i've reached 1810 on my napoleon podcast, and the man is now larping as a royal to the point of addressing other european monarchs as "cousins" and referring to king louis xvi as "uncle", im crying. "just cause we killed him doesn't mean i cant miss" him moment...... late stage napoleon is so lacking in everything that ever made him interesting, im actively rooting for his downfall now tbh. too bad it had to be by the english and russian, but he really earned this end. no vision, no strategy, no foresight, no joséphine, and bringing back all the worst aspects of the ancien régime, what's even the point of this guy at this point? might as well just bring back the bourbons. boooooooo!!!

A trope that gets to me: 'guard dog' character and their partner who are both fully aware of it and honestly don't care/kind of like it. Someone says "call your guard dog off" and their partner does call them off. That person, their 'guard dog', is someone who is unreservedly, irrefutably loyal to them. Someone undoubtedly dangerous who is willing to kill, to maim, to obey, simply because of their love for one another. There's no manipulation involved— it is loyalty, brutal, dogged loyalty. And it goes both ways.
