Jin-Hai paused, slipping his dagger back into its sheath. Silently, he padded down the long hallway of the barracks, golden gaze darting around the quiet rooms.‘Where did they go…?’The fur on the back of his neck pricked. Something felt wrong, he just couldn’t put a paw on-Whirling, his dagger out in a heartbeat, Jin caught the blade aimed for his neck, narrowing his eyes at his attacker.Roaring with laughter, Mai-san brought his longblade around to slash at the rogue’s legs.“Come on, Jin, you can do better than that! Where is your counter? Your form?”Frowning, Jin-Hai almost missed the lithe form slipping from the shadows, until he caught her paw inches from his belt pouch.“…Nightbreeze..”Chuckling, the little female leaned up, brushing her lips against his cheek, before slipping her paw out of his grasp.“…you were so caught up in your little world, Jin. We got bored.”“….I’m -never- happy when you say it like that, you two…”The Blackguard rumbled with laughter, sheathing his blade.“If I didn’t know you better, Jin, I would say you were never happy! But we all know that’s not the case.”Nightbreeze perched on a stool, watching their exchange, before she piped up.“…assignments are coming in. You know you’re gonna be out scouting this new place.”“Yeah. Gives me some time away from the two of you.”Mai-San clapped a paw on his shoulder. “Bah, don’t say it like that. We’re going to miss you, Jin. Nothing’s ever the same without Goldeye watching your back….”With a soft chuckle, Jin-Hai gave his friends a half-smile.“…alright, fine.
