Mr. Oh-So Sexy

Piper never squealed, but this time she did. The spatula in her hand dropped and she squeed, closing the space between the two of them, arms wrapping tightly around his neck.

Aries had called her when life was falling apart, but there were times she just wished she could close space between them, but his life was in a different place and she knew that, so they were away from one another for now.

“Shit head,” she exlaimed when she finally let go, taking the strawberries and cheap wine. The wine was awful, and she was sure he would just open something else for the night, but it was so great to see him in person, to be able to touch him. “What’re you doing here? Business in the city? Marissa leave your lame ass yet?”

The prolonged period of absences and sporadic visits between the two was unusual. Sure, they called often. But they never got to speak much before he was distracted by the two boys running around or before being pulled away to run another errand for Marissa. As much as it was cheesy, he agreed with the whole ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ thing.  A laugh left his lips at her reaction as his arms wrapped easily around her waist, holding her in his embrace for a moment. Half a year had passed slower than ever. It had felt longer. Their weekend updates slowly became fortnightly which turned to irregular calls. Texting had become easier for them. Between planning a wedding and being a father of two, it was much more difficult to find time to FaceTime or spend a weekend over. 

The texts pulled her out of her business focused mind. These were unexpected. Completely unexpected.

Piper: Yeah, You did forget to mention it. Piper: I am busy. Huge social commitment, don’t waste the trip. Piper: Kidding. I’m home. The door is still broken, so just come up when you’re here. Key’s still in the same place.

Piper had to close her books now. There was no way she could wait patiently for Aries to be here, so she made use of her time while he traveled. She made waffles, hot and crispy just as he liked it.
