
(2) If case 2 happens, you'd think the fact that I have an odd name would be the obvious conclusion one would come to, right? You'd think wrong. In case they see me first and then learn my name they tend to course correct from calling me my actual pronouns to the wrong ones, assuming I am trans and haven't started to physically transition yet. This can be accompanied by an apology, but isn't always.
(3) In this case usually they see me first, then my name but don't make connection that that is, in fact, my name. Instead they'll be like "Oh, no sorry I mean *my LastName* not you." And when I'm like "that's me" but don't correct them on the pronouns, then I'll usually get a really awkward apology and that they're so sorry and didn't mean any offense and occasionally that they hope my transition is going to go well and good luck.
Usually I don't correct them unless I know that this person and I will interact on at least a semi regular basis in the future or it is important that the information about whether it's Mr. or Miss is correct (like when assigning credit points at university for instance). I personally just don't tend to care too much or at all what someone adresses me as as long as they call me by the correct name. So this is really just an odd little pattern I noticed.
Now, let's be clear, I'm not complaining, nor do I have anything against anyone who is trans, so even on the site of poor reading comprehension please don't take it as such. I just think it's odd and almost a bit funny that the thought of "Oh, you have an odd name for your gender" just...isn't one that comes up, ever. The first thought instead is always "is trans".

I needed a map of the sewers around the Docks area for my campaign but since I couldn't find any, I just made one myself. This map is as scale accurate as I could make it.
Technical details, how I made it and a version of the map with safehouses and the other major point of interest marked are below the cut.
The process:
I needed a map, in lieu of a map I decided to draw one myself and tyr to make it as accurate as possible. To do so, I googled how tall Jonathan is (6'3''/roughly 1,90cm according to a comunitiy post on steam) and then looked up how long the span of a step for a man of his height would be (27 inch/70cm). With those numbers in hand, I prepared some paper, a calculator, pencil and a ruler and booted up the game. Over the course of several days I walked through the sewers counting Jonahan's steps and multilpied by his step length started to slowly map out the layout of the sewer system in a hand drawn map, which I finally digitalised. The colour was not added in until after digitalization. It was a fun little project, but I would not reccomend doing this to anyone, it costs So Many Nerves. Especially when you realise you fucked up a turn about half way through the map.
Technical Details:
Different levels visualised by different colours. Everything that is in the same colour is height wise roughly on the height. Objects, clutter and floor materials have been omitted from this map for now to spare my sanity, I may add them in later tho.
For now these maps include:
Walls
walkways and bridges
all openable doors
waterways as visible and implied
The scale used for this map is 2:1 000 or in other words 2mm = 1m
So...my firends and I started a new campaign for our Call of Cthulhu games. It's our second campaign and as the GM I have decided to base it on Vampyr. We're sorta sticking to the story, but I added in a lot of sidequests for them to go on, a few side main plots and decided to expand on a lot of details and concepts that were mentioned in the game but sadly left largely unexplored in my opinion.
I'll probably occasionally post a few updates on how it's going. If anyone is interested in updates and wants to be tagged, let me know. If anyone is interested in also running a camping like this, I'd be happy to share stat blocks, maps, modified maps, materials and more.
Due to the fact that at least my friend @the-artist-from-hell also is on here, any substantial answers to any questions or requests will be under a cut in following posts however. To keep accidental āØļøspoilersāØļø at bay.

Ignoring the joke (sorry), that IS a curious one because! Any of the compound words mentioned above would, if switched from exocentric to reg compound, have the boring-ass -er ending and the noun positions would trade places, right? I.e. thriftspender, pocketpicker etc. The meaning remains the same.
So fuckface would turn into Facefucker. Buuuut. That changes the meaning entirely! It implies that the target⦠letās call him Wulfric, is a fucker of faces. However og Fuckface means Wulfricās face is the face in need of a thorough fucking, and definitely on the receiving end. Poor (lucky?) Wulfric. So would that still make it a true exocentric compound noun? Since it doesnāt keep its meaning? SO FASCINATING!!!
As an aside, the German word for Fuckface is Backpfeifengesicht, meaning a face in need of a slapping. While less severe, itās endlessly more delightful and pleasing to say.
I feel weird as a Star Trek fan because right now thereās more Star Trek than even when I was growing up⦠and yet⦠so much of it doesnāt feel like Star Trek to me.
Picard was awful all the way through. Itās bleak, itās depressing, itās inconsistent tonally, and itās just flat out boring. It doesnāt add anything new to the universe and instead just mercilessly kills off many beloved characters for no reason. From Icheb, to Hue, to Q, and even to Bruce Maddox.
Section 31 is an interesting idea. A rogue mission impossible style agency within the federation doing covert missions? Thatās fun⦠but this whole mirror universe Terran empire stuff has no appeal to me and the show looks nothing like Star Trek.
Discovery keeps doing the universe is in danger and spent so much time with the main character that we never got to know anyone else in the show. Then it just randomly jumps forward several hundreds of centuries. Itās so far removed from the Star Trek content I like, in both directions.
Iāve been wanting a Starfleet Academy show since I was a kid. Having a series follow cadets as they learn each week about different starship dynamics and regulations and protocols? Thatās fun. I like that. But I do not want it set in the Discovery universe so far into the future. I always felt Starfleet Academy should be around the Wrath of Kahn era in between the old and the new Trek series.
Strange New Worlds is the closest we have to monster-of-the-week style classic Trek storytelling.. but due to streamingās limited number of episodes weāve barely surpassed Season 2 of TNG in terms of episode numbers after 3 years and a lot of the times the writing feels to just fall short of being good.
Both Prodigy and Lower Decks which both feel the most like Star Trek and focus the most on the ideals of classic Trek were cancelled and brought to an end far too soon. Thereās so much more we can do with either series but the big-wigs donāt seem to care.
Iām convinced more than ever now that Star Trek flourishes when itās animated and aimed at kids. I think the media landscape for adult oriented TV shows has moved so far into darkness and shocking content that doing Trek now doesnāt feel the same. The sense of joy and wonder at exploring space and sci-fi concepts is gone.
Everything has to be a universe ending storyline.
Everything has to be grim dark and depressing.
Thereās no time to spend with any of the characters because weāve gotta keep moving the plot forward because we only have 10 episodes to tell everything in.
Bigger budgets allow different looking tech and scenery, but they still want to be nostalgic for the past while not giving us the stuff we want.
I feel like getting Star Trek isnāt hard. Yet itās weird how many of the people in charge donāt seem to get it at all.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters⦠S.T..R ā¦
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingridās husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
Some donāt die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read thisā¦
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a strokeā¦totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Remember the ā3ā steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questionsĀ :
S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg āIt is sunny out todayā).
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
NOTEĀ : Another āsignā of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to āstickā out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is ācrookedā, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
And it could be your own.
First reblog post that actually saves a life.
This is a life-saving post.
the more you know
yeah donāt think that this canāt happen to you or someone you know if theyāre young. my cousinās wife is 33 and she had a stroke last year
Iāve had a stroke. It happens to people, and the more you know about this kind of stuff, the better.Because it could be important to know.
