And I’m also a kinky fuck: I’ve done some twisted shit that some people only dream of and I’m lucky. No small amount of that has been rooted in power imbalances around social class, politics, ethnicity, gender, and so forth.
But actual, needless cruelty—the kind of life where the most interesting thing you have going for you is being mean to others—is unimpressive. It dulls your logic and your strength and your conversations. If you’re sincerely mired in that shit, I cannot encourage you enough to find better uses of your time and energy.
